Nicely done, Matt. Thanks for the laughs. Safety Third!
Dieing over here !!! That was the best part glad it didn’t do any damage !!
wow, when you were using that widow maker jack and the tub fell I was Yelling 'watch out!' and jumping for cover, that is one of the scariest things to have happen, could have ended badly, glad it didn't, thanks for the video.
I've never seen or heard of the shackle boxes before this video. Thanks for sharing and educating me on something new!
This was Matt's example on how not to move your rig! Just make sure your Life Alert is active. My jeep fell on me and I can't get up!
Hi Matt. One of my favorite parts of your videos are the unedited parts that don't go well. This makes your videos far more relatable and helpful, as things seldom go as well as what is shown in videos with the important " learning" edited out. Your sense of humor is also much appreciated. Thank you, and keep up the good work! Chris Conley
Haha, thanks
Just watching through the project and man I laughed so much , glad no one got hurt
Get some of the harbor freight green mesh wagons... I got 2 of them and so far I've moved axles, tire machines, cherry picker, about a ton of cement bags, and an entire garage metal building (while it was still disassembled :D ). Cherry picker on each wheel to put on one wagon, pull those 2 wagons any direction you want :)
Hey matt good video! Can’t wait to see that beast In action. Jeep up the good work man!
I love this channel even more now. Matt for all your hard earned success, you still do dumb-ass things like the rest of us!
There is a reason those jacks are called widow makers.
ROTF 😂😂😂
The look of surprise with the jack still in your hand.
😯 Thanks Matt
Lol. Good laugh right at the start.
8:52 those slider box things are a trip! look forward to seeing them in action 👍
So ready to see this monster done hard work will surely pay off in this build
Thanks for making Monday's better
Voice of an angel haha
Excellent 👍 I wait you weld slider box 😜
Looking forward to seeing those slider boxes in action! It’s a neat idea
Boy wish I had the extra $$ . I just bought a 78 golden eagle and it needs all of that lolol love your channel it's the reason I got the cj. Thankyou for content
An engine hoist would have worked better than the high-lift. I've done that with several stripped down Jeeps to load/unload them onto my little flatbed trailer to move them around my property...
I have also used a trailer axle w/tires and a trailer tongue from an old boat trailer. Strap or chain the axle under one end of the Jeep and do the same for the tongue under the other end. Then you can hitch up and move it like a trailer to where you need it on your property. I used that method to move a couple old military trucks around my lot.
Farm jacks are natural selection in action.
Wow that was crazy!Glad no one got hurt....
When the CJ fell I said right before you did that's one way to do it. I like that your not afraid to show when things go wrong.
It always goes wrong!
MATT:First I thought this was a blooper VID,you were SCARY with that tub,then the axle!!stay safe buddy!!!🔩🔧
The struggle is real!! 😄 (laughing with, not at, currently rebuilding the front frame of my 95 YJ)
I met him today out on the trail metal masher here in Moab, real nice guy
Lol I almost pissed on my self when that fell I am glad you are ok
That slider box is something new to me so it will be cool to hear how it works out.
Not to be Captain Obvious but I think we all saw that coming !
I made my 8 year old daughter watch it with me... She enjoyed it too... When you put the high lift jack on it, I told my daughter... this isn't going to be good... Then CRASH. hahaha
It never does.
Seeing that CJ get torn down to donate to a Jeep truck is delicious revenge for all the J-trucks that got torn apart for CJ guys to steal the axles.
Your face when you realise you've been working underneath that sketchy blocking all week was priceless.
Sketchy jack stands again🤣. Love the videos though keep up the good work. Getting ready to do my first axle swap wish me luck.
5:15 mark had you at going omg really quick and then boom !!
When the axles were being dragged away it popped in my head like a kid screaming I don't want to go to grandmas while there clinging for dear life
Awesome video man👊🏼
I literally lmao when it fell off the jack stands! Woke my wife up... she was pissed. I’m glad you weren’t caught under it and it fell away from you. But dam that was funny.
Gravity- it's the law!
:O towing off the towball!!! verry dangerous....
Matt, I'd happily take that steering column off your hands!
Hey Matt I think you should invest in a little Clark c15, forklift they are dirt cheap and can easily move those huge axles! Get long forks and move the cj body anywhere.?
Nicely done Matt, but I think you should wear a life alert!! When working by yourself!!🤣🤣
A sheet of plywood under the axle would pivot easy enough to direct the axle in whichever way you want to go👍
I really want to see more of the build on this Matt...lol less dinking around and more serious build stuff
Come see it! I’m in Moab!
Lol my hilift has come in handy lots but for that very reason I am terrified everytime I use it
You need a skidsteer with forklift attachment it would come in handy around the work place forklift tires would just sink in tht gravel
so what all supports the leaf on the slider box? just that nylon square?
There is a metal bushing.
I feel you bro I work by myself all the time getting shit in and out of the garage is the hardest part
That CJ reminds me of the old joke. Wanna great deal on surplus French rifles? Never fired and only dropped once!
Never disappoints
I'm very interested in how the slider boxes work out.
lool, that was a fum epi
Poor CJ
Matt I found something at a u pull and pay that you would get a kick out of but of course I can’t attach it here cause I have no way to. Hope your enjoying MOAB.
Matt apparently, buying a humvee hood for my 95 xj sport was a good idea
You know I've had a hi lift for a while now and it seems like its an injury just waitin to happen, I keep mine handy for jackin my trailer up..only thing I can use it safely for
I don't understand the leaf front, 4 link rear. Seams backwards. With all the great 3 link fronts for cherokee, I'm surprised your sticking with the leaf front. As a comanche owner, I'm really liking this build!!
your funniest video ever , i couldn't stop laughing .
Time for a tractor! Depends on your area, but you can find some decent tractors for a few thousand. They're great for moving junk around the property.
You know Matt... Being Captain hindsight... You could have just taken the axle bolts out of that 14-bolt on one side and it would have rotated a lot better. 😂😎😍😘
Tony Bolton I was about to say that
That was my first thought lol
Lol, this is starting to look like an episode of the 3 stooges. That time crunch can get ya sometimes.
is it bad that i was lauging this entireeeee video😂
Your probably out at ejs right now testing it out, and we're still watching you roll axles around. Anyway good job, and let us know how those slider boxes work!
Had it’s maiden voyage today!
BleepinJeep That's awesome Matt! I hope it did well. Maybe I'll get to see it in person some day!
I had to say I saw that happening with the jack stands
Man.. that hi-lift.. I did not see that going well. It didnt. :P
Yeah Matt that's a Shackle reversal system SRS on the front of the frame...
Haha aw some video! The leaf spring idea is badass! Could you do that to rear leaf springs?
Sure, they make bolt on ones for xjs
BleepinJeep alright, thanks!
Those slider box brackets are interesting! I actually picked up a pair for a cherokee a few weeks ago, I've been soaking them in rust dissolver from the po's neglect haha
I'm going to try making new sliding blocks out of nylon ,do you know what type of plastic are yours?
It’s called delrin, make sure you use that!
I've never seen a CJ lowrider before!!!!
It's a full float should of just pulled the shafts, or atleast pulled out 1 😂😂😂 although that wouldn't have been as fun to watch lol 👍👍
Blooper reel? Matt it's time for a little tow motor
Remove the rear shafts and it will turn anyway you want it too.
I love jeeps
what about just pulling the rear axles from the tubes.. that should unlock your diff so to say.. wont have both tires turning at the same time
5:12 "I totally didn't see that coming" said no one who has ever watched any of his other videos...
Awesome video Matt, I was cracking up. Now you are going to have all the Hi-Lift haters pointing to your video about why they are so "dangerous"...
As for those slider mounts I'm very interested to see how the cross bolts on the leafspring end and the slots hold up. That is going to be a lot of wear. Is it set up to use bushings on the bolts? Or is it just cross bolt and slot rubbing together?
There are Delrin spacers... it’s a proven system. No guesswork here.
Just had a question Matt. Somebody just hit my xj from the back while it was parked my left rear tire looks like its at a angle i noticed that the left leaf spring is damaged. Is this causing my tire to be at an angle? I'm hoping it is because money is tight and replacing a leaf spring seems cheaper than it being anything else.
Hard to say from here but sad to say I would guess the whole frame or hanger boxes are tweaked... not just the spring.
indeed, I'd take a tape measure to some good point of reference, like a crossmember bolt on each side, and measure to somewhere on the axle, like the U bolts that hold the axle to leafs, the axle 'may' be shifted, or thesprings could be damaged, or as BJ said a mounting point for the boxes or the whole uni frame could be throwing it out of whack.
Umm I hate to point this out but if you want to make sure your leaf springs are square aren't you supposed to go corner instead of side to side. I could be wrong but I know that s how we check trailer frames for square
Did that too
Well the important thing is that you didn’t get hurt.
Forklift in your future?
You really need to buy a fork lift😆
Rebuild the cj cut up that damn Toyota
Third rule first.
A home made 5' x 5' trailer project ?? flat bed..or 2 steel rails with wheels..
The struggles lol. you need a buddy to help.
Hey what's the best Dana 60 axle to stick under a 93 Jeep Cherokee thanks
Dynatrac
Sell me the fourth lug nut on the driver front off the CJ! I need it!
It’s a Chevy lug nut
5:13 THE EASY WAY! :D
Anyone else hear the Benny Hill theme throughout half of this video? Hahaha
3 min ad, nice.
Was it not skippable?
Off topic but if I put zj springs on my xj will I get about 2in lift?
Literally are 100's of threads on this on the internet. 1.5-2" yes
Evan G no thread is consistent from no lift to 2" and info from someone who has done it not people on a forum that can't agree
One inch if the zj is v8.
Mine sat right at 1.5" life with the ZJ springs, stock bumper/no winch up front.
well, most people won't be consistent about this as it depends on a few factors. I have had 2 pairs of V8 coils in my xj and it has always been virtually nothing to maybe 0.5". But that's because i'have built my own heavy bumber with bull bar that weighs it down a bit and also you must take into account wear of the coils. So yes, if you are completely unaltered in the front and the springs you're getting are in good condition then it will boost you up some 1 - 1.5 inches
Matt you need a forklift my friend
When/where will you be selling the frame/tub of the Cj7?
After I’m done
How much !!! I want it !!!!
A forklift would have come in handy
I was going to say it was me to get that jeep down off the jack stands i would have hook the strap to it and just pulled
Next time pull one axle shaft out.
You gunna have the comancheep at the expo in Moab?
Outside maybe.
Have you ever considered getting an old forklift/tractor with a front loader ?
No
What are you hiding that zj for?
It’s a top secret project
It's not going to be a cheap jeep build
