I got a cargo bike in June (A Riese & Muller Load 75) and I've already put almost 1,200 km on it. It's fantastic, and such a great way to get around with kids, groceries, and stuff.
Congrats on that beauty, it really looks like a cute little workhorse, I’m very happy for you! :) To me compact cargo bikes with small but chunky tires present the perfect balance between looking like a beloved toy and being super useful for daily life. I riding a omnium mini for my daily commuter a it’s just ridiculous how much weight that one can handle. Adding a cargo bike to my bike collection, even a small one, changed my life more than any bike before that.
I love cargo bikes! I welded one up (smaller than your monopole, to fit in our tiny lift) and it's so easy as an everyday bike, but it takes my dog and groceries for my brother's restaurant. Glad to see you've got one too!
I found this channel and started watching your videos last Saturday (it's now Friday night here in Aus), having not rode a bike since BMXing at 16, 13 years ago. Yesterday I bought my first gravel bike and am ever so eager to ride it on many adventures. Thank you for the inspiration sir (ps where is that striped blue/white long sleeve shirt you always wear from)
Best handlebars, great choice! 🥰 Didnt realize it has belt steering as you showed it on Insta! Small cargobikes are the best! Our Omnium Mini is a great workhorse all year round as well. Hope you'll have a chance for some touring on the Monopole, would be interesting to see how it handles a day of bikepacking. Greetz! P.S: typicial Super 73 Rider at 13:37 😂😂
Great video as always! I could watch an hour long commute video-its jonestly very calming, feels as if I am commuting across Seoul myself. I hope someday you'll try a Burly cargo trailer attached to your other bikes and compare the ride experience with the Monopole. 😊
My anxiety levels were steadily increasing with the thought of you selling your North Face bag at the flee market with someone grabbing themselves a bargain. I've been looking for that exact bag for awhile but to know avail. 😂 Apart from the self imposed tension I thoroughly enjoyed the video. 👍🏻
We sold one of our two cars this year and replaced it with an Omnium cargo bike. Even though we are living in a small village with 10k people and I have to cycle 24km per day to work we absolutely love it. It's so much cheaper and we're a lot fitter than back in the days. I hope to get rid of the other car in a few years
I love my cargo bike (an acoustic Bullitt - in my profiule photo)! Kid, grocery, and errand hauling are much more fun on a cargo bike. Congrats on new-bike-day!
I like a collapsible crate for this style or long tail cargo bikes, I got one on US Amazon from QTJH that I like, but there's many out there with different dimensions. I liked the 8" deep one.
It is so funny, i want to buy this bike, but in Cologne is no Shop. I asked me if it is a comfortable or Sports driving style😂. And oh wunder you get one from Monopol to test ist😂. Nice thank you…so funny what you mean with Creapi follower way in the Video…so funny thank you❤
This is a great video, and it’s so cool that monopole reached out to you! I don’t have the space or funds for a cargo bike right now but I did recently acquire a burley travoy (a v cool folding bike trailer) and I’m already excited about the possibilities. Hashtag carryshitolympics!
I love cycling and do recycling. Been mostly cycling at work for a year now. Currently I'm living close by. But any bicycle instead of car only works in 10 km radius maximum as daily. Or 30 km max for one way and commute only. Yet, imagine you need to get to the only doctor available and back to work and it is 150 km one way distance. Or I just want to visit my relatives. 1.5 hour car drive vs at least four hours on bus and two trains. This is my reality in Belgium. I went on road bicycle this distance. Seven+ hours... Yet, it seems everywhere with presence of hieroglyphs cycling instead of car makes a lot more sense :)
I don’t think bikes could replace cars for everyone, hence the word ‘potentially’ in the title. However, for most city dwellers, they could certainly replace some car journeys.
Awesome new bike!! I've been curious about the Pinion drive for a while. It looks like a perfect combo with a cargo bike. I'm pretty jealous, your basket looks gigantic compared to my wald 137 on a surly 6 pack rack.
I'm currently in the market for an cargo bike, for daily use. Have you ever transported something heavy with the Monopole? For example two six packs of 1,5l water bottles or a big beer crate? That's always my reference for a cargo bike, how it feels with heavier load. Do you think this could be a potential daily driver from it's "ride characteristics"? ... with the indirect steering and the load area in the front? What's your opinion?
In the video I carried two large suitcases probably over 30kg (the rack is rated) 30kg. It handled it very well. One you’re going along you don’t really feel it. Steering feels like on a normal bike, doesn’t feel indirect. I quite like a front load, I’d rather push then pull. I’ve only had it a couple of week but so far so good.
MONoPOLE has a frame listed as "Large". I am 6'-4" with a 34" inseam. Do you think this bike would work for me if I used a longer stem and bars with a higher rise, or would I just be a tall guy on a small blke?
@@probablyriding Thanks. What frame size are you riding in the video, and what is your height? I am working with Yuri at MONoPOLE to purchase my frameset, and I just want to make the best choice possible.
Hi,from paul in salford UK,I think the concept of a mini cargo bike is a great idea, the best of both worlds ,I think there is a gap in the market for these bikes, especially looking that good,am celebrating 3 yrs with no car, just a bike now,not as long as you good self, are you self taught when it comes to bike assembling?
I think there are going to be a lot more compact cargo bikes coming out. Yes, self taught mostly from Park Tool and other UA-cam videos. Pinion has really good videos tutorials to set up their gearboxes.
Really interesting to see that the founder of FREITAG, the bag brand, is also a co-founder of Monopole. I wonder if you got a little FREITAG accessory with the bike ^^
Otherwise try a bike trailer, same load volume. Sure less heavy lift capacity than a cargo bike. But for loads up to 40 kg/ 88 lbs a trailer will fine. Much cheaper too.
I converted my kids Burley Bee trailer to a cargo trailer and wouldn't be without it now! Will probably get a cargo bike when the money tree has grown back a bit.

I will never willingly be without a cargobike, and I’m sure that in a year from now you will wonder how you ever managed. In other matters, I notice that you must be using some form of chest cam mount, as do I sometimes, but I’ve never found a comfortable one. Do you have any suggestions?
Very pleased to have a cargo bike. I’m sure I’ll be using plenty! I use the insta 360 go3. I like the size and ease of use. It does act buggy sometimes but hopefully the next firmware update will fix that.

It’s a fun bike. I wonder how many sausage rolls it could carry?
