♡ Where do you live? - Hamilton, Ontario, Canada :)
♡ Why do you refer to your baby as they/them? Because we don't share Bean's face, sex or name online.
♡ Where do you find mushroom broth powder? - Asian grocery stores have it. I show what the packaging looks like in this video: • Vegan Asian Grocery Ha...
♡ Why are you always wearing gloves? - I have eczema, and atopic dermatitis on my hands, so I wear gloves because of food safety and so they get less irritated.
♡ Is UA-cam your full time job? - Yes! Although I do freelance on the side to pay them bills.

Love your videos! Somehow even though you're a new mom now I still find you really relatable even though it's a lifestyle that is not at all for me. When you first announced Bean was coming I was worried this channel would become really baby centered (unsubscribed from a couple other creators for this reason), but I was pleasantly surprised that your content has stayed the same! And I am sure Bean will appreciate in the future how much you respect their privacy. Looking forward to new recipe videos

I totally lost interest in other channels once they had a baby too, I totally get it haha. I honestly have very little interest in creating baby content or content about Bean, so my content will continue to be about me, my cooking, my life, with the occasional background Bean :)

@@Thevietvegan I don't mind at all hearing Bean in the background or you mentioning what they are eating/doing etc. Hope it didn't come across that way!

No no! I totally understood what you meant haha. Baby focused content vs baby present in regular content are v different things!

NutritionFacts / Dr. Greger has a good couple videos running down the arsenic in rice issue, for anyone looking for more info on that. The basic TLDR of it is, rice grown in places that used to produce cotton is likely high in arsenic; rice grown in California, some parts of (most? idk) of India, Pakistan, and Thailand is low arsenic; rice from the southern US is going to be high (and I'd assume any US grown rice w/o a more specific origin label is from there). White rice has less arsenic than brown. Boiling pasta-method and draining gets rid of some. Organic doesn't matter. Lundberg Farms (a California rice grower) publishes their arsenic test results on their website.

The colors in that flannel shirt look really good on you! Thanks for the grocery haul! I love food. If I'm not eating it, I like to look at it. Plus, it provides inspiration.

Great haul! Yesterday, I had to decline paying $7.99 for moth-eaten-looking organic celery! Ouch!
Those VEGO bars….so good, but rich as heck! My favourite chocolate is Go Max Go Foods Cleo's White Peanut Butter Cups and regular Peanut Butter Cups…it says “may contain tree nuts” but otherwise it’s peanuts.

I thought I knew a lot about food since going vegan, but then having a baby and trying to feed them properly has made me learn a lot more XD

    Re: arsenic in rice
Live by the rice, die by the rice
But yeah, Cali and East Asian rice tends to have lower heavy metal levels than commercial rice grown in the Southern US

Oh my god Lisa, Vego is THE best vegan chocolate bar in the universe! The hazelnuts in the bar are whole roasted nuts so you may be able get a bit of the chocolate that doesn't have a nut in it, please don't take this as advice to eat the Vego bar but you said you sometimes risk a taste here and there !!! It is INCREDIBLE in my opinion and I'm 100% sure that Eddie will be totally addicted to it after just the first nibble, it's one of the few vegan bars I can get in an actual shop that I went out of my way to get for my Xmas chocolate!!!!

I'm not an expert either, but I think From my research rice grown in Thailand and also other areas on Asia tend to be low in arsenic.

That's a lot of plastic packaging.. do you guys not use reusable bags over there for your produce?

    • @malinblitz
      @malinblitz Рік тому

i'm gonna guess it's like what it is here (norway) where it largely depends on the chain, supplier, and wether the produce is imported or not. when i go shopping some stores will have mostly loose produce that you can pick yourself, while other places have mostly pre-wrapped produce, especially lettuce, cabbages, and leafy greens. in my experience asian supermarkets have a lot of pre-packaged produce because a lot of stuff is imported, probably to do with keeping it fresh during shipping.

What about using potatoes like rice? Would be something different to pair with like your vietnamese creations.
