On the Warlock/caster side, there is a simple counter to this counter: Just cast any spell that won't harm you (too) much. Because all you need to do is to trigger that first timer. Then after that, you need to wait around five seconds for it to run out. And then after that, you're free to cast spells once again.
believe it or not, most warlock mains cant compute that, i've seen in real time how they're thinking about what to do when they hit both their curses on themselves
It's nice to have some new changes to test, and it's an interesting video, but it still doesn't make these two skills usable, at least until the blocking system is fixed. Spell reflection relies on the Parsis Shield, unless the opponent is very stupid to use the spell. Aim at your shield instead of your feet; slow movement speed, AOE spells, and penetration model problems put you at a disadvantage both in short and long range, not to mention that shield slam only gives you the damage of a falshion hit. For this reason It would be foolish to give up on the sprint or second wind.
Second wind specifically just helps you in a trade- if you're using a shield, you need trading tools less. I find I win fights against second wind fighters, and I still have toolkit for dealing with casters and such. Versatility is king.
I run with a lantern shield and Spell Reflection all the time. Sticking a Wizard with his own Explosion twice in a row is addicting. Nailed a Sorcerer with his own Elemental Bolt, too.
Great video! Your videos almost make me wanna pick up fighter.. Also the will stacking is also great for spell reflecting, cause as far as i know (correct me if im wrong), the reflected spell uses your will to deal damage!
It was my impression that the spell was a copy of the original, to the point that, if you reflect a hellfire, and the warlock casts another, the reflected hellfire disappears.
Great video, just a quick tips 1. Shield Slam headshot hits like a truck, with pavise is super easy to get one, just jump, always try to jump when doing the pavise slam so you get an almost secure headshot 2. If you do the shield slam after blocking an attack with shield mastery, you will deal almost instant slam, so it also work pretty well as a parry tool 3. The round shield is a great shield to use shield slam, since its like pavise, a full frontal bash with easy headshot Extra: great combo with the lantern parry+attack+parry2nd attack, gotta try that out
It used to be that the lanternshield second riposte would self-stun quite a bit, nowadays they've cleaned that up. I still advocate for using the mainhand during the combo, but when they first introduced it, it was just part of avoiding the self-stun on the second riposte. Now you can double riposte and switch to mainhand, and that gets the attacks out seemingly faster and more flexibly than interposing the mainhand, but it's still nice if you're using the stored mobility as an advantage for footwork purposes, or trying to throw your opponent off by not immediately doing a second thrust.
@@Lyrebird-lp2vt Forgot to mention, and I dont now if you probably already know but, shield slam interrupts the stagger animations, so, even if you got hit my a warmaul on the shield and got that stagger animation, you can press the shield bash to cancel the animation with a shield bash that + shield mastery will be an almost instant attack, making it basically a very powerfull parry tech using shields, this is why even round shield is good with slam, cuz even when its weak and gets easy stagger, you can simply press the slam when someone hits your shield to get a slam without having to worry about the stagger
@@Lyrebird-lp2vt It's such a good spell, but it's mainly something wizards use in trios since it allows them to do damage no matter how many obstacles (team mates) are in the way in tight spaces.
this video is really good, i've been watching your stuff for a while, and as a fighter main i recognize your builds as respectable, however my love for lonsword keeps me away from copying your playstyle, but with this one you convinced me of running at least spell reflection pavise, that last clip was too good, reflecting fireballs and hitscans like nobodys business, still it makes me think about lighting strike, the one and only spell that i cant block or dodge normally, i imagine that the pavise wont help me with that :D. Your content in general is very high quality, however i strongly recommend that your maximize the brightness of your game, makes it easier to see whats going on. I forgot to mention, i hope this build/strat doesnt get popular, bc if it does ironmace would have to nerf it to further pamper their beloved ranged characters, especially the warlock
I haven't seen lightning strike specifically in AGES, but so many sorcerers run spells that mimic the problem from a reflecter's point of view. I think the solution to those guys is to run breakthrough, to negate all the slows and pushbacks they rely upon. And yeah, Lantern Shield is in a strong place right now - at the very least, armor pen % from the mainhand shouldn't be contributing to the shield's ripostes, but the game do be janky like that. Everyone tells me to turn brightness up... but it feels like cheating. Maybe I'll do it, for the viewers' sake. xD
@@Lyrebird-lp2vt im currently running spell reflection in arena, it doesnt stop spells like lightning strike or holy strike, but let me tell you, that feeling when warlocks just give up on attacking you is something else, even better, last night i killed a wizard with a double icebolt headshot, shit was supreme. Honestly the brightness stuff is just a minor inconvenience really, i respect that you're sticking to your morals, keep up the good work, your content is really enjoyable.
I totally get your frustration, but you seem to be forgetting a few important details. Firstly, a warlock can curse around pavise, and every other shield for that matter. Secondly, the most affective way to get around curses is to literally get around them, as in dodging, not blocking. Thirdly, when a knowledgeable warlock sees your pavise, they will either run away because they can and your too slow to do anything about it, or simply pull out a melee weapon and poke through your pavise because that's something you can do in this game. Fourthly, because of power of sacrifice, warlocks are a melee class, so they wouldn't be disadvantaged poking you. This is not to say that spell reflection is bad by any means. It's great, multipurposed, and can turn the tides of a fight. It can be the soul reason that you and your team win. However what I am saying is that spell reflection isn't the ultimate anti-warlock skill you think it is.
That's not my experience. I've only ever seen warlocks dare to curse my blue shield when there's a vertical difference, exposing either my toes or my head. They'll try over and over on a normal pavise, until they get an elbow or a toe, but not the blue one. I've killed lots of warlocks by cursing them with their own curses. I don't think I've actually died to one since running this build, except for one encounter with a crystal sword warlock who third partied. I don't know what you're talking about when you say "curse around" the pavise, unless you fail to aim it directly at them, they can't reach around it at all. Also, shield slam makes it so that I can fight the melee by slamming then switching to my main hand weapons. And yeah, basically every class in the game can outrun this loadout, that's half the point of the loadout; people only die when they make repeated mistakes, or when they *choose* to engage with me.
@@Lyrebird-lp2vt What I mean by "curse around" is that you can curse the feet, or head of a player holding a pavise. While crouching the pavise will cover the feet, but doing so makes the head a easy target. A warlock who jumps as they curse can curse the head by going over the pavise. Looking up with the pavise can prevent this, but doing so makes the feet an easy target. It's a reactive guessing game. It's pretty fun. There is also the matter of desync. You can't always perfect block curses, because internet desync might slow you down just long enough to let the curse through. It's happened to me way to many times to count.
@Lyrebird-lp2vt people going to nitpick at the end of the day I have 40 percent buff and when arena comes out imma try this perk because the only thing that stops the w key is wizards especially when two of them get on the enemy team
From what i can see your only playing normals, I'd like to see you try this against an experienced and geared warlock in 225+ gs HR, as imo thats where hes most oppressive.
I haven't tried modifying the trajectory again, because the projectile is all the way at the front of the trail of hellfire, but I imagine it *could* be done, yes. Problem is, it disappears once the warlock casts hellfire a second time.
I talk about it in my previous video, about the lantern shield. It used to be more important, but they fixed the animation on the second riposte. I do it in PvP to conserve momentum. (you move very fast while riposting with the lantern shield, check out the vid!)

genuinely great video man, but crank the brightness up on the next one if possible. i know its Dark and Darker, i just wasn't ready for Darkerer

great video, we gotta stop them warlocks

asking the real questions
Sadly spell reflect only works against people who don’t use their hands when gaming
