The Uni is ONE of the best knots.... however Every GOOD Angler has an arsenal of quality knots, and know the best situation to use them. I will agree the Uni is the best BEGINNER knot for its simplicity

I usually use the reverse clinch but I'll have to try this one. Scouts I honor my dude.

the rule of thumb is look at a rig from reel knot backing line top shot leader and use the same system throughout because the way people design systems of knots for use for different species line weigjts etc.. is designed to be lasting for the species your targeting. I watch alot of videos about best knot for everything. But I do several types of fishing and there is different stuff for each type. Saltwater knots are in larger lines and more robust knots. Attaching braid to leaders or running lines or serving into hollowcore or connections in spay lines etc.. on and on forever are all different knots and methods of connections. But great knot and tutorial.

this is the uniknot. I saw it right away. this one and the one I saw before this going threw the eye twice are excellent knots that will satisfy all the knot tying you really need. however you can add the T know to make your own rigs that Senko Skipper's father has shown on their channel. I would add that to these two and would be fine with all the knots I need to be honest.
This is a very useful knot for sure, but whenever it is possible and I need a very strong connection, then I prefer to use the palomar-knot.
palomar knot is great with mono. I like the uni knot for braid because it's easier to cut free from lures

Not necessary with modern monofilament. Its actually stronger and more consistent when tightened dry.
Mono used to burn itself if tightened too quickly when dry but now mono has coatings to prevent that

The Uni (universal) Knot is an excellent all-around knot.
the Palomar knot is all you need, everything else is too complicated
@@maxsjoberg788 The Palomar is a great knot for tying on a lure or swivel. I teach it to beginners because it's easy. The uni knot does that and connects lines, makes snells, pretty much everything you would need to do for fishing. Also works well in fly fishing applications. It is a "universal" knot.
@@maxsjoberg788 for lures or swivels (saltwater like surface irons, poppers etc) I always use the improved uni knot. It has a 100%+ break strength. The line always snaps before the knot and it’s away from it

IMHO, uniknot described here is very good for joining braided line with a metal ring (swivel, lure), but clintch knots are better for joining mono and fluorocarbon lines with metal rings. Because of the surface abrasions are little different.

i agree with the title, the uni is very popular. i use it for snells on hooks just because it is the easiest way, but for most stuff i just use palomar knots. they are fast and have more than one line around the shank/eyelet.

Palomar creates a dog leg between hook and line,no direct drive. Likewise lures.

Every fisherman starts off with uni knots on everything. Every great fisherman has knots for specific occasions. I’d dare to say there’s no such thing as a good fisherman who can’t tie a loop knot blindfolded. Point is…this title is really off point, but it’s a great demonstration of the uni/double uni
Yeh this is the uni knot, I ONLY use the improved clinch. For mono over 15 kilos the clinch. To join light braid to fluorocarbon of 20lb or less the albright knot. And for heavy braid (80 lb) to leader the PR knot. Then for game fishing, plaits, and doubles, so yeh.....

This is a UNI knot and title is misleading. I wouldn’t use it for every knot, just when i need a snug knot.
For fishing hard baits and jigs i use a non-slip loop knot
For tying mono to braid i use the FG knot most of the time. Its the strongest and thinnest.

Когда вот так протягиваешь узел по леске для затяжки, особенно флюр, пусть даже и смоченный, то после этого леска становится как поросячий хвост - сплошная спираль.

You should make a regulat knot at the end about you find making these rather than cutting the line so short I usually make a knot at the end as extra reassurance.
If you need extra reassurance why not find a more reliable and easy to tie knot? Palomar maybe?

Can someone tell me why this video has got over a 100 dislikes? It doesn't make sense.
I can think of a few reasons:
1) "every good fisherman uses this knot" well that's a dislike for being a condescending so-and-so.
2) it's not the best knot. I fish every weekend and am often catching over ten pound catfish, bowfin, and gar. The only knot I've had break in recent memory is a double uni braid to fluorocarbon. I switched to a triple surgeons knot and haven't lost a knot yet.
3) I can tie a palamar in less than 10 seconds and never lost the knot.
So the sheer audacity to label what a good fisherman is by using an inferior knot gets dislikes.
