I read ‘I Who Have Never Known Men’ a couple days back and I gave it a 5 ⭐️ too. I think the book is very metaphorical, there are layers to it that I can’t put into words, and I think their entire journey, and the vast plains is like the journey of life itself. We don’t know why we are here, who put us here, just like the protaganist we are born with no knowledge or life skills, only learnt through what others taught us, we don’t know when death might befall us or what is beyond this vast life, but we keep going, we keep searching, we don’t know what the next leg of the journey holds, who we will meet or lose, and only the strong spirited continue on, while some just give up their quest for answers, and eventually, at some point, all of us just make peace and just accept life as it is. It was such a great a book 🔥
Sara!! You have no idea how happy it makes me to hear that you liked I who have never known men. That's my favorite book of all time. I was so worried going into this video because this book means the world to me so needless to say I'm so happy that you enjoyed it. Also! I don't know if you know this but Jacqueline Harpman and her family were Holocaust survivors. They fled Europe and lived in Morocco for years and then moved back to Europe. Learning that put a whole new perspective on the book for me and it's a book that I still think about and talk about all the time.
Okay girl, 2 things. Basing your ratings of books on what other people think of them isn't how it should work. Even if it's wildly popular and you don't like it, you should feel like rating it accurately for you! AND I personally hate 95% of lit fic but I read one last year by mistake and it was a 5 star read that I think was phenomenal! Nothing To See Here by Kevin Wilson. SOOOOOO good and the audio is perfection and it's heartwarming and funny. Definitely recommend.
I use 2 star ratings exactly how you described - I didn't enjoy it but I could see how others might, so I say keep going with your 2 stars!!! Save your 3 stars for books you actually liked (or were at least neutral on).
gurl im so happy you read I who have never known men cuz i read it last year and loved it so much that i wanted more people to read it as well!! i first found out about the book from BookswithEmilyFox and Kayla from Booksandlala read it at the beginning of the year and loved it too!
Just started the video but paused to comment because I always have to prepare myself when a Booktuber have this all time favorite book on the cover of the video. I get so nervous to see if others like it. ETA: You loved I who have never known men! I reread it once a year and there's always something new to notice or take out of the experience.
It's such a haunting book! I think I might buy a physical copy. What are you theories!? Please share - I was on reddit reading what people thought immediately after I finished
I’ve been binging your channel since I found you a month ago, and I was wondering if you had read Writers & Lovers. We both read this in May and gave it 4 stars! Good taste lol
I really don't read lit fic either, but I really enjoyed In Five Years by Rebecca Serle and The Wonder by Emma Donoghue. They are very different stories, but the writing is very real and has stayed with me. If you're looking for any Sci Fi, I just finished On Earth As It Is On Television and I really enjoyed it. It was kind of odd for the genre, because it focused on regular people and the aftermath of "the event" and not so much the scientists or government reaction. It's not a thriller, by any means, but I was invested.
🧺🍎 I’m so glad you enjoyed ‘I Who Have Never Known Men’! It’s been on my TBR for a while, so now I’m even more excited to read it!! btw your videos make my day ❤ hope you have a great weekend!
So a lit fic one that you *might* like would be “where the forest meets the stars” by Glendy vanderah - it’s definitely got a mystery to it. I will say it’s been 4 years since I’ve read it so I’m pretty far removed from it, but i still say it’s one of my favorites. 🧺🍎
the claw machine's music is what i think the portal to hell sounds like lmao
I had this claw machine as a child and it still haunts me from how annoying it got the more I used it (I feel so bad for my parents)
Omg what a concept 😂💞
Sometimes you just have to buy a $35 children's claw machine and put it to work
@@sarawithoutanH I'm pleasantly surprised by that price!!

I'm trying to be in my nice era because i usually want to rate everything 2 stars 😂
omg the claw machine picking your tbr is so fun and unique haha!
I'm impressed you're ever able to get the claw machine to pick up anything with that calliope music frantically counting down. 😅 Such a fun video! 🧺🍎
You know I only failed once so that's good 😂
