Wonderful, unique & brilliant talent. I spent my teen years loving his music in a small town in the USA. Unbelievably, many years later, I was at the front at this concert in London. What a night, I got to meet Ian afterwards. A highlight of my life.
Thanks Ian! This song's chorus saved my life back in the day. Fondly I remember the double album on heavy vinyl, with silky synthetic anti-static sleeves. This song gave me hope and determination to live and become somebody. Thanks again.
Me too, back in the 70's! And if it was raining, we'd be under the verandah of Rowley's House Museum. Fond memories. I remember hearing Ian Hunter on the radio one day, and he dedicated this song to everyone who'd ever waited to meet their boy/girlfriend at Barker Street bus station, so I suppose we can both consider it dedicated to us. 😊
I simply feel that the word or term "genius" gets thrown around way, way, way too much these days for my liking...at any rate, Ian Hunter is undoubtedly a freaking GENIUS !....really & truly.....
It goes down well, I cover this one on a regular basis, building myself up to Once Bitten... though I would require the requisite Strat for that on full screaming it's tits off (for the last verse at the very least!)
Ian is now 85, still recording, still knocking it out the park
Still, and always will be, one of the worlds greatest song writers

Cool mate!
Thank you Irene! Without you letting him down we may not even have heard of the main guy!
Ian Hunter is one of the most underrated artists ever.
What makes you believe he's underrated? Did you travel the globe taking a survey from every citizen of the world?
Agreed.
@@gogoyubari366 Well, in everyday life, he's certainly not over rated, is he? Not like some 'superstars' that don't deserve it.
he was my rock God of the 70s, listened to anything and everything he did, including Mott, still brings back those memories
Always so brilliant and humble too

I totally love this guy, Ian Hunter, rock on forever dude.
Although I do have to say he was a million miles better with Rono.
I too used to wait at the old Barker Street bus station in Shrewsbury after school where Ian Hunter used to look out for Irene Wilde.
