Hi from Vancouver, BC, Canada! I just wanted to drop a quick note to say how much I absolutely love your videos! I was born and left Greece to come to Canada when I was 19 years old. Watching your everyday experiences in Greece brings back so many memories for me. It’s fascinating to see the little things you find different from your Scandinavian roots, and your enthusiasm and positivity really shine through. Your exploration of Greek neighborhoods is so heartwarming and makes me feel quite nostalgic for my birth country. Although it's tough for me to visit Greece often because of my family living so far away, your videos truly make me feel connected to my roots. Please keep up the fantastic work-your efforts and the joy you bring to your filming are truly appreciated. Wishing you both a prosperous and wonderful life in Greece!
Thank you for including some B-Roll footage in your After Hours videos too. Apart from getting to know your thoughts, it is good to see a bit of your neighbourhood. And special thanks for having our super-special guest star, Efi. Yeeeaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!! Please make a video of her life as well. Efi's life at Athens Wives. Hahaha. Nooo. :) After I have moved to Athens, Greece, I will have a cat for good. :) It's so interesting that you two speak your own (two different) native languages, yet you can perfectly communicate with each other. I mean, I suppose the two languages are very similar, but still, officially, they are unique. That is so nice.
Thank you so much🥰 We will continue with the B-rolls😃 Of course we can do a video about Efi, she's had a crazy life! Yes, Swedish and Norwegian is kind of similar. We have learned to understand each other😊 When we first met, we had some communication problems😅
In Attica and other southern cities of Greece snow is rare and occurs only about in one time per ten years maybe even more. For that reason infrastructure isn’t designed specifically to accommodate snow. I mean there are lots of traditional streets with cobblestone rocks or other materials that under snow they can be slippery and dangerous to pedestrians and cars also don’t have a good grip. In northern Greece where snow is almost an everyday reality during winter everything differs and shops schools and businesses don’t close unless the snow is really high and falls rapidly. Just last year after very bad communication the largest street in Attica, Attiki Odos which connects Elefsina all the way to Athens Airport Eleftherios Venizelos and further to northeaster Attica was blocked of a sudden snowfall due to poor preparation of the snow plow machines. Hundrends of people were stuck in it for endless hours.
Smoking is an other big difference. When i was in Uppsala in 2005 nobody smoked inside bars, kafes, knight clubs even student houses. In Greece we have an antismoking low since 2012 and still after 12 o'clock everybody smokes inside.
the snow thing is so true! on the other hand it snows once per 120 years so theres no need of snow tires. It is a very unusual situation here. I can imagine the same if in Sweden or Norway theres a heat wave of 40 degrees
Yes, that's true😊 It's not very often snow in Athens☺️ You are right, if Sweden and Norway had 40 degrees it would absolutely be a problem, because people don't have air condition at home🥵
In north Greece every November we change the tires in snow tires and we change again in March in simple tires. You just have to keep the extra set in your garage or somewhere.
We can imagine it's a little bit different in northern Greece😊❄️☃️❄️☃️❄️ That's how we do it in Sweden and Norway too, we change the tires in november and then change back in like april😁🚙

What about Athens in the winter ? Is it calmer than usual and empty.. or it's still alive?
Athens is always alive 365 days. Perfect city to live. The only problem is th distances. Is to big
Pretty much alive. It's not that cold here. Most of the time you will get between one to three weeks of temperatures around 10ºC.
Athens is alive all year around😃 It's not like the islands where it gets very empty in the winter😊 Very nice question, we will keep it also for a video🥰 Thank you so much❤️🇬🇷
Athens is empty in August
