I did this with my 6 man A squad with Luigi and the prisoners present, in an ironman run, saving Smiley. Absolutely epic fight that required 150% effort from the squad, to the point they were tossing explosives and shooting them in the same turn. Without question JA3 is my 2023 GOTY, although I don't play that many games anymore.
Man big respect for an ironman run. I'm honestly not patient enough to play ironman style, I'll get my mercs get wrecked because I play too aggressive. Same goes with shooters .. I'm overly aggressive and this usually kills me lol
There is another way to save and recruit Smiley rather easily. I fought and defeated the boss before meeting Smiley but he doesn't die right then, all his henchmen have to be killed though. After releasing Smiley when you go to the boss mansion again the same dialogue will play out between the boss and Smiley; and if you choose the combat option, this time you only have to fight the boss and it's quite easy to kill him as he is alone. You can recruit Smiley after that. P.S:- There is a glitch here sometimes where the boss becomes invulnerable to all attacks. The solution to this is to quicksave during combat and load it again. Now the boss will start receiving damage.
hahaha, now that is a good find! never thought about clearing the sector first, thought it would make you hostile to the boss, excluding you from the questline.
@@chr_isso I was surprised too. It seems it makes no difference if we kill all his henchmen beforehand, there will still be henchmen at the church to kill Smiley after we meet him. The only difference is that the boss will be alone with the girl at his villa afterwards.
@@chr_isso Actually you don't need to do the Luigi quest. I defeated the boss before meeting Smiley but he doesn't die then, all his henchmen have to be killed though. This is awesome!
Thanks bro!
I found Smiley at the church 🧐
haha, you made me chuckle. you're absolutely right about that ;-)
@@chr_isso I may have commented too soon. LOL
Just got my ass kicked!
Epic
Glad you like it
What if we kill this boss before we meet Smiley?
If you do the Luigi Quest before you start the Rescue of Smiley, the Boss will be dead and Smiley will join your team!
