I believe that it is a complete collaboration with Simone writing the lyrics and Arjen the music. The new release R.E.D. is very different and features Mark from Epica on vocals as well as the rest of Epica doing backing vocals. Epica are like one big family, that’s one thing I love about them.
Because Arjen is Dutch, the J is pronounced as if it was a Y, in the same way that both Floor and Mark's surname is pronounced Yansen. Apparatus the similarity between the names Ayreon and Arjen is a coincidence. On the first Ayreon album, the main character was originally planned to be called Aries, but it needed an extra syllable to fit the music.
On top of the excelent vocals and music, great schism on suggestive and innocent in the visuals. Nothing wrong to actually see while the mind wanders on the could have beens.

This total album is a colab with Arjan Lucassen ( Ayreon) and tbh.. it's his best material in a while, i love it! Not that his other stuff is no good , it's always awesome.. but i think he's at his best when he does the heavier stuff. And offcoarse.. Simone, not downplaying her role in this.. it's obvious, and awesome! I hope they do more stuff together.. match made in heaven!
