    As I struggled with a problem in my life, a trusted friend gave me some perplexing advice. He said I just needed to "grow a pear." I thought, okay, I can do that. So, today I planted 3 pear trees. We'll see.

    I remember my father being so angry with us as children because you know what children do with those little balls of “fluff” ?… they blow on them to watch the magical seeds flying through the air. I can remember being directed to walk across the street to blow them anywhere but on our own lawn. (Didn’t always work) … as an adult my Dad gave me a forked dandelion tool to remove dandelions, it worked great for many seasons. Sadly I didn’t learn what great benefits the dandelion provides us until after I’d already given up my house and moved into a condo. Thank you for another beautiful video Kaye! Xx…

    Good Morning Kaye - You have some seriously loud cicadas chirping away in today's video! Don't have any dandelion growing as the grass has dried up from lack of rain but I do have some tea I bought a while back. I wonder what roasting the roots does for the tea nutritionally or maybe just for color. Seems like most of us have been sweating to death this summer and appreciate your sacrifices in bring us this informative video. Have a blessed week my friend..

      I know and I should have been wearing my mic but I went out with the intention of watering and saw those dandelions (which I had been contemplating filming) and made a U-turn, came in, put on makeup (didn't manage to brush my hair!!) and grabbed my camera. I'm so used to it, I don't pat attention when filming but when editing, I thought, wow, so loud it will bother some folks. Next time, I hope to be more prepared. Did the same thing last year the day I did my tomato varieties video and fell and broke kneecap. People mentioned how loug they were. Have a blessed week, too! God be with us in these perilous times.

      We too here in Maryland had dead, brown grass for much of the summer… the area has contract landscaping and they had not cut the grass, not just in my development but most of the entire city as the grass was so far gone almost all summer, maybe since the first week in June. I’m thankful we had the storm Debby come through because enough rain fell to make the grass green again. Our grass now looks pretty close to what I would expect any other year (color wise) and just this morning I heard the roar of lawnmowers. May your area be blessed with some rain soon!✌🏻

    I found that harvesting dandelion root is easier right after a frost in early fall. Dehydrated it lasts for a very long time. It's best to chop or grind as needed. I love eating the young leaves and making jelly from the flowers, but jelly lasts, so about every 2-3 years, I make more

    • @Latebloomershow
      @Latebloomershow  24 дні тому +2

      I will try and remember to do that. want you to inspire me to do the same this spring! When you dehydrate, how do you even out the size of pieces. When I roasted, the larger pieces were soft and the skinny pieces were nearly burned. The whole smelled for a bit, haha.

    • @Nannaof10
      @Nannaof10 24 дні тому

      @Latebloomershow I haven't roasted them yet. But I suppose I would chop them in as even as possible pieces. But I've only dehydrated them raw without washing. Just brush off because there's enzymes in the dirt. (Of course without any pesticides, etc)
      An old man shared his secrets with my closest friend. You can use a coffee grinder to grind the dried roots. He sprinkled over his foods, but it can be painstakingly put in capsules, too. He cured himself of the 'C' in his pr*$tate. Lived a long life after. Dandelion is alkaline. 🌼

    I purposely planted a couple dandelions in one of my blueberry pots last fall and this year I'm getting at least 3 times the berries I've ever had. Could be coincidence, I can't prove it helped. I'd heard that they bring nutrients down to the roots of other plants, like comfrey does, is why I put it there. I'm going to do the same for other plants and I'll know next year if it's just a myth.
