I'll be following, as I'm already subscribed. I lived aboard a 40 foot sailboat for six years, with my wife and daughter, and know the highs (and lows) that you will face. Our toughest passage was with gusts of 63 knots and 22 foot (6.7 meter) waves, lasting three days. We had three days of that weather on our very first passage, and began to rethink the whole thing. Fortunately, that was the worst we ever saw as we sailed from Washington state to southern Mexico. Keep your safety harness on, even when you don't think you'll need it. ALWAYS tell someone when and where you will be going, even if it's only in the dinghy. Stay safe, you two. FAIR WINDS !
Hey Merritt! Thank you so much for your support! Wow. that sounds --- INTENSE. And your first passage? Insane. Thank you for your words of wisdom and advice. Appreciate it 😀
Given your weather at Sandringham (?), he was de icing !!! LOL Nice to see you guys cast off, lots of memories from our fist voyages. Well done > ? !! PS, spray a little silicone on the slides for your hatch - you will thank me later!
It was savage alright! Currently trying to upload the next episode off an island... with slow 3G reception..... IT'S KILLING ME! Hope to get 'episode 8' out to you asap... 62% uploaded and (slowly) counting!!
Kristina & John, Good start to your journey, even if it was a bit sketchy the day before. It's great that you have knowledgeable friends that will guide you and cheer you on. John, if wet feet are your biggest concern then all is good. 😉😂
Let the ADVENTURES BEGIN!! can't wait to see what next week brings! It is Very cool that you guy's have an experienced buddy boat to begin the journey. As always, thank you for sharing!
What a kind thing to say. Gosh... could you imagine. Who knows... but I have my fingers crossed, but also have no expectations. Just going with the wind 😀 x
Malc from uk here Good luck & God speed to you both I’ve subscribed so you can’t turn me off watching the the highs and lows - whatever just keep smiling and carry on -have a great trip and thank you for sharing xx
Oh amazing. Hey Malc! So awesome to have you here with us so early on this adventure. Thanks so much for your support and kind words. 🙌❤️ I've tried to capture all the highs and lows for you, so stay tuned. Just trying to upload 'episode 8' off an island with hardly no reception. 2 days of uploaded and I'm up to 63%!! 😳😭
Haha, thanks matey! It's always nice to know someone is watching and keeping a close eye on us... particularly now.. when we're 50 nautical miles off shore... with no AIS... YEP.. it just died. I hope you have good spider senses! 😂🙌🥰
Lol. New boats are so nerve wracking. We’re just upgrading to a 45 ft cat from a 38ft one in Brisbane and I’m nervous like I’ve never sailed one before.
They keep saying you grow into it, but ours doesn’t feel any smaller yet 😅 possibly something to do with only having a weeks sailing experience when we got it 😬 I’m sure with your time on the 38 you’ll make it look easy 😁👌🏻
A few of you guys have been saying this...!! I'll try making the next one longer for y'all!!! 😃🙌 Thanks for the feedback too -- ALWAYS appreciated. I'm new to this sailing/VLOGing thing, so -- much love x
@@KristinasTravels you post great content, the production is top notch as in the way you tell your story. I think it's fair to say we can all tell that this is very real for you both and isn't just another vlog of someone trying to be a UA-cam star. And your enthusiasm is so refreshing to see, so are the dolphins and whales btw. Stay safe and when on deck always stay connected to the boat. Because we're all invincible until we're not.
Kristina, you have a very clean galley! I have been watching sailing video’s for a long time. This has been one of the cleanest. My husband mentioned this. You also keep up your appearance♥️
And now it all begins. Don’t forget to put out a fishing line. I also see you took some pictures of the boats sinking I told you about, great. Maybe the airline pilot can give a talk about weather on what happened that day ?
Yes!! Ps. we caught our first monster fish the other day. HOLY MOLY. What a beaut! It was GREAT timing because I was really running low of supplies in the fridge. We had hardly any protein left, so it was a godsend! But, there was this drama... when I accidentally changed gears mid way through.. and coiled up all the line. BIT OF A DISASTER. Can't wait to show you that episode hahaha
@@KristinasTravels oh no you left me hanging in there. LOL hope all is going well. I have a new job and that is delivering 35-100 foot boats about Australian which was meant to start in January this year but because of covid have not been able to do anything. Any way , looking forward to your big fishing story.
Thanks Joel!! Well.... I was freezing. And I had 6 layers on.... I think the temp at night would have been 3-7 degrees Celsius... 😬 maybe not cold for some, but on long watches - it chilled me to the bone!
Thanks Mark! I’ll try and make the next ones a little longer 😄 They take a while to edit - and there’s so much to see along the way. I’m jugging trying to get the videos out to y’all vs. having my head up against my laptop screen haha! Thanks so much for the love and support ❤️ 20 mins next time?! 😂🤣
Ohhh, this makes ME so happy! Thanks Andy. It makes me SMILE to know you're enjoying this journey with us. It takes me about 2 days or so to edit, plus filming on top, so we LOVE to hear your feedback! Thanks for taking the time to show your love and appreciation x
Great pace with your initial videos. We bought our SO49 from Sandringham in July 2021 & paid for a delivery skipper yo escape VIC’s closed borders… so I feel like we’re your twins! ⛵️
OHHHHHHH DEREK!!!!! So nice to hear from you! How are you going with your repairs? We just made it to Bundaberg, and are off to Lady Musgrave today ☺️ Hope to see you up here soon!
@@derekhickey1 hey Derek! Good to catch you on here, glad to hear the repairs are done and you’ll be on your way to the GC : ) hope to see you along the coast somewhere soon!
Hahha good luck :) that dinghy will end up being a.drama strapped on the front. You will be using it nearly every day. Should have stern mounted it so can just lower it in and out :)
Too right it’s a bit of a pain, lucky we have electric winches and way more halyards then we need so it’s doable. It was the quickest solution though, we just needed to get going. Will look into the stern mount or possibly davits down the track, will be infinitely easier to just lower it off the back 😆👌🏻
Wow what a FIRST video of your Channel. Personally I think this is a perfect start. (For both of us) YES I've subscribed and tick ALL notifications. Question is???? When is the next video...🤠

🤣🤣🤣🤣 Are you serious‼️
DEADLY! Haha!
Much WoW
motor cruisers are vulnerable to storm .
Those jacklines are worthless. You will just get dragged behind the boat if you slip. The whole point is to keep you ON the boat.
What happened to the sinking boat?
Very misleading. For this i will unsubscribe.
There were plenty of sinking boats. 😐
i think she meant the ones in the marina after the storm.
There are precisely three sunk boats in the video 😂
Loved your video ! Exciting times ahead ⛵️💫
@TT It's a boat. It's full of water. What do you think happened!?! 🤔🤔😁 🤷♂️
