Do you guys have any data on ceramic coated vs non-coated cast manifolds in terms of under hood temps etc ? I would think that by keeping more of that heat within the manifold, that the turbo would respond a bit earlier as well under ideal conditions ?
@@danielleperez3516 it’s still spot on! Would 100% recommend one 👍🏼 I also run JMfabrications billet inlet manifold and the build quality is just as good
I want a tubular, but i'm just worried about the car burning down so i'd probably stick with the investment cast and factory heatshield. Most power id want to push is 700wheel anyway and it seems to be able to accommodate that.
I wish i went with a cast manifold / stock frame set up. I am currently running an EFR turbo / tubular manifold and have had my fair share of troubles. Between the manifold cracking + repair and my turbos oiling issues + repairs. I probably could have gotten a nice garrett GTX with the Investment cast manifold.
The same here. My JMF tubular manifold lasts about 2000 miles. I am tyred. I'm going to change to an stock frame set up (race cast manifold, GTX, external GW and 3" O2 pipe)
@@DAVINCIEVO I had the set up before. I was full bolt on in stock turbo making around 370whp. The cast manifold would have been the icing on the cake. I ended up selling my car because the oil issues got worse, my timing chain guides and tensioner went, the timing case was leaking bad and I was smoking like a mosquito fogger out the tailpipe. Gonna be careless for awhile but looking at the new Supra for the future
I always find the tubular manifolds make kind of a tinny noise when running which I don’t really like so I prefer the cast manifolds as they just seem more solid and sturdy.
I want to upgrade from the stock manifold to the cast manifold. My last SST trans service wiped me out, however I should be in the market by Black Friday!! C U soon..
SOOOO Glad you made this video!!! I was very indecisive on what manifold I should get for my build when that time comes. (Hopefully soon). I'm on all bolt-on with a tune right now. I always wanted a tubular manifold mainly because it looks badass and they say the flow is better. However I didnt know that the cast manifold was as good as you say it is and I know it is very popular in our Evo X world. Now I feel I'm more indecisive than before BUT it's a good thing. I certainly dont want to lose low end torque! I love that but I definitely need more power up top. My stock turbo just runs out of pwr up there. I will upgrade both but tryin to minimize low end torque as much as possible
Got myself a cast exhaust manifold that is modular from Corksport Mazda Performance. So I can change flanges down the road if I ever decide to change turbos :)
I went stainless steel and the heat in the engine bay is insane. Had to remove abs brakes and radiator as factory wasnt cutting it. Having second thoughts now cos that heat is a worry but the look is sweet. On an SR20DET
Both option won’t have EGT bung, at least tubular can be fitted easier. I have requested MAP if that’s feasible to do it on a cast manifold, but never got replied
Hoping You great guys went with the tubular set up to get a torque and HP to help out with the Choice of horsepower and torque amount to cost. Also, Definitely buying one!!
Make sure you torque them immediately after each heat cycle. I torque cold, start car idle it, torque again,. Once at operating temperature I'll torque again go for a drive and torque when I come back home and it's good. If you track the car and it's backing out you'll need either oem washers and nuts or nord lock washers and probably some wire to stop the nuts from backing out
Quick question. I've heard that tubular doesn't last as long as cast and is prone to cracking. Excuse my ignorance just reading reviews. Not sure if it's relevant. Related to desiel TD5 that pushed 700c temps
Would Map be willing to rent one of their jigs temporarily? I have a friend who unfortunately went with one of the cheap knock off tubular mani’s. It would be so much easier to refit it with a jig. The tube mani he purchased was from XS power. It didn’t have good reviews, either.
Hey, recently bought and installed your wrx stage 1+ package loved it... but having a little bit of a problem who can I contact to try and troubleshoot??
Hey MAPerformance i have a 2016 STI i want to get 400hp i went to KOZMIC (houston) to get more info but you guys don't have some of the parts that in looking for because i know you have fair prices and excellent parts is there any email or someone that i can contact and get me all the parts that i need or you guys can recommend me I really would like to buy from you guys instead getting ripped off from other places 😅.
Do these require a tune as a standalone mod on stock turbo? I.e changing it on a higher mileage Evo x as a preventative maintenance move before OEM one cracks, etc. Thanks !!
Our Evo X Investment Cast Manifolds are made from ultra high quality 310 stainless steel. The one we used in this video is an old prototype, the manifolds we ship out are superior in every way to the example in this video.

What manifold would you choose and why?
I run a JMFabrications v band manifold, billet head flange, good quality, easy turbo changes, better gains and looks 🔥

When someone admits the tubular manifold they make, will most likely not hold up long term. Bravo for the honesty.
Cast on my evo. Wasn't looking for peak performance or drag but for something that would withstand the test of time and the occasional lead foot
A great choice then! Thanks for watching!
I went with Cast and loving it. It’s stealthy and like you said I was able to retain the heat shield. Good for California 👍
How’s performance wise telling a difference ?

Hi! No tune is needed if everything else is stock! Many people install this as a maintenance item for the cracked OEM unit.
A high end tubular manifold will always make more power than cast/ported.
