I just discovered your channel and its becoming one of my favorite watch channels! You communicate in a well-read, but not pretentious, kind of way. Love it!
My top watches from last year was a Christmas present for myself--a San Martin SN051-G in blue(Omega Seamaster 300 Heritage) and an Octopus Kraken homage to the Omega Seamaster 300m. Both are excellent homages to a wonderful brand. I also have an "almost had"--a Rolex day/date that could've had from a thrift store for $150 + tax. It was an "almost had" because I looked at it (obviously to see if it was real) and thought I would come back on it. When I came back it had already been bought.
My wife also hates automatics, and also stole my SWC Ark. She wears it all the time and it’s now hers. Every time I see it, I think- wow, what a great looking watch.
Thank you for all your great content so far! Your story telling and photography are impeccable! My watch of 2022 is definitely the CW BelCanto! You deserve about 10 times more subscribers than you currently have!
I got a feeling that Seiko stumbled upon making the Mojito as nice as it is. Because the Cocktail line has a playful, whimsical connontation to it, a piece like the Mojito is cheaper than it would be if it was simply released as a standalone.
Hi Shane - I live in Dallas (well in a suburb called McKinney, Stonebridge Ranch), TX too and love all things Texas like you! I am also a scuba diver and I have a large collection of watches (I need to sell some, this is beginning to be a problem). I didn't know that Jack Mason is in Dallas, I will have to check it out. Oh, by the way, I have enjoyed all your videos of 2022! I hope you have a very happy and successful 2023 my friend!
Nice selection of various watches Shane!👌🏼 I’ve got 2 Cuda model watches & yep the lume is ABSOLUTELY NUTS!😍🤤 I like the metal case for the Casio AE1200. I have several models, actually 4, & have worn 2 of them the last 2 days!😎👍🏼🇦🇺
This year I added Tissot seastar and at the same time I got PRIM, vintage from 60's form my lovely wife. Both are amazing and love them. Hope to get Sinn next year. Great 2022 choices!
Great list Shane. I think I must order me up a Cuda. I just love me some lume. Just trying to decide on dial color. One of my favorite watches of 2022 is the Aquatico Sea Star bronze watch. I just ordered the new version as well with T100 tritium tubes and SW200 high beat movement.
I got the green full lume, it's so dang cool and its nice for almost everyday for me and where I am from (a sunny island). Though after a week I do imagine the blue or white being a better everyday watch since they seem less busy.
The videos that you make are very detailed and onto point for a watch collector. I just recently started on this journey. I wanted your take on : TISSOT CHEMIN DES TOURELLES POWERMATIC 80. Would you rank it anywhere close to the rankings you have provided in the video?
As always a great video! My favourite watch for me was my Breitling Superocean Heritage 42. It is the previous model on a mesh bracelet with the unusual colourway of a silver/white dial and blue bezel. Wore it alot when wearing something blue. Apart from that, my Rado Captain Cook in black also copped a lot of wear. Happy New Year!
2:25 i think the main improvements I would add would be an inwardly sloping border around the date window and a day feature. I know the latter would mess with the default-mid-century-dial look it’s going for, but I’m just thinking it would be congruent-and enhance-the strong basic functionality it’s going for.
This year, I sold off a few & promised myself I’d sell a few more, & bought a blue BB58! It has barely left my wrist since I got it in August. I did put it on a Forstner “O” bracelet; I couldn’t get a comfortable fit with the Tudor bracelet.
My top watch is my Zelos Aurora w MOP mosaic dial. Why the top? Because it is mine!. I don't have many watches yet and will not spend major $$ on watches this close to retirement. It is a jewel of an inexpensive watch for a boomster like me. It is a one watch collection that can do it all. It is unique, tough, comfortable and good looking. All this for under $450. I luv your top 10. Hopefully, I can add some of them to my modest collection. My taste in watches seems to run very close to yours. Thanks for your work and blessings for the new year!
The Axios watch looks very nice, however I think they use blue AR which would look 👎🏼 on this dial. On the teal coloured dial it might be 👍🏼 but 38mm is a bit small for me.
Enjoyed your picks and thoughts. I've been tempted by the Wise. Wish it had a bracelet . Can't decide between the colors, Though I keep telling myself I don't have a red dial watch. Happy New Year!
Here we go again, more watches i didnt know about that i now must have, thanks for that, i own an Adamascus AD8 blue which is a stunning watch, id say my best purchase of 2022
I have been saving up for a Grail, so every watch that I DON'T buy is a minor victory. But I did cave in and get an Armitron Griffy- 0% regrets! Solid value to price, great feeling watch. I love Casio and own a few, but the Griffy- just pushes all the right buttons for me. My top pick of 2022.
I love those too. I have the gold/red but usually wear the steel/blue and my favorite: the steel/green. I wish they'd make a steel/white, the black bracelets look like they'd age quickly and poorly. Oh well, they're awesome watches and everyone seems to really like them.
I probably bought and sold about 10 watches this last year and for me the zelos spearfish GMT was the top purchase. Maybe because I got the stunning aventurine dial but I just love the quality and comfort.
I'm late to this New Year's party (video) since I've been busy with a family party, but always love this video series. Thanks again for a year of great reviews that really help. I guessed a number of the watches that would be on this list but didn't try to guess the order. Keep it up in 2023 and continue to be the best watch channel on UA-cam. Happy New Year.
Great bunch of watches. My watch of the year was an unusual one for me. It is a solar powered Pulsar chronograph that I love. A motor sports theme with 100m water resistance that can stay alive up to 5 months in darkness. Of course Pulsar was a Hamilton company that released the iconic Pulsar LED watch in 1972. It was sold to Seiko in 1978 and is a brand with very high sales and often ignored by watch channels for some reason. They seem to be more popular in Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
Sounds cool. One of my first watches was a solar pulsar 3 hander. I made a video about it a while ago, but at this point it's over 20 years old and still working.
Great review. I actually prefer the Spearfish to the Seiko. Best watch I reviewed this year was the Christopher Ward C63, even though I reviewed a Tudor and a Rolex
Hi Shane Good choices, as I'm not really into divers my top three would be 1 Straum Opphav 2 Axios Tribune 3 Seiko Mojito keep up the good work always look forward to your reviews HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and your family
Great selection of watches. In relation to No. 1, the Seiko, there was a question in your original review about whether the bezel is aluminium. I have the 63 mas PADI version special edition 2018. I think the bezel is the same. If so I can definitely tell you that it is aluminum because I have scratched mine however it appears to have some diashield coating on the bezel giving it some protection and the scratch is less noticeable.
Hi Shane, good video as always. I enjoy your low key balanced approach. I own the Straum in blue and green. I was on the waiting list for Anordain then discovered Straum and thought "I can buy two watches for less than one and not wait 2 years, I'll take it." I love what you did with your Casio Royale. Would you tell me exactly which Casio model to purchase and which SKX Mod model to purchase? Thank you and I wish you a great 2023.(I'm also on the waiting list for a Helm Vanuatu, I'll get back to you in 3 years on that one!!!)
I think I started off with a standard AE-1200WH-1AVCF, but pretty much any AE-1200 should do. Then the case and bracelet are here: www.skxmod.com/products/matter-version-modding-kits-for-ae-1200-1300-series?sku=18055037862166701075640759 I used the Full Black with Gold button case. San Martin Original Design NH35 Automatic Watch SN085-G. Awesome design, gorgeous watch. Not named by you or any other channel. I don't see how this one got overlooked. (You have a great channel, by the way. You're a really good presenter with excellent delivery. Much appreciated.)
My favorite watch if this year is my Chris Ward Trident pro 600. I purchased it 2 weeks before they announced the trident pro 300, so I have the bulkier watch. Probably my most worn watch is my San Martin SN004 LE red pip diver.
I have a problem with your list of the top 10 watches for 2022. My problem is I like almost everyone of these choices and feel I need to buy many of them. And with a collection as large as mine that is a big problem! Thanks for bringing these watches to our attention. Lots of winners here!
Nice picks, including a few from brands I hadn't heard of. My "shopping/watches/brands" bookmarks folder continues to grow in size. My personal favorite acquisition from last year was a $300 watch: the Zelos Swordfish 40mm in "Ember Orange". The fully lumed dial is well done (of course), the case shape & finishing are pleasing, and the bracelet is _impressive_ especially for the money I paid. The quick-adjust works a treat, and that'll be really handy in the Summer. I just wish they'd make more of these excellent watches because they were sold out in mere minutes. Anyhow, my watch obsession/addiction is still going strong and I think you do a great job, so I'll be staying tuned this year! All the best to you. 🍻
Happy New Year from Vancouver 🇨🇦, Shane. Thanks for all the awesome videos… your unpretentious style is what brings me back every time. With regard to the watches, good choice on the Seiko MM200… it is HIGH on my wish list! I am visiting my AD this week and I just need to decide between the SPB299J1 and the new SPB333J1 Turtle. Tough choice, but I am leaning towards the MM200. We will see when I get there 😊. Also, I had no idea that Jack Mason had a brick and mortar store… even more of a reason to visit my family in Texas!
Seiko save the ocean blue turtle for me. I was going to buy the number 1 on the list, but ended buying the seiko shark teeth alpinist and the turtle. Got 2 for the price of 1.
Oh Bam, Bro: right from the intro you got some Jeff Daniels going on. Love it! Keep polishing it up and you never know... (watch that cover still though, avoid those unders, never get too cocky cool unless you can keep the spec to match ;) ------- ---- -- - ps i dunno where to sneak this in but it's "intents and purposes" just in case (i'm sure you knew)
Can you do review on watch cases? Nice rouch with the fidget at 11:05 You are on the Jack Mason site, in one of their pictures, well does look like you...😮
Do you mean travel cases or like bigger watch boxes? That’s probably me. They hosted a meetup with Nodus and a few other brands a couple weeks ago. They aren’t too far from me so I went, got there just as they started taking some photos. So just luck that I’m in them.
Sort of. It sounds like they were in development about the same time. Yet they are in totaly differnt price ranges and function differently. The NH34 is set to be a fantastic movement for afordable "Caller GMTS". While the 9075 is a higher beat "true GMT" or "travelers GMT" setup.
I love my baby Marine Master 200 Save the Ocean too! Definetely overpriced, but the dial is so interesting and I love the case shape. So when I found a good deal, I jumped on it and I wear it a lot indeed.
I heard the LJP movement was like a Miyota 9015 so I asked a watchmaker who had one and he said it was totally different. They do look similar but, and this is what he said, they're not related other than both being owned by Citizen.
Happy new year! Thanks for all the great reviews ! Own 3 of the watches on your list. Hmmm. Your fault?😂 The Straum in green, matches the paint on my Bullitt mustang, and a white dial. Adamascus diver, beautiful watch. Then the burnt orange spearfish. Just stunning in the sun. Love the glacier Seiko for num one. I am drawn to the white silver dial Willard . Love the Willard case shape. Thanks again.
Thanks for another great year! Make sure you let me know what your top watch of last year was.😎
My top is my AVI-8 Blakeslee P-51 pilot/chrono. Can't stop admiring it
I just discovered your channel and its becoming one of my favorite watch channels! You communicate in a well-read, but not pretentious, kind of way. Love it!

My wife also hates automatics, and also stole my SWC Ark. She wears it all the time and it’s now hers. Every time I see it, I think- wow, what a great looking watch.

Great list, love the Straum Opphav, and the Seiko MMR at No. 1. Wishing you happiness and health in 2023.
Thanks, same to you.

Finally the Straum made somebody’s 2022 list! I have a black & a white. Best watch of ‘22 in my opinion. Simply stunning.
It's an amazing watch, more people should know about them.

Nice list, Shane. Thanks for including that SWC.
Glad you liked it. Hope your doing well.
I, for one, am very glad you kept the Mojito since I was able to jump on the Bambino 👍😁. Thanks, Shane, and Happy New Year!!

Thanks! I've never seen that Tissot, so hard to really rate it. But it's one I've also been interested in getting. Maybe in a few months.
What do you think of the Yema Navygraf FSM steel? Just got one and love it. Clean lines, history and loads of design style!
Yemas look really nice. Have to try one at some point. Would love to get the new micro rotor slim one, but a bit pricey.
I don't think I disagree too much with any of these, but the winner for me is the Strat-o-timer, followed by the Adamascus.
Happy new year! My best 1000 dollar range watch purchase for 2022 was the seiko sto marinemaster200 you have.

I'm hoping they will be out within a few months, but you never know with production these days.
Is the Miyota 9075 Miyotas response to Seiko's NH34 release?
Sort of. It sounds like they were in development about the same time. Yet they are in totaly differnt price ranges and function differently.
The NH34 is set to be a fantastic movement for afordable "Caller GMTS". While the 9075 is a higher beat "true GMT" or "travelers GMT" setup.
@@RelativeTime thanks Shane.
I love my baby Marine Master 200 Save the Ocean too! Definetely overpriced, but the dial is so interesting and I love the case shape. So when I found a good deal, I jumped on it and I wear it a lot indeed.
Thank you. If Straum make that watch with 37mm diameter, I will be interested to buy .
I'm curious to see what they make next, it would be nice if it was a smaller.
@@RelativeTime Yes. Because dial is so big and dominant. Keep up a good work.
Great video
Thanks!
Great year of reviews! I am not surprised by the Seiko being #1. Looking forward to 2023!
Great watches. Think you nailed your top watch
Happy new year
Paul
I heard the LJP movement was like a Miyota 9015 so I asked a watchmaker who had one and he said it was totally different. They do look similar but, and this is what he said, they're not related other than both being owned by Citizen.
Intersting. That was the rumor when it first came out. I wonder what it's based on then.
Would have been good if you have tagged price along.......
My favourite quartz watch is the CWC FatBoy!!
That's cool. I haven't seen that one before.
The CWC line of watches are fantastic with direct link to British military.
I’m going to check out jack mason now!
You are from Dallas?? Man, when I'll come to see my man Luka live we can meet?!? 🤓
