Always thought IMO that the reason both Canelo and Tank have mutual respect for one another is that they see themselves in one another in terms of their fighting styles. Both very good slick,powerful and crafty counter-punchers. Canelo being a little more patient and Tank being a little more aggressive.

I honestly agree. They do remind me of each other in a weird way. Probably because of how their so dominant in controlling the pace of their fights. They’re both low volume precision power punchers with slick defense IQ. (Canelo being more advanced ofc).

That may be true, but I always remember what the great Joe Galzega would say. You look as good as your opponent allows. Easy to be patient with a guy throwing so few punches and not pressing. This must just be for work I guess. Not a good partner to mimic LSC.

I would always watch all of his upcoming opponents older fights and they would look pretty good and then when they got there with tank he would always make them look hesitant and it dawned on me that yea fighters do not fight tank the same as they do all their other fights. I think it has to do with the fear factor of his power

He loads up too much trying to knock everyone out fast. That’s why he gassed in the late rounds with Gamboa. If he was in there with a live body he woulda been in trouble. It’s better to be patient when you have power. Slowly break a guy down.
That's a great skill to have, but should only be used when needed. GTD needs to get them out like Mike Tyson, preferably within the first minute. No overtime pay in Boxing...

Tank just has to remained focused every second of the fight against Leo. I wonder how Leo will be able to endure Tanks punching power. Especially since Leo is a fighter that comes forward.
Well, we found out. Leo, I never seen Leo get knocked out or knocked down. Dude is a warrior. Tank reminds me of Roberto Duran when he was a lightweight. Completely different styles but their punching power is insane. When he was in Philly getting for a fight with a dude I had never heard of - Lou Bizzaro. Duran often fought many non - title bouts.
Anyway, he was sparring with a middle weight and broke dudes nose. I think he knocked BIzzaro out in the first round. Loma may give him a good fight but all he has to do is catch Loma once and he is out. Tank won over 200 amateur fights so Loma, having won two gold medals won’t intimidate Tank. Loma is a boxing master. Those Russian and Ukrainian fighters can throw them hands. Loma is also a converted Southpaw like Marvin Hagler and so is Ward. Tank is a natural Southpaw so that would be one helluva fight. Bud Crawford mastered fighting Southpaw. When he and Spence get down on October I got Bud by decision.

I fw tank but I hope his camp starts getting more fight specific sparring partners. He should be sparring tall come forward guys Mexican styled guys with high punch volume, not dudes sitting behind a shoulder roll and throwing one shot at a time, that’s now how Leo fights so how is it helping prepare for Leo? My only guess is these first few sparring partners we’re seeing is just general early camp work to get him sharp before bringing in the hard sparring

They’re probably just getting that ring rust off. Tank’s last fight was in December so it was definitely a good idea to put him in with a taller fighter that doesn’t throw a lot right now.
