- Thanks Solinco for the opportunity to hit with Rajeev Ram! Rajeev has been a highly ranked doubles player on the ATP tour for a while now, achieving a career high of #1 in the world. Rajeev has won the US Open 3 times (2021, 2022, 2023) and the Australian Open once (2020). He's been in the Top 10 doubles rankings for a while now. His partner for Indian Wells 2024 is Joe Salisbury, wish them luck! Today we warmed up and hit some groundstrokes and volleys.

Oh shit it's Rampras! For those who don't know, Rajeev grew up without a coach so he modelled his strokes after Sampras. You can see it if you look up his serve especially, but in this vid you can see it in the way he takes his elbow back when hitting a forehand (not quite as extreme as Pete did tho)
That’s crazy that he grew up without a coach but has won double grand slams
Did he eventually get a coach? Or didn’t have a coach the entire junior career?
The front foot and tongue on the serve = Pete vibes
I knew his serve looked like Sampras’. Now I ground stroke similarities. Thanks Winston!
Isn't Peter Sampras that old timey guy with a wooden racket playing against the "Battle of the Sexes" bald chick Andre J. King before that thingy called TV or something?😊
Crazy how he exerts very little movement or energy and yet has so much consistency and pace.
Way to go Rajeev. Loving the classic-like strokes and volleys.
Winston, man, these are some amazing times with your videos. Well done!
Thanks for sharing and best of luck to Rajeev.
Cheers!
M
Really old school strokes, especially the forehand grip
Wow rajeev is so lucky to get to hit with winston!
Love Rajeev’s game! I also modeled my serve after Sampras and over the years have used video of Ram’s serve and game to help work on my own.
his strokes are so smooth and easy.
Great stuff. Thanks for posting it. You've really improved in the past 2 years!
I realize this was a Solinco sponsorship setup and so time was short... It would have been great to see Rajeev's serve up close. It is just so smooth and by far his best shot.
Winston you have really arrived; these pros all want to hit with you.
Especially with less than 100k subscribers. He’s doing something right.
This is a great video, been loving the content recently
Almost 10 million in prize money...
you forgot to mention he was 56 in the world in singles...
2 ATP singles titles!
one of them as a lucky loser... 😊
Congrats Winston!! You are living the dream
Wow, an awesome opportunity for you Winston! You hit great too.
Dang Winston! You’re hitting really well!
channel just hitting exponential growth now. congrats Winston
Really played well Winston
Rajeev is a player I love to watch. Such a cool opportunity to hit w him - and keep up the great work on your channel!
wait, where's the "what's your equipment" segment? haha
Wowwwww...you got a great 👍 👌 👏....believe he's got 6 odd grand slams trophies.....excellent. ....Best Wishes
You’re big time now Winston! You got Rajeev on the channel.
fabtabulous hitting, Winston. Would've been fun to see you try and return one of his serves... they have crazy action on them. Well done!
Rajeev is a great guy from my home town.
Always love watching Rampras hit
Sweet hitting WD! 🤟
I feel bad I didn’t know he has a one handed. Your channel is giving you a great lif e!
beautiful one handed backhand❤
I want to see Winston hit with the Bryan Bros!
was going to do that this year in the desert too but schedules didn't work out
These guys make it look so easy. Im jealous...
Nice hit! But I was hoping to see that Pete Sampras serve.
'Tha Ram' whaa! Man you in the Twilight zone! He was definitely relaxed and trying not to expend any extra energy. You should play that girl while you are out there. I forgot her name. I believe she's of Asian decent an is a bodybuilder. Anyway that was a major coup to get a grand slam champion to hit with you. You are definitely on the rise..👍👍
Winston, if you continue to get high-ranking pros, it'd be cool if you did short interviews, e.g., you could ask what they think their best shot/technique/quality is, and then ask them to explain how they think it became their best and what we non-pros can do to try to improve that particular shot/technique/quality.
thanks for the suggestions!
Rajeev has also won 2 times at Newport in singles in addition to his doubles success
So smooth and controlled at all times, ever stroke had the same movement speed
Agreed. I'll never make tennis look that easy 😂
Your swings are pretty good, but you have some instability in the racquet head that causes the ball to not really go where you want it to. Notice Rajiv’s relaxed swing with little effort? The racquet does all the work.
How what? Amazing
Surprised you didnt talk about his string setup! He is using tourbite diamond rough right?
I saw his giant Billboard the other day. Hahaha. 😂😂❤
Djokovic next? 😅
Winston’s going to be Novak’s hitting partner soon
No, Novak is going to be Winston’s hitting partner
Love his game , watch him since he beat rublev . When rublev just turn pro
The man is the legend
He should give you a volley lesson!
Here he is, the RAM 🐏🐏🐏🐏🐏
I love Rammmmmmmm!!😊
Djokovic next? It will make me happy!
working on it
duuuuuude
2 Illinois guys!👍
technically Rajeev is from Carmel, IN but went to U of I
@@WinstonDu close enough 😉
NICE
Go Illini!
holy shit this is cool
I wonder if Ram plsys with a heavy racket? It looks like he barely swings it and the ball still flies.
Rajeev!
ya... he hits and plays like a doubles player would
Hi first comment wanna play with u so bad
continental forehand right?
looks like a standard eastern, you can see the knuckle of his index finger squarely on bevel 3
Looks more eastern to me.
looks like eastern
did he brought sushi?
HOW THE HELL ARE YOU GETTING ALL THESE PLAYERS ALL OF A SUDDEN!
what is that colored circle on your strings
Solinco stencil
I think for this type of content it would be nice to do a baseline game to 11 without serve.
true thanks for the feedback
it would over in 11 seconds
I wonder why Winston didn't hit any volleys....
Rajeev my computer needs more "ram"
Is that from your *cache* of jokes?
@@BassByTheBay lol
My friend Marshall Brown told me it when all 3 of us were playing a tourney in 2005
Lol
dude is so likeable
me or rajeev?
Doesnt look like he is trying 😂
he was taking it easy lol
wtf wow
His racquet must weigh 100 pounds he’s barely swinging.
What a clickbait 😂😂
these r boringggg play matches at rancho las palmas i know these courts
Misleading. You should specify #1 doubles in the world. He was never #1 in singles.
I'm sure Winston will refund your money... C'mon man
how is that misleading?, it might be if youre dumb. Do you not follow tennis at all?, you cant even name the number 1 ranked player in singles.
I'm sorry but #1 in doubles means less than #2000 in singles
what do you mean by that
He means the #2000 singles player in the world can beat the #1 ranked doubles player. That’s a bit extreme but I can believe maybe like a #300 singles beating #1 doubles.
@@WinstonDu Just that in my opnion it's a bigger achievement getting a single ATP point in singles than being #1 in doubles. And I'm not saying that he couldn't maybe get some points in singles, but with his age and physical shape I really doubt he could endure most matches, or stand to go 2 or 3 rounds deep into a tournament without completely destroying his body
@@rafaelquintanaVODs What rank are you in your particular field?
Rajeev achieved a career high singles ranking of #56 in 2016 so he can play both@@rafaelquintanaVODs
