The key difference between the SCP foundation and the GOC is the SCP Foundation CONTAINS anomalies. The GOC tries to DESTROY anomalies. And as we see with this SCP, trying to destroy an anomaly can just make the situation WORSE
We also see that containment is not necessarily a long-term or reliable strategy either though. A significant number of anomalies have proven to be either beyond the foundation’s ability to contain reliably or at all. Which lends more credence to the idea that they need a more permanent solution, which may not be destruction in all or most cases but containment alone isn’t going to work forever.
Tbf, knowing the SCP foundation, this could very well be akin to propaganda. Morale for an organization where death by supernatural monsters is probably pretty common is likely often low, so you'll occasionally need something to cheer you up. Something like a higher purpose, like keeping the world save via containing SCPs which cause more harm when attacked, is probably what keeps these people going.
and this is with an SCP that isn't even malicious or that dangrous, relatively speaking. imagine if they fucked up with something that was capable of far worse.
Best example of showing what could possibly happen had an SCP be terminated? absolutely. Best introduction to the GOC? Extremely debateable. More coherent and that expands into the perspective of the GOC would be the hub page for it, or a formal introduction to them via a video, rather than an incident log that many people overused as an example of the GOC being an "all incompetent ruthless chaotic monsters" which is far from the case in almost all articles they've been in.
I went and looked for it and oh god that would break her heart. They were boat whales that were just chilling with other whales and truly in love with each other And they were gonna have babies too, screw the GOC!!! >:(
This SCP touches on a theme that so many articles forget: that the "P" in "SCP Foundation" stands for "Protect". It's not just about protecting people from anomalies; sometimes it's about protecting the anomalies themselves. Not everything we can't understand is evil, and as much as some canons like to pretend otherwise, the Foundation knows that. Also, I give a huge endorsement for Volgun's video on SCP-1678, "UnLondon". It's a personal favorite of mine and the one I got introduced to his channel through.
Honestly, I kinda like the variety of having multiple good and bad stories in the foundation. Makes it feel more human in a way, where more often than not there’s just as likely a situation where one person’s hubris results in catastrophic repercussion and the death of many undeserving people, or because one person had the will to continuously fight back against an anomaly one on one, usually sacrificing themselves in order to protect not only the foundation, but the world itself. And then sometimes there’s just a monster Garfield that tries to attack Bill Murray. It’s fun
I love this one. An SCP that makes you feel empathy for a chair. It just wanted to help people take a breather. no malice, no dimensional horrors, no painful transformations. Just a friendly chair. And the GOC shredded it anyway. Feels like kicking a little puppy that just wanted a head scratch. So this chair always makes me unironically tear up a bit.
It's easy to remember the statue or the hard to destroy reptile, or the other horrifying monsters they contain. But they also have things like this chair, like the 2D woman, like the sentient computer program that is literally the best teacher in existence. For every nightmare inducing horror they have on that site, there is something adorable, pitiable or just plain friendly but odd. My favourite, but I can't remember the number, is a massive clockwork machine. It has four settings. Course, Rough, 1 to 1 and Fine. Run something through it and you get what you asked for. A scientist ran a chess set with all the pieces set up through 1 to 1 and started playing a game with the machine. That's adorable. The machine was winning. That's funny.
According to a different story, the GOC agents were supposed to burn it, but shredded it instead because they were short on time. Whether that would have made it a hostile pile of teleporting ash and smoke is unknown
Close. The chair was part of a set, and the GOC agents used an incinerator to successfully destroy all of them other than SCP 1609. However, at that point, the incinerator malfunctioned, and one of the agents had the bright idea to try a woodchipper instead, rather than wait for the incinerator to get fixed.
@@dustinrausch5008 Yeah, there was also a note at the end from GOC high command that proclaims this fiasco as an example of why their agents *must* obey the SOP handed to them from on high, and not to cut corners when dealing with anomalies. Incinerator broke down before you could destroy the wooden anomaly? Then they should've secured some other way to quickly and efficiently burn said anomaly, even if a far more convenient but far more risky method of destruction (e.g. a woodchipper) is available on hand. It goes to show that the GOC, for all their flaws, aren't entirely stupid as a whole.
In addition to this, the wiki also has a report by the GOC on this thing. Apparently, this chair was part of a set, and the GOC successfully destroyed all of the others with an incinerator. However, when they got to SCP-1609, the incinerator broke, and an agent decided to get impatient/lazy and figured that a woodchipper would work just as well. The GOC also sees this SCP as a lesson. From their perspective, though, it's of the importance of actually getting the job done right. EDIT: Decided to find this info again for anyone who wanted to see it. It's under GOC Supplemental Threat Entities, and they refer to the chair as KTE-0937-Velveteen.
Alecia before: "Burn it!" Alecia after coming to understand the chair's plight: "I am so sorry hun, you're a real one." Don't judge a SCP (book) by it's cover.
If this SCP had been contained by the SCP foundation before they GOC got to it, they would probably have just put it in a facility far enough away from civillisation that it would only have teleported to people inside the facility. It could teleport around the facility freely and just be a happy chair.
This SCP is the perfect example of why, when it comes to the various organizations in the SCP universe, the Foundation is the one you can always look at and say “Hey, at the very least they won’t make the problem worse.” Is the Foundation always the best choice for an SCP? No, not always, as some SCP’s do not react well to being experimented on or researched, etc, but at the end of the day the Foundation is at least never the _Worst_ choice.
this SCP serves as a way to help differentiate the GOC and the SCP foundation, as early on the differences between the two weren't very pronounced. It also serves as a counterpoint to readers who may be asking "why don't they just destroy the SCPs".
A perfect justification for the foundations policy of not killing/destroying scps unless they have to. You do not, indeed CANNOT predict what will occur when a anomaly is destroyed/killed. The GoC took a utterly harmless entity and drove it insane with pain.
Hey Alicia! I’ve really been enjoying your SCP content, and I was wondering if you would react to the SCP: Sedition series by Tats Topvideos? It’s a series on exploring the SCPs in a more in-depth and natural way, think less science report and more live field interviews. It’s really well acted and animated, and has probably one of the best depictions of SCP-035 I’ve ever seen! It is a series though and has other videos concerning other SCPs, from SCP-682 to SCP-079. Even if you just react to one of them it would really be an amazing experience, and I hope you will enjoy it.
... How did they even convince this thing to stay in one place in the first place? It seems like this thing could have and would be teleporting around likely following around a target or switching from target to target. What I'd like to know however is the why. Why stick around? Why move around? I could see why it would move around if it had some promise of repair/preservation. If it wants to be used or otherwise made useful in some way, it seems that it would be just as useful if they turned a small park into a break room that must always be used.
It permanently broken and scared of what else could happen to it it know SCP won't hurt it it probably overheard the GOC say the foundation is dumb for protecting the anomalies or somehow figured that was the best way to survive despite the wood chipper PTSD. It quiet and nice
I feel like the chair stayed with the Foundation because, unlike the GOC, it somehow knew they were in the business of *containing* SCPs instead of annihilating them, so it knew it'd be safe there.
Because it knows its safe there. It came on its own and only moves around when it feels better or its been triggerred. Its not trying to obliterate the goc because it started as a good chair and it still wants to be a good something
Trying to destroy SCPs never works out well. Either you make it mad and it becomes dangerous, or you make it stronger and it's an even bigger problem than before. Sometimes both. As always requesting you react to SCP-882.
Hey Alicia if your getting back into scps id recommend the SCP sedition series. Its a 3d animated series following a guy named watch who interviews some of the more popular scps like 079, 682 and the mask which you reacted to recently. Very underrated series imo. Videos range from 20 to 30 mins and come in one or two parts per scp
I think you have covered enough SCPs to get into larger stories that involve multiple, like SCP 001 Black Moon or SCP 5000. Both contest winners, very well written stories and personal favorites
A few of my recommendations SCP 4051 is a really interesting story, it's one of my favorites. I think you would like it because it puts an interesting twist on the Keter class of anomaly. Scp 6001. Have you ever wondered what would happen if the Foundation had a different goal when dealing with anomalies? Right now they try to Secure Contain and Protect the world from anomalies. But what if they instead tried to integrate them into society? SCP 4999 is a little tragic but I still like it. The Three Moons Initiative is not an SCP but a group of interest in the SCP universe. SCP 5999 This is Where I Died, very creepy but a really good read/listen.

This one and the one about a Nerf gun are one of my favourite articles, that display the problems that plague GOC and the Foundation. GOC tried to destroy this benign chair, and created a horrible object. In the article about the Nerf gun, we're shown how the principles of the Foundation cloud their judgement and make them biased. SCP-3108 The Nerfing gun - unfortunately, Volgun hasn't covered this one (yet?), but I saw a video by SCP Explained. I recommend checking this article (the article itself or a channel of your preference), because it gels perfectly with this one. It's all about the flaws of the Foundation.
SCP 1609 is one of my top two favorites. She was just a good chair and the GOC RUINED her. Foundation does some messed up stuff sometimes, but ALWAYS Secure, Contain, and Protect
I recommend also watching SCP videos from this channel's "The exploring series" if you also wanna learn some SCP world building like other groups of interest and really awesome SCP tales and "SCP ILLUSTRATED" for some someone who wants more visual
This SCP makes me so sad. I don't blame it at all, and just want to give it a hug. And yet, I understand the GoC. We KNOW how horrifying some SCPs are. They've let themselves be rules by fear of the unknown, and what they don't understand, they kill.
Since you're getting into SCP content, might I suggest The Mender by Volt Jolt? It's a little pixel animation here on UA-cam and I really like it, as it has a genuinely happy ending, a rarity in the SCP universe.
I think you have covered enough SCPs to get into larger stories that involve multiple, like SCP 001 Black Moon or SCP 5000. Both contest winners, very well written stories and personal favorites. (Edit, maybe not 5000. There's alot you may need to look up while you read)
@Shythalia shes heard of anti memes because of bodie in the water one. And she gets theres other groups, this one specifically talks about goc. But yea that one takes alot of background knowledge to appreciate FULLY. Black moon should be fine
That's like saying she's ready to read the No Return canon because she read like 5 articles by DJKaktus, there's a lot of weird and confusion terminology and terms that even dedicated fans would get confused.
I mean, the Foundation may be all “fuck those guys” about the GOC in this instance, but they don’t lift a finger to stop the GOC from snuffing out any reality-bender they find. Almost seems like they’re happy to let the GOC do the dirty work of destroying anomalies that are difficult to contain, but fairly simple to neutralize.
I mean, letting them have their little victories with the unimpactful ones is kind of less harmful than starting an occult war with a rival organisation backed by every world government.
@@ethanquirk28 True, true. Maybe I’m just reluctant to cut the Foundation any slack. IMO they’re only marginally better than the book burners… I mean, GOC! GOC! That’s, uh, that’s what I meant…
If you're looking for SCP channels, may I suggest Dr. Bob? Each video starts with a hypertheorical/reenactment encounter of the SCP from a civilian's POV.
Next do SCP-●●●●, a ######## that can't be ######### with ##### and can only be 🖌🖼; Vulgan needs a special work-around just to #### ##### ## in his video. It's a short one but an excellent play on cognitohazards as a concept. Also I like SCP-230 "The Gayest Man Alive"; just because of how deadly it is to be around him when all he does is be _too_ likable.
The GOC did have a reason to destroy the chair. While it didn't pose a physical threat, it did threaten to expose civilians to the supernatural. You said it yourself: If the chair can just teleport away whenever it feels like it, can you really consider it contained? I'm guessing it was more comfortable wandering around before it was traumatized. There is also the matter of how scary the chair looks. If you were tired and suddenly that chair teleported behind you, you might be a bit distressed. The GOC figured that they could solve the problem permanently in an afternoon with a woodchipper. Obviously, they didn't anticipate that it would survive the attempt to destroy it. Nor did they realize that it was sentient and capable of hostility. The GOC prefers to destroy the supernatural rather than study or contain it. This is what happens when their policy goes wrong. On the other hand, the Foundation will risk the lives of D-class, researchers, and security to try to contain and research anomalies that could escape containment and threaten innocents. They may very well be able to destroy many dangerous SCPs, but they are philosophically opposed to doing so unless absolutely necessary. This SCP highlights the different philosophies and the dangers of reckless destruction.
0:42 "What the fuck is that chair?!" You'd probably react poorly to the sudden appearance of the helpful chair. I wonder if other civilians might lash out at the haunted demon chair. The chair would probably just teleport away prior to its traumatic destruction, but I could easily see it going poorly. Gentle containment was a better strategy in hindsight.
Making a situation worse by applying their own methods against a (mostly) innocent SCP for the “good of humanity”. The foundation is guilty of this too…
@Alicia now that you know about the GOC its time you learn about thd Chaos Insurgency, Church of the Broken God, Are We Cool Yet, and other groups of interest.
You should watch the exploring series and all there videos about the GOI’s it could help you understand the scp universe By the way GOI mins “groups of interest”
I think what really exemplifies the flaw of the GOC is SCP 1730 where an alternate GOC that had fused with the Foundation had accidentally created a fucking leech god in their attempts to genocide anomalies.
Some really good animated scp creators are( scp explained -story and animation)(the rubber)(dr bob) they really explain the scp wirh fun animation. also there is scp confinement series a short series based on a d-classes life in scp just called (Scp Confinement) another seies is by channel (professor lucius) also made a completed story based on scp foundation that is so fantastic and a seperate series but similar to scp is the backrooms and the channel (backrooms explained) is also great i hope you give any of the a try ps. my fave out of them is the series by prof lucius
GOC defence would you like a arg style analog horror trope to be running around the world killing people then contain that monster and have the potential to escape and do it again like let say shy guy or peanut or even that bell
I just found out that Alicia had 0 knowledge about all the Group of Interest because none of the video she watched is introducing other groups of people that is also dealing with SCP. The only group she knew is SCP Foundation. Why??? Almost all the Group of Interest are fun to learn, such as GOC,Manna Charitable foundation, Church of the Broken God,Prometheus Lab,MC&D Ltd, Serpent's Hand and Dr.Wondertainment.

SCP 1609 is one of my top two favorites. She was just a good chair and the GOC RUINED her. Foundation does some messed up stuff sometimes, but ALWAYS Secure, Contain, and Protect
I recommend also watching SCP videos from this channel's
"The exploring series" if you also wanna learn some SCP world building like other groups of interest and really awesome SCP tales and "SCP ILLUSTRATED" for some someone who wants more visual
Damn, this chair has had some bad luck!
Was not expecting to have to say this.
How about SCP-579?
She still doesn't know about like bigger concepts (like antimemetics & pataphysics) & other groups of interests yet though
@Shythalia shes heard of anti memes because of bodie in the water one. And she gets theres other groups, this one specifically talks about goc. But yea that one takes alot of background knowledge to appreciate FULLY. Black moon should be fine
Alrighty
That's like saying she's ready to read the No Return canon because she read like 5 articles by DJKaktus, there's a lot of weird and confusion terminology and terms that even dedicated fans would get confused.
Suggestion: scp-3199 humans, refuted
GOC! That’s, uh, that’s what I meant…
the foundation should gift wrap SCP-682 and deliver it to the GOC with a card saying, "good luck destroying this one XOXO SCP Foundation!"
In fairness, the Foundation does the same on Mount Olympus more or less daily.
@@theLOSTranger234oh no please don't, they might actually try..........
If you're looking for SCP channels, may I suggest Dr. Bob? Each video starts with a hypertheorical/reenactment encounter of the SCP from a civilian's POV.
SCP-3935
The way below winds deeper, longer,
unspeakable its patterns laid.
The lost forever damned to wander
this thing a quiet madness made.
such a great one also any dr nosleep be perfect especially the boiled one
Next do SCP-●●●●, a ######## that can't be ######### with ##### and can only be 🖌🖼; Vulgan needs a special work-around just to #### ##### ## in his video. It's a short one but an excellent play on cognitohazards as a concept.
Also I like SCP-230 "The Gayest Man Alive"; just because of how deadly it is to be around him when all he does is be _too_ likable.
Man, I'd love a long form video on scps.
0:42 "What the fuck is that chair?!"
You'd probably react poorly to the sudden appearance of the helpful chair.
I wonder if other civilians might lash out at the haunted demon chair. The chair would probably just teleport away prior to its traumatic destruction, but I could easily see it going poorly. Gentle containment was a better strategy in hindsight.
1:19 "Or we could burn it."
Not like chairs have organs.
@@spongeintheshoe Most things become less animated after being put through a woodchipper.
@@Nerdnumberone And most things don’t teleport.
Making a situation worse by applying their own methods against a (mostly) innocent SCP for the “good of humanity”. The foundation is guilty of this too…
I love it when my mulch is traumatized by the G.O.C.
@Alicia now that you know about the GOC its time you learn about thd Chaos Insurgency, Church of the Broken God, Are We Cool Yet, and other groups of interest.
SCP Video Recommendation, SCP-662 : Butler's Hand Bell 🔔 : Safe : Teleportation SCP by TheVolgun
You should react to "SCP-939 - With Many Voices" by MR.ILLUSTRATED
she should react to SCP 1522
SCP 1337 has a very similar theme.
Hey you want to hear some bad vibes?
Imagine the GOC got it's hands on the tickle monster
You should watch the exploring series and all there videos about the GOI’s it could help you understand the scp universe
By the way GOI mins “groups of interest”
You should check out SCP - 5031, Yet Another Murder Monster. Despite the name, it's surprisingly wholesome!
if the foundation found it first they would’ve just did some non threatening tests and then let it do what it does best in the site it’s sent to
Damn you goc they don't always think of the consequences
I highly suggest SCP-2399 The Malfunctioning Destroyer
it just wants you to sit down, its the Red Dwarf toaster but chair form
SCP suggestion: 5031 “Yet Another Murder Monster”
Despite the name the story is surprisingly wholesome
SCP 5031 when?
Yeeees, 5031 is such a sweet SCP!
Yes, now is a good time
You need to check out the different groups in the SCP universe!!
I highly suggest SCP-3456 The Orcadian Horsemen
I think what really exemplifies the flaw of the GOC is SCP 1730 where an alternate GOC that had fused with the Foundation had accidentally created a fucking leech god in their attempts to genocide anomalies.
Scp 3812 is really cool and interesting
SCP-5000 is a really good one
It just wanted to be a good chair! 😭🪑
This SCP has PTSD 😭
Please react to SCP 5031 please you will love him
Seconded!
Love this SCP :)
a SCP with PTSD
6511 is wild
8:18 Gotta read up on your GOIs.
SCP-245 is a fun one.
Some really good animated scp creators are( scp explained -story and animation)(the rubber)(dr bob) they really explain the scp wirh fun animation.
also there is scp confinement series a short series based on a d-classes life in scp just called (Scp Confinement)
another seies is by channel (professor lucius) also made a completed story based on scp foundation that is so fantastic
and a seperate series but similar to scp is the backrooms and the channel (backrooms explained) is also great
i hope you give any of the a try
ps. my fave out of them is the series by prof lucius
You should check out SCP 662 and 178, both are fun ones.
GOC defence would you like a arg style analog horror trope to be running around the world killing people then contain that monster and have the potential to escape and do it again like let say shy guy or peanut or even that bell
I would like to see Alicia React to SCP-2935
Please do SCP-173
I just remembered something that u could give a try is n-sainty or serial designation u
Come on and take a seat Douglth, it's not as hard as it may seem 0:55
SCP-1370
I just found out that Alicia had 0 knowledge about all the Group of Interest because none of the video she watched is introducing other groups of people that is also dealing with SCP. The only group she knew is SCP Foundation. Why??? Almost all the Group of Interest are fun to learn, such as GOC,Manna Charitable foundation, Church of the Broken God,Prometheus Lab,MC&D Ltd, Serpent's Hand and Dr.Wondertainment.
Huh, I've never heard of this one. Neat.
Please react to scp 5031
Yeah, 5031's really nice.
So the goc want to destroy all entities no matter how friendly they are
For the most part yes they also kill normal people that travel from other dimensions
Perdition's flame GrimDark story hour Warhammer 40 lore is a good video to react to.
Poor chair 😢
