This record was broken in 1966 by broadcaster Bill Atkins of KDOK-AM in Tyler, Texas, who stayed away 12 days. He did it in a 24-hour restaurant where he was under constant observation. On day 12 he began to hallucinate and attempted to "interview" what he believed to be a tiny man who he saw crawling out of his hamburger. Friends who knew Bill said he was never the same after he did the stunt. He was a co-worker of mine in the late 1970s, and I never noticed anything unusual about him.
I like the ending, "Good night and God bless you."
Orson Bean is very funny, and I genuinely appreciate his sense of humour, but sometimes I feel that he wastes a lot of time during the questioning period...
He tries to be too clever
The Wyatt Earp round was the best ever, but very disappointing that none of them were dressed as their namesake. It would have looked terrific.
Regarding the fellow who stayed awake for 11 days as part of a school science project: I would have liked to ask the contestants whether they started to hallucinate after such a long sleepless period. I've suffered from insomnia since I was a college student, and my (unintentional) "record" for going without sleep was three nights. During this time, I also had to work--and on the last night, I began to see flashes of light that were like camera flashbulbs going off. I wish the panel had asked more about any adverse side-effects from this experiment.
I agree. I could not understand why they wouldn't. I am sure lack of sleep experiments had been readily available and I thought hallucinations were quite common.
He was recorded as suffering from paranoia and hallucinations...these experiments are not generally pursued anymore... at least amongst human subjects...this remains the medically peer reviewed record...he suffered from severe and persistent insomnia as an apparent consequence...
@@michaelpowell6805 May I ask where you got this information from?
Sleep deprivation does cause hallucinations just ask any chronic insomniac. And no they are not scary because you know they are not real, its just your tired mind.
It certainly doesn't seem healthy! @@michaelpowell6805
Jesse James, Frank James and Wyatt Earp....LOL, how cool its that??
"Patrick Floyd Jarvis Garrett was an American Old West lawman, bartender and customs agent known for killing Billy the Kid. He was the sheriff of Lincoln County, New Mexico, as well as Doña Ana County, New Mexico" (Wikipedia, which is sometimes right).
Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid - terrific movie starring James Coburn and Kris Kristofferson.
my favorite panel
Wyatt Earp killed Billy Clanton, not Billy the Kid.
Why did the real Wyatt Earp, contestant #3, look so pissed?
Because at the end of the game it’s only about the stars, not the gamers. They ignore the visitors and it’s just about them. He took off like a shot out of there before the host was even done.
He nodded his head and said thank you before leaving. How is that angry?
Orson Bean could be funny, but he could also be obnoxious and uncouth. I don’t know why he felt the need to relay that dreadful story about the dog and cat.
In the first round, #1 looked a lot like Randy Gardner the figure skater. But in 1964, that Randy Gardner would've been only 5 years old!
I thought the same thing !
Why was the show never aired?
The Wyatt Earp imposters were Frank and Jesse James.
I have been to Wyatt Earp and his wifes Salon. Cheri
Sheriff Wyatt Earp had no children, so he could not be a Great Grandfather
Love Orson Bean...uses all his time reading the cat dog story. He was a good guest on talk shows. Substitute host?
He had a bean sized brain, LOL! 😜 (and a endless thirst.....)😎
he was terrible. who wants to listen to a bunch of irrelevant nonsense ?
Wasn't the real Firefighter/Hairdresser guy on TTTT previous when Dorthy Kilgallen was on the panel?
Nope, I'm mistaken. The fellow I was thinking of was a police officer/hairdresser
Two Hats!
Randy Gardener!!!!
All that disclosure was necessary after quiz show scandals of the 1950s.
Anacin....
Wyatt Earp had no living children there for no grandchildren and si forth.. 🙄
Noah Schimpf the contestant who said he was his great great grandson was one of the imposters. He wasn’t telling the truth.
@@DinaYeager All three confirmed that they were the Great Great Grandson, which means the real man LIED. He was sworn to tell the truth, but didn't.
Pat Garrett killed Billy the Kid.
Why would Anacin "calm nerves"? Wasn't it just aspirin?
The active ingredients in Anacin are aspirin and caffeine. There are also several inactive ingredients.
To sell the product!
Big deal! I stayed awake for 31.
Wow interesting
Why does the name Wyatt Earp sound so familiar?
Wyatt Earp, along with his brother Virgil and Doc Holliday, faced down the Clanton gang in a gunfight at the OK corral in Tombstone, AZ. There have been several movies made about the incident.
