With the Pro1-V Bigfoot, Trick Drums has reinvented the bass drum pedal. Boasting precision-machined parts and aerospace-grade bearings, the Bigfoot gives you cutting-edge features. It sports internal compression-spring mechanisms that are smoother, faster, and quieter than expansion-spring pedals; split cams provide independent adjustment of beater and pedal angles; a tension adjustment knob that lets you adjust pedal tension while you're playing; and much more.

It also needs spikes to hold it in place. I just returned mine yesterday. I was hoping it would be the last pedal I ever purchased, atleast the best. I cant understand why they would overlook this. I've been playing drums for 25 years and instantly knew velcro wouldn't hold it in place.

There is a pedal called (I believe) czarkie kopyto. If I recall they are a bit cheaper than the trick pedals but aren't allowed to be sold/shipped to the US because trick pedals has a patent dispute.

  • @BBEDrummerAK
    @BBEDrummerAK 5 років тому +20

Peeps griping about the price, consider this: 1) its all machined, high grade titanium, billet aluminum, and even steel. 2) its all manufactured in the US (like Axis), and as we all know, US made products just simply cost more because workers aren't making pennies on the dollar like they are in other countries that most manufacturers use to make their product (China, Taiwan, etc).
That's not saying the quality is any less with other high end pedals, but you're truly buying a tank of a pedal that will last you many moons longer than anything else.
And Sweetwater does have the option of making multiple payments on these pedals. Still expensive as hell, but that fact alone helped me pull the trigger on the 'regular' Pro-1V Bigfoots.
I played the first gen version of these pedals long time ago, and only stopped playing them and moved on to Pearl Demon Drives was simply because I wasn't playing extreme metal anymore, and I didn't need to play something that was like launching Howitzers at my kick drum. 😂😂 Im back to playing black metal again, and it was time I went back to a more serious pedal. Not for everyone, I agree.

I owned this pedal for a bit. From a manufacturing standpoint there is nothing above it. You really cant appreciate the quality, fit and finish and feel without actually seeing it in person. I ended up selling them and getting the DW machined series. But just because I preferred the feel. But Trick has the best manufacturing quality hands down.

I gotta say, I think this is the top tier of the top tier for kick drum pedals- with its infinite adjustability and the ability to turn it into two single pedals, this clearly does the job. I first heard of Trick this summer when Alex Rudinger started using their pedals for the direct drive that the Tama Speed Cobras do not offer and have been interested since. However, 1K is a lot to spend on a pedal which is why I’m much more considering the new Speed Cobra or the Pearl Redline Eliminator, both of which are less than half the price.
But I will say that the driveshaft is amazing. I currently use a Gibraltar 6700 double pedal and I was starting to set up the pedals in a straight line to reduce the latency of the secondary pedal (similar to Travis Orbin) but I invested in the Trick driveshaft for my Gibraltar double pedal (shoutout to my Sweetwater Sales Engineer Josh Strid for always being awesome) and it’s truly something else. The secondary pedal responds the same way a single pedal would and both beaters take the same amount of time to stop moving. Trick has some amazing stuff so if you don’t want to invest in the pedal, definitely go for the universal driveshaft. Great review, can’t wait for my new Ludwig Supraphonic (B Stock version with olive/blue badges on serious sale) to arrive this week for #HappyNewGear. Always love shopping with Sweetwater!!

I need a lot of dbl kick runs, so it's perfect for me. and I will say, for those learning how to play dbl kick, it really does help to have a consistent pedal to see your progress. The one thing that dosen't ever seem to get mentioned is how hard these can actually hit. In the directions it tells you to adjust the hoop clamp so that the beater impacts the head as close to 90 degree angle on the beater shaft as possible. When you do, look out! Easily compared to my old Pearl Eliminators for power. They even have a chain attachment now that you can swap out the direct drive portion if you are a hardcore chain guy.

This was by far one of the best pedals I ever owned... HOWEVER
Big disclaimer for those of us that use 20" bass drums, there's no way to adjust the spacing between the beaters and where they strike the head, so the second pedal is so far from center that the tone is awful. Not to mention the hoop clamp system should really be redesigned. After a year or two I had to switch out the bass drum clamps for new ones because of the tension of the spring diminishing over time.
If you have a standard size bass drum though, you cannot beat this pedal as far as comfort and ease of use. Compression springs on bass drum pedals will always be my favorite.

Yeah I'm definitely not a huge fan of the hoop clamp system either. It still pivots side to side because only 2 points underneath (outer area) and only 1 point on top of hoop (small center area). My old demon drives had a lot more better design. The clamping area covered a lot more area in detail.
Plus Trick's hold down WILL damage your hoop in time, that's why I use a small piece of rubber on top of hoop and underneath (for support). Although it's awkward to slide the pedal-on and holding rubber around hoop edge at the same time.

"Never say never"... I have a short-board and Pro 1-V pedal that are failing. The beater is sticking (no rebound) at the end of the stroke on the Bass Drum head. The Pro 1-V won't even return at times, it's sitting in the corner waiting for me to totally tear apart because looking under-neath the screw cap and disassembling the Spring Adjustment screw, components seam to be okay. @Derek Frampton good point! This is not an issue with Sweetwater, you guys are amazing! Seriously, how many working drummers or weekend warriors are going to be able to afford this? Who, outside of the sponsored drummer, is going to have one of these? There is a price point sweetspot that us drummers, whose primary income comes from a job outside of drumming, can afford for a pedal. For me, it's way too high. My old Pearl Demon Drive Direct Drive that I bought (roughly 500 USD) in 2009 replaced and Eliminator which I still have for my road/teaching kit...and that was a gigantic sacrifice. I moved up (tech and fit for my large feet and overall playability...for me) to a Speed Cobra double which was far less than 1/2 the price of this Trick rig. Is it worth it, probably! But, it was made to suite a very niche market (primarily super fast footed metal players) who don't have sponsorships. Having said the above, I hope they sell loads of these!

Reminds me of the Premier 252 pedal I played ages ago, which also had a one-piece footboard design ... only this pedal has the hinge at the very end of the footboard, not under the center of the heel like the Premier. I recall playing that old pedal heel-down sometimes, and it took a LITTLE getting used to, but it wasn't radical. I'm guessing that this Trick footboard will take less getting used to than the Premier did, because with the hinge all the way at the end, your heel is not going to feel like it's being pushed up. Your heel is going to be slightly ahead of the pivot point. So, while it'll take a little adjustment getting used to your whole foot including your heel being in contact with the board, it won't be a long or difficult process.

Tim Moran I’ve since sold mine. I give them credit for durability. Used for over 10 years with nothing breaking down.
I’m going a different direction next time. Unfortunately I don’t even own sticks at the moment. Starting from scratch and looking forward to a new setup.

Yeah I ended up selling my tricks too. I just prefer a lighter feel and a traditional spring. What did you replace them with? @@Eagles.Fan.Since.Super.Bowl.52

Looking for any Trick Drum pedals are hard to find, out of stock everywhere! My sales engineer said it'll be months before they are back in stock. They have a single pedal is about it I'd be waiting months for another pedal and the shaft! That sucks! Who to blame? Putin?
