  • Thought I'd demo my fretboard radius jig.I'm sure I've talked about this in other videos but not sure I've done a proper demo.

First of all thanks for the kind words, much appreciated buddy.
If I didn't use handtools I'd get no excersise at all! Imagine how fat Id be then lol.
Takes me about 25 minutes to get a nice 12 inch radius using my sanding beam and regular blocks though.

Judging by your watch you are either up really early or you are working thru dinner time Lol! Sadly I still sand mine by hand. I drew up CAD plans for a jig like yours and a bunch of people on a forum built it and use it but I never got around to it. I think I'm convinced by this to bite the bullet and build one. Great job Dane!!!

You won’t regret making the jig it is a huge time saver. And if you were building a batch it would really save on the arm muscles. Probably working through dinner or ate early. Thanks for hanging out James.

Cool idea Randy. I had to scratch my head a bit before I could see what you meant. I just needed more coffee. How yah doing bud?

Thanks Randy, I guess you could cuts slots if you could figure out how to index the router.

I sand my fretboard radius because router bits are expensive and sand paper is cheap, lol.

IDK man I'm still using router bits I bought when I was building cabinets. They last a long time if they Don't "run" into things they shouldn't. But I think folks should use a method they're comfortable with and they get the results they want.

Brilliant, Dane! Simple and cheap. Exactly the kind of jig I would build. And I will build it (if I ever get done with my car revival project.)
I was thinking you could cut a series of notches, just less than the width of your bit, into the radiused edge of the sled so it rides straight, not cattywompus (Is that a technical term?) or cock-eyed. (That is definitely a technical term.) That would be the Pro model. Too good for me.

Thanks Todd, what kind of car project?

@@jonahguitarguy I'm updating a '79 Corvette that has a few driveability issues. And I'm contemplating building a new engine (383 stroker) for it. '79 was not a good vintage year for engines. Not the worst, but car makers hadn't yet learned how to meet smog regulations without sacrificing half the engine's power.

@@100amps, sounds like a fun project. I was an auto mechanic until '78.You're right things weren't good.
