    Hitting new water is always worth the adventure. It's value is in getting to know your water that much more intimately. As well, it may not always be fish you find but other cool stuff or experiences that a new place may show you. Not going to lie, wish we had white fish....Great vid Zach!

      Haha yeah a pod of whitefish can really save the day sometimes. I agree about experiencing other things along with the fishing, I truly love exploring new rivers and areas. Thanks for watching Norm!

    Love the video and encouragement to try new water out. It's definitely worthwhile and can be very rewarding. You learn a lot as you figure out how to find new productive water.

    As a fellow creator, I appreciate your thumbnail game haha very beautiful! This river is so much bigger than anything I usually fish, but man you do well. Love the power of tight-line nymphing. Thanks for sharing.

    That was an ambitious winter hike Zach! Super cool. My wife and I enjoy fishing new water. We get non resident licenses for several states, and have a 4x4 off grid RV with a custom logo on the back that says "Fly Life Nomads". Scouting new water and fishing it is part of the adventure for us.

    Yup that’s a good spot down there. The trail is bit more that you would think. First I time I thought my bike would be good. I ditched it. Now I walk. Or float all the way.

    Like your vids…Thanks. Could you (at least once in a vid) show your rig and the flies you’re using; I know you told us about them. I’d like to “see” them. Thanks again.

      Yeah, I always forget that people are interested in the rig :) Noted.

      Was coming here to say that as well. Also maybe saying when you change your fly and the reason for the change would be great.

    Don't know when you shot this but seems pretty weird me sitting here in Texas with a little ice, sleet and snow on the ground watching you fish without any. Enjoyed it as always. Mighty cool to have Norm post on your channel. Cool

    Fun video Zach. I always like getting into some new water. You mentioned you use sat imagery to help you find it. Do you have any websites or suggestions to use when it comes to sat imagery? Thanks

    Nice ! Love your vids when I can’t fish lol. Question what made you chose the Galvan 3.7 over the 3.5?

    • @FlyingTies
      @FlyingTies  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks! I went with the 3.7 because both of my euro rods are 10'6" & 10' 9" The 3.5 would be better for a 10' rod IMO

    Testing your skill and knowledge on new water is always inspirational. Not sure if you have been asked, but do you tie your own leaders or do you use store bought? If you tie them it would be nice to hear about your recipe. Thanks for sharing.

    Thanks for another great vid Zach! Couple questions on the water type/bead weight. What was the avg depth of water you were fishing? Looked like 1-2'? And for bead sizes, were they mostly 2mm ish? During the winter do you change the heavy fly to the tag and place the lighter beaded fly on the point?

    • @FlyingTies
      @FlyingTies  2 роки тому +1

      The water that I was fishing that day was mostly between 1-4' deep. Because it was slower moving I was utilizing 2.5mm bead flies (but this changes based on the depth and speed of the water) As for where I fish the flies on a two fly setup, I mostly fish the point fly on the tag because I like both of my flies to be at the same depth or as close to that as possible. Hope that helps!
