Hello, i know your video was posted a while back, did your floor get wet when you were using the rug cleaner? I am debating if I need to bring out the rug in the garage coz I dont want to flood my floors. thanks!
@@jerold108090 hello, yes! It did get wet but not flooding wet.. I guess it also depends on the thickness of your rug.. this rug is super thick so that might be one of the reason why my floor is not soaking wet. Unless your floor is waterproof I recommend you do this in the garage if you have space there plus it dries a lot faster outside if you open your garage door! I hope that helps. This is how I usually clean them now since this ones are thin rugs.
I have a white shag rug to clean. A company wants to charge me $250. After watching your video i am going to do it myself. Slowly.

@@katrinadixon1823 yeah no! I got mine cleaned by professional carpet cleaner before too but it didn’t really get cleaned in my opinion. So I just clean them myself now that’s why I invested in this machine. 😊

I was looking for how to clean my large shag. I'm looking at my floors like I think we have the same type of flooring. I thought I had the same carpet cleaner too, but then you took the hood off. 🤯 I'll have to take a look at mine later. I've struggled with cleaning that part. So that alone would just be so awesome.

And yes being able to take the hood off makes it a lot easier to clean cause a lot of little crumbs and hair gets stuck there!😊

Hey I have a question, wonder if you could answer it
Do you not getting yellowing/browning? Both my shag rugs had yellow or brown stains after using the same solution you're using. It happens due to the PH levels of the solution being too high, which is why every professional carpet cleaner does an acid rinse at the end of the process - to bring back the PH levels and prevent yellowing.
So I wonder if you ever encountered that? It looks like no home-cleaner talks about it and literally every professional cleaner does, and from my experience it happens every time.
One of the causes for this is that the shag rug holds too much of the moisture, and this bissell vaccum is having a REALLY hard time sucking out the moisture. So the solution isn't getting removed all the way and the yellowing is more significant. Which is another thing I've wondered about your video, how come your vacuum works so well when mine is having a hard time spinning the spinners and sucking out the moisture (the rug fibers are getting latched onto the spinners causing them to barely spin).
Anyway, sorry for the rambling, I've spent 4 days cleaning one rug because the vacuum was too weak to pull out the dirt and moisture, and trying to fix the yellowing with vinegar, and yesterday I tested a small part of my other rug which turned out brown today. Spent hundreds of dollars on solutions and equipment, hours and hours on learning how to do it, so I'm frustrated! Hah

I have never experienced yellowing or our rug & carpet getting stuck in my Bissel machine ever!
I have this machine for years now (not sponsored!) and our rugs is older than the machine too and still looks the same, I mean it doesn’t look brand new but it’s in very good condition and no problem with color stains whatsoever! I also make sure I used very warm water like smokin’ hot when I’m cleaning! I’ve seen other people run another rinse of just very warm water after each cleaning cycle to rinse the chemical off. I’ve never done it cause I personally didn’t feel the need to do it! 🤷🏻♀️ I’m sorry that you’re not getting the same result as I did. 🥹 I love my Bissel rug cleaner up to this day and I use it not just on rugs and carpet but also for our couch and car interiors! 😬
Which vacume do you wish you had instead of the stick one you have for shag rug? Is that stick vacuum good?

Can the Little Green Pro (also by Bissell) clean a 7x10ft shag carpet? Or you think I really need the Big Bissell?
I’m not sure if this little machine can handle a shag rug since they have longer file than normal carpet, I don’t have this machine so I can’t tell you but you can try and see if it works I guess!🤷🏻♀️
But 1 thing I know for sure is that it’s probably going to take you a long time to clean a 7x10 size rug with this little green machine cause this are meant for little job or spot clean I think! 🤔🤷🏻♀️
I bought the same vacuum to use on my shag rug but when I use it on my rug the bristles stop spinning. Im a bit disappointed! 😔

I have 2 of the 8x10 Safavieh Shag Rug and those are really thick rugs. I use this machine all the time and no problems at all. I’m not sure why yours did that, I love my Bissell up to this day, I have it for about 5 years now I think and it still runs like it’s new. I’m not sponsored or anything I just love the product and I thought it was one of my good cleaning investment. I used it to clean our couch, car rugs, area rug and runner and our normal carpet. It works amazing for me everytime. 😊
Same experience here, I bought this vacuum specifically for my shag rug but the bristles either stop spinning or make a really loud rattling noise and burnt smell. The long fibers are getting caught in spinners and latching on them, which also ends up tearing them away slowly. Not sure how this is not happening here hah
Hey girl, you should use the hoover powerscrub deluxe the bristles are different so they won't get caught on rug

It does. But my floor is waterproof is i don’t mind!

As a carpet cleaner, these vacuums are garbage. I promise you that if I went over this rug with my tools, id get another 50 litres of dirt out.
wouldn’t be surprised considering the water was still black on the 3rd time. tells me that the rug is still filthy
