I love my "G" reaction rod and Triggers and ACT Trigger all 3 of my ALG EMR Rails. I wish I had a 8.5" EMR Rail for Heavy Barrel and a 15" Rail for a 1" × 24" Bull barrel.
Tips: Use a pipe cap on one end of the 12" nipple. makes for a helpful hand stop for your hand and the threads won't cut you......*OR* you can use a 15/16th " open end wrench ...*OR*.... a 12" Adjustable Wrench. I had a brand new 12" Cresent brand adj. wrench I'd never had the chance to use since I bought it, and it was by my workbench... so I used it to install my ALG Defense ERM V-2 "Ergo" rail. I do think using a 15/16th inch open end wrench would be best though, due to it's lighter weight and thus better 'feel" during the final 'torqueing" with the Purple Wrench. FWIW.. I really love this ALG Defense EMR V2 handgaurd (rail) on my AR 556. I got it and a few other items from ALG and Geissele Automatics on BF sale too. Money saved off the sale, was spent on more Geissele tools I got a great deal on all of it, IMHO. Especially for Geissele quality and workmanship. I also bought the ALG FSS forged 7075 T-6 Q.D. sling swivels (VERY lightweight at .5 oz) , Geissele Reaction Rod, Gas Block Punch Pin Tool ,Gas Block Roll Pin Tool, as well as the Geissele Trigger Fitting Pin too. Mr. Geissele, I am tremendously impressed by the ingenuity, quality and craftsmanship of all your products. And I've been working on cars/H-Ds for over 40 years. Thanks for you dedication !
looking forward to getting mine delivered. just ordered it about half an hour after I saw this video. also happy to support a Pennsylvania company...it should also be pretty quick to get to me since I live in PA.
Well done Sir... I thank you for making this thorough video. I have a 15" V2X on the way to upgrade my M&P Sport II O.R. It's really gonna change the look of the gun :)
I think lots of people want a 1/2 inch hole in the wrench simply because most, or many people building an AR already have a torque wrench or at least a 1/2 breaker bar. That's easier than buying or scrounging around looking for a pipe piece. It's a great install system that makes lining the gas tube up easy. I don't think people want to bypass that when they ask for a hole for a torque wrench, they just want an alternate way to grab that wrench to tighten it. I like the rail & the barrel nut & install is great, I will be buying one, and then another & later, maybe a third.
I would have to agree with this. It cost me $9 to buy a pipe and I already have torque wrenches / breaker bars. Not sure I understand Bill's logic here. He must have pre made thousands of these wrenches and does not want to go back and fix them. My guess is that one day we see a 1/2" hole in these
Excellent product and very detailed video. Started installation, and put wrench on the wrong side. After removing barrel nut - found out that color labels on the shims is gone. Also, looks like black shim was not correct thickness. Will be getting micrometer to verify, but my experience should not stop anybody from buying this product. Product of excellent quality, wish I saw this video before started installation.
how did the emr rail go? Good install? Still have it? Would u do it again..or suggestion another company? considering this for 16inch barrel. .would be getting the 15in guard
The install went smoothly. The rail is durable. I have no complaints other than aesthetically it doesn't look as nice as the Geiselle SMR. I also like Midwest Industries M-lok rails.
Well mine replaced a fugly Rock River Quad rail. Looks are in the eyes of the beholder. This a 16 inch Mid Length Gas system AR with a 1/9 twist mostly shooting 55gr M193 at 0-600 yards. It gets the job done from the bench and the bays at the range.
I have the Geissele Reaction Rod. It's cheap insurance against damaging the receiver IMHO. It's so useful for building an AR, or modding your AR. As long as you own a vise. And you know you're gonna build an AR or three more, to add to the one you have now...
I'm not sure if anyone has said it, but a good thing to use as a form of thread locker that you don't want permanent, is the automotive gasket maker in the little tubes. Any color works well. And will also take some heat. Put a dab in the hole and install screws. It will hold enough for the screws to not move, but easy to break free when you want them to.
13:18 "You can't use too much lubricant." LOL, YEAH, you say that now. Wait until that barrel gets cranking hot for the first time and there's hot, stinking grease dripping all over the place. That said, I just finished installing the EMR V2 on my gun about 10 minutes ago. What a great product. It was a pretty high value purchase, dollar per quality point. I think I'm going to like this tube. Review en route.
im never going to buy this rail i just like listening to BG talk about stuff. i must have watched his 30min vid describing triggers 20 times. i did buy 3 of those tho lol
These are awesome hand guards. I am very happy with the two I have.
Great video i just ordered one of these rails. Plus i ordered a Mk13 rail couple weeks ago love your products !
You’re BRILLIANT #BillGeiselle can I atleast be your chauffer?? But seriously!!!!....No wonder you’re Numero Uno!!..

Feel like I just went to a college engineering course watching this video. Amazing!
Lol. Same here. Great Instructor.
Thank you for making this video! It's always good to see the mad scientist behind these great products!

You’re a genius, Bill! Thx! 👌🏽
I want to use my ft lb torque wrench not a pipe
brilliant design. Man, I love good engineering.

Very nice informational video.
I'll be referencing back to your video when my rail gets here.
Thanks again.

I agree that a 1/2" opening for a torque/breaker bar would be a lot better.

Engineers hate, I mean HATE, to see otherwise intelligent individuals put that GI barrel nut wrench on a torque wrench without the 90 degree angle.

"That guy", "those guys".
Best bang for the buck rail available.
Good video - thank you.
Waiting on mine in the mail. Thanks for the video and the awesome Black Friday deal!

+BAD45 Acp ...lol so its kinda ugly?..well i want to build a sexy functional rifle that is durable as heck

Anybody know inside diameter of the EMR V3, it only has for the v1 and v2 on the site. Hoping this bigger than the 1.46 on the v1&2.
The reaction rod is a perfect idea. Pricey though for just one gun assembly.

Okay Bill Okaaaaay!! lol GENIUS THOUGH!!..👍
If one has machine shop and mechanical experience, the 'long explanations" are quite interesting. It's nice to know "the rest of the story".......

15/16th open end wrench works in lieu of a 1" pipe.
I used an adjustable wrench. Works like a champ.
I'd still love to see that promised video on the "bomb proof" gas block install. Great explanations of the design and engineering considerations...
Great Video.
Great Product.
Bill is a very smart dude - this is some seriously hi-tech stuff.
Love it.
Bill, thank you for the video. Did you ever post a vid for the installation of the Gas Block?

AWESOME Handguard Rail . A bit more yak-yak-yak at the beginning than needed. LUV your product. Respectfully, John

well dang, my Gunsmith is an idiot than
