I remember how Mary Poplin used to say in some Boris tutorials that Ben actually loved doing roto...and I thought it was just a bit of hyperbole on her part. Lol. Now I know that it wasn't! 😂 Great session! I've been considering getting Silhouette for a while now...and this is really making it easier for me to take the plunge.
Ben here. I've just come back off holiday to read this. It's definitely not hyperbole :D Mary was just the only person who understood how deep that love went!
Thanks for stopping by again. Once you get into the Silhouette flow, it's easy to see why people like spending their days in it. I hate having to roto anywhere else.
WOW THAT'S REALLY SO AWESOME TRACK BASED HAIR ROTO DETAILS AND CORE PART COVER TOPIC THANKS DEAR AND LOVABLE MENTOR FOR THESE LOVING SESSIONS THAT'S REQUESTED BY ME AS HAIR ROTOSCOPE
Thank you very much Master Ben & BorisFX! Glad you didn't stop the Office Hours. My fav BorisFX Learn. It is posibile to provide the footage or links with similar royalty free footage for practice?
You're very welcome! We'll probably be able to post the footage at a later date. If you want to get some practice on hair, then this shot is a proper challenge : www.pexels.com/video/a-beautiful-girl-driving-car-through-the-city-6117577/ There are some good large sections, a few clumps at the top, and a lot of loose strands. 50 frames will be plenty on that shot! This shot is better to start with though : www.pexels.com/video/backside-of-a-woman-watching-the-waterfalls-3783730/ Work on the main tracking to minimize the amount of actual movement you need to chase. This is a fun one.
@@borisfxlearn I did attend this. The problem is when I went for a test . They do not allow me to use shutter properties. And are not allowed to switch shapes as well. So this video is just conceptual. I would like to practically see something complete in detail. Thanks
Hey Ben! Hope you are well, I have a 5 sec shot ( Wonder women) . I have been trying to roto that shot for the last one month. I did everything even more than my capacity but still facing problems (flickering). Can you please resolve that issue in your next class? I shall be very thankful to you.
Hey Umer. Drop me a line at [edited] and I'll take a look and maybe we can look at it or something similar in the next Silhouette Office Hours. As you're a human, you should be able to work out the email address :D
If you message him over on the forums or send a mail to info @ borisfx.com (remove spaces to make it an email address) to forward over. Silhouette forums are here : forum.borisfx.com/
Do we have to manually adjust every single tiny strand individually through the entire clip? Or is there some magic way to do multiple at a time and get away with it? I feel like doing detail strands alone is going to take days/weeks just with small strands on one clip =(
You're in luck. We just launched a new rotoscoping course that has a big section devoted to hair roto. You can find it (for free) here : vfx.borisfx.com/silhouette-essentials-rotoscoping

This was a great session Ben. Thanks very much! I am still feeling pretty clumsy in Silhouette so seeing all these tips and hotkeys is VERY helpful!

Taking huge time.. Who need it?

Omg, that brush is a game changer! So used to mocha pro and people not using that. So tedious.
