Roatan Island Hounduras is my husband and my favorite place on Earth!!! We’ve been there 5 times and always do the same thing- the Tabyana beach break through Carnival. If you like snorkeling and diving it is amazing! We’ve been many other places and it’s the best. My husband said it was better than when he went to Hawaii growing up. It is like snorkeling in a giant aquarium. You can rent snorkel stuff on the beach or bring your own and the reef is right off the beach and it is a giant bowl of coral 20 feet deep teeming with sea life. On on the outer edge there is a big drop off to open ocean. The first time we went we even saw 2 Goliath grouper! It’s been built up so much since our first visit. They now have lifeguards that will take you out for a tour (for a tip- totally worth it). The lifeguards normally work in pairs with 1 swimming and diving with you and the other in a kayak following in case something happens. We’ve taken our children twice- 1st time ages 4&6, second time ages 3,7,&9, as well as my younger adult siblings who had never snorkeled. The last time my siblings were able to hang on to a rope attached to the kayak so they felt a little more secure and they even put our 3 year old in the kayak so he wouldn’t miss out or have to be left behind with someone. And the best part is they’d even point out things to him in the boat and bring stuff like sea stars or sea cucumbers for him to check out. You can get free lemonade and sweet tea (sooo good), and pay for food. I think they have an actual menu you can order from now, in addition to chicken and rice or a hamburger and fries type stuff. They also have a special drink to try the Monkey LaLa, it’s a creamy cinnamon and banana drink if I remember right. They have security to watch your things and keep the people trying to sell stuff away from the chair area (bring a tip for these guys as well). The security guys are very friendly and will help you find a spot in the shade and chairs if you ask. The do have many people selling everything imaginable (sunglasses, massages, shirts, hair braiding, banana doughnuts, dried seahorses?? and more) on the beach. You will be approached and left alone if you politely refuse- if not let security know. There is also a rock wall on the left hand side of the beach where you can see iguanas and a large rock close to shore over there where a bunch of fish hang out. Last time we were there a family gave us some left over banana donuts to feed to the fish and the kids loved it. Hands down the best place we’ve ever been. We’ve even debated skipping the cruise 😱 and just going straight to the resort on the beach! 1000% recommend!!!!
We went to Honduras and did this EXACT excursion with Roatan Five Stars after seeing your video. We had such a grand time with our tour guide Daniel. He said that you all have been such an undercover blessing to their company! We highly recommend Roatan Five Stars after visiting and going out on the island with them! If we ever return, we’ll do another excursion with them
For some reason I trusted y’all and booked Roatan 5 Star for our first family cruise. They were AMAZING and did not disappoint! We did the sloth/monkey/bird and snorkeling excursion with them. Our kids (ages 15 and 12) absolutely loved it and so did my husband and I! Thanks for all your amazing videos that help cruise newbies like us 😊!
Nice video and thanks for sharing. Loved it so much I booked this tour for my cruise visit to Roatan in November. I also appreciate all the comments from your viewers who went on this trip and shared their awesome experience. It helped in making my decision. I know it will be AMAZING!
Thank you for the information. I took your advice and booked the monkey, bird , sloth and 3 stop snorkeling with five stars. I was a little apprehensive about taking an excursion that wasn’t offered by the cruise line but, it was wonderful. Five stars staff is incredibly, very friendly and genuinely concerned for our safety and the safety of the coral reef. The sloths, monkeys and birds are awesome. Best Day Ever!!!! Thank you.
I feel I should point out, though you may have discovered later...Guinea pigs are used as food down there like we use chickens for food in North America. Don't tell the kids. ;)
Oh my gosh, as soon as I saw you kids holding sloths I cried my eyes out! I sooo want to do this and will be there in Feb, hoping to make it to AJ’s! Thanks so much for sharing!!

One our favorite places to go scuba diving. We once did a beach and lunch at a hotel before carnival messed that up by offering the same trip and over crowded the hotel and beach we paid 65 carnival tow 200 for the same package but ours was a 3rd party
We recently did this very same excursion. Everything you say is 110% spot on. Roatan 5 star did an amazing job. We even got to visit with Louigi the resident monkey at the owners house. Cannot recommend Roatan 5 star enough!!!

Question on the tour with the Sloths, are they kept for tourists or are they animals that cannot for some reason not be released into the wild. Sorry not trying to be a downer but I would love to go but if they are viable animals that should be in the wild then I will book something else.
We were there in June and liked it well enough however we booked a private excursion and didn’t enjoy it, the guide was more of a driver. We were on NCL and docked in Coxen Hole, not Mahogany, which looks nicer. If we go there again we will book an excursion thru cruise company.
How far is the walk from the ship to the private tour operators, and how many stairs are there? Or how steep is the walk? Traveling with someone who has difficulty climbing stairs so mot sure we can arrange for a private tour.
It is probably a good 15 minute walk with stairs and a hill. However, there are cabs there that will take you to the excursion pick up site for $2 a person. But you still have to walk from the ship to cab area. It's relatively flat though.
I am planning a cruise 2025 on the Jubilee. I’m truly concerned about the ship leaving without us or emergencies that may arise while with a separate tour group from a cruise excursion.
Question .. booking excursion with Honduras five star. Is that doing through them and not through what ever cruise line you were on? I am afraid of just booking through the locals, what if something happens, the ship WILL leave you...that is just a piece of mind for me..second question, does that company 5 star offer snorkeling best. My sister can not swim, but it did look amazing.. she would love the sloth part..I am kind of scare of picking up a disease from holding them. Please share your thoughts. We are going on the Mardi Gras again this October 22, it's my birthday...yeah. looking forward to your response

Aren't you afraid of being left behind when the ship leaves if something goes wrong with the excursion that you did not book through carnival. That is my biggest fear, that is why I book the the cruise line, they can't leave me behind. Please advise
Greetings Mrs. Mary, normally we have live information from the cruise ports of Roatan and we keep in contact with our tour guides, with a clean record of having all our guests back on time to the cruise port, we will be happy to take you and enjoy this wonderfull family-friendly excursion
I booked Roatan 5 star for a tour coming up in August and just watched your video on the 7 most dangerous ports. In that video you mention Roatan as one of those ports. Does this listing of Roatan as one of the most dangerous ports change your recommendation of this excursion company?
How quickly and easily did you get back to your ship though? What was the total time of this tour? I'm 5'9", can't swim great, and have never snorkeled before but am curious about trying even with a lifejacket on. Is this possible? Thanks! I'm going in August.
Our private van driver dropped us off at the port area so very easy to get back to the ship. If you are not a strong swimmer, I would recommend a life jacket. Enjoy! Snorkeling is so much fun!
Roatan is a safe place, we make sure our cruisers feel this way throughout the whole day of the excursion, a local guide will drive you and your group in a private vehicle so you can have more privacy and feel very secure
I didn't want to leave, I absolutely LOVED Honduras. Paradise!

Do they provide life jackets?
I booked Roatan 5 star for a tour coming up in August and just watched your video on the 7 most dangerous ports. In that video you mention Roatan as one of those ports. Does this listing of Roatan as one of the most dangerous ports change your recommendation of this excursion company?
No absolutely not. We would book with them tomorrow if we were sailing there!
@@TheTravelScouts Thanks so much! Love your videos!
I’m trusting you and booked for late August.
Is there a bathroom on the snorkel boat?
Welcome too honduras
This may be a stupid question going on my first cruise in march icon of the seas how do you breathe when youre so deep under water??
You don't. Take a deep breath while you're on the surface and dive down.
The parrot guy is funny
Hi Bonnie! Yeah, he was really good!
What was the Carnival ship name and how many days was this trip?
Hi Twilight Fresh! We were on a 7-day cruise on the Carnival Glory.
I tried finding this excursions but can’t find it on the website
I don't know about those sloths...they look like wonderful pets until one day you wake up missing your face 😬
Hahahaha! And we were surprised to find out they only go to the bathroom once a week!
Song name when they were snorkeling???
What if your ship misses the port? Will they give a refund?
I am sure they would. Check with them to make sure before you book :)
Yes we do a 100% refund if the ship doesn’t dock at the port. We also do the refund when their is inclement weather and the excursion can’t be done.
Price is $100 per adults and $85 per kid these days.
We are scared of roatan as it appears to be dangerous there. 😳
Was there in January No issues Beautiful island
We were at Roatan in December but we stayed in the cruise port at Mahogany Bay. We had no problems and the staff were very friendly
We never felt unsafe. We were with a guide the whole time in a private van. We stoped and did some local shopping. Never felt uneasy or unsafe
My wife and I love Rotana! I understand that Honduras itself can be scary but the people of Roatan are as friendly as can be.
Roatan is a safe place, we make sure our cruisers feel this way throughout the whole day of the excursion, a local guide will drive you and your group in a private vehicle so you can have more privacy and feel very secure
Stay away from turquoise beach
Why?
