- An exchange between Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam and Workers’ Party chief Pritam Singh in Parliament on Tuesday (Nov 29) centred on LGBTQ+ candidates standing in General Elections, as the sexual orientation of an opposition candidate from the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) during the 2011 General Election. Referring to former SDP member, Dr Vincent Wijeysingha, Mr Singh said the PAP then had not only told Dr Wijeysingha to “come out of the closet”, but had issued a statement that “pursued an innuendo that made an allusion to paedophilia”.

WHEN is the PAP going back to discuss Ivan Lim. He was a PAP candidtate for Jurong GRC for GE2020. He was criticized by members of the public. His party told him to defend himself. The party did not defend him. Ivan Lim withdrew. Lawrence Wong stated the PAP candidate selection process is "thorough and robust". Lee Hsien Long added "he has confidence" (in the process). If this is the case, why did the PAP not defend Ivan Lim? When is the PAP going back to the public to discuss the Ivan Lim saga? It has been over two years since GE2020. Singaporeans are still waiting for an explanation from the PAP why it chose Ivan Lim and did not defend his selection.

Pritam Singh should just ask Shanmugam in the latter's own style which is "just answer in a simple Yes or No, please" and stick to that. Shanmugam claims he can't make decisions as he is not the PM but he is amongst the first ones to have an opinion about anything and everything...even standing up to protect his party members. The hypocrisy is so overpowering!

The Law Minister dodged a question regarding the aspersion and PAP’s stance on gays standing for elections. Then he claimed that the opposition party member shifted goal posts. That’s how I see this clip.
Well done Workers Party and especially to Mr Pritam Singh! The FACT that Mr Shanmugam does not even DARE to state category that ALL Singaporeans, REGARDLESS of race, language, religion and SEXUAL ORIENTATION has already itself shown what the PAP’s position was on this issue! That not all Singaporeans are seen and treated EQUALLY with what should be their ENTITLED Civil liberties as a citizen of this country! Not to mention the fact that PAP loves to Character Assassinate their political opponents using the state media as a tool for their agenda.

Pritam Singh has more balls then the entire PAP put together. This is like the late Karpal Singh of Msia...who stood by his principles till his death. Without Karpal, the DAP has completely lost its principles.
The identity of Singapore is love and kindness based upon proper knowledges, beyond religions, cultures, nationalities and races. Democracy without proper knowledges will develop a disconcerted and widespread disputes in small dots. Whilst this innovative order is to allow love and kindness having its function towards LGBT, it also deter improper knowledge for LGBT to have complete democracy in Singapore. The PAP can lost its governing power, but cannot lost its proper knowledge of a democratic Singapore

If a candidate actively participates in a forum that allows conversations about underage sex or paedophiliac behaviours, then i would support the questioning of his/her intentions. I think shanmugam was perfectly reasonable in his reply.
The opposite party trying to be the woke party can recruit all your gay candidates for all you like, who is to stop you? But why has this any relevance to how PAP recruits its own candidates?
