Camel are the most outrageously talented band I've seen. I'm delighted that a young lady from Indonesia appreciates them. Obscure fact: Camel's current bassist (since about 1980) lived in Indonesia and wrote the song Denpasar Moon, which has since been recorded by over 50 artists and is one of the biggest selling songs in Indonesia after a Filipino singer called Maribeth recorded it.
I will never forget that Sunday, December 2nd, 1979. I was 14 at the time and watching Camel play their songs 10 or so metres away from me, was absolutely mind blowing. Thanks Elok.
I saw Camel 20th Anniversary Tour. They opened with "Never Let Go." Andy starts on accoustic and then goes to electric. The guitar tone was so rich and impactful.
Possibly the best performances of Camel are not on video, I highly recommend the album A live record (it is called that) and you will have a great idea of what these musicians are capable of doing. Thanks
Thanks for letting me know that Peter Bardens passed away, and that Andrew Latimer is still active!!! I grew up listening to them. They were very famous in Europe back then.
Yes,that was a real blow for the band. But they kept the beatifull music coming after that, but still a bit different than before the death off Peter Bardens.
For heaven's sake, good taste is not dead yet ! Thank you for sharing it worldwide ! Take a try to the live album "A Live Record" version of this track !It's even better and sharp skills from all the guys are even more enlightened
had almost forgotten, how god they were. check out "lady fantasy" from their "mirage" album. finest progrock. a real masterpiece. still got that vinyl album. thank you elok hsu.
Hi Elok, Camel is one of my favorite bands of progressive rock! You should react to Lunar Sea, one of the best Camel songs. The studio version is the best, but the live performance is still great!
Andy Latimer’s guitar solo on the studio version of “Lunar Sea” is in my Top 5 of all time…the perfect blend of emotion and pure control…and it plays like a roller coaster.
Another great choice Elok !Another example of great British prog rock God Britain was blessed with so many of them in the 70s. Talking of jazz rock fusion you simply must have Wishbone Ash on your list in my mind one of the finest proggers of that erea. Check out their album Argus. Play these guys and you have a friend for life. lol !Keep up your great work You have branched out so much Loads more for you to discover from that time ! Love ya loads !🎸💕
Glad to see that you like this classic band. I would never have heard of them when I did if it wasn't for a record shop that played them, and a friend who was into a lot of different music. Louisiana in the 70's was not known for having a lot of people who listened to bands like Camel, Colosseum, Renaissance, or other similar groups. Luckily the friend that I mentioned happened to be an audiophile that had shelves full of great albums. He introduced me to a lot of great music back then, and even introduced me to the record shop that played this stuff.
Dear Elok, Thanks for your heart ♥. Actually I saw them twice in Galicia, Spain in 1979 and 1980. They were very popular in Spain at the time. They never were very well known in England, unfortunately. They were very famous in Europe in the late 1970's and early 1980's. Thanks Elok!!!
I am late again, still catching up to your past reactions. Camel was very underrated (except in the UK) and was a key part of the progressive scene out of the UK, including The Strawbs, Caravan, and earlier still Gentle Giant (along with all the other usual suspects). You can see their jazz crossover-improvisational style that was part of the prog rock DNA. I will say again that I am very surprised at an Indonesian lady reacting to prog rock, this is very advanced for your age, congratulations!
nice tune....this was first time i heard this band and it was good! this is why i like these reaction channels ... you always can find something new intresting music and this time it s thanks to you! if you like progressive rock like this you maybe wanna try "kingston wall - shine on me"! you dont have to react it ...just enjoy it if you want to! ok.... keep on rocking!
Well, I would’ve predicted a horseback ride today before the camel ride I just received. Would be very cool if everyone at their concerts was offered a camel to sit upon as they listen. Have to think that would enhance the experience tremendously. I’ve heard this band but I’ve never seen them, so that was very cool, thanks Elok! One of the more pleasant bands out there to listen to. And your knowledge of music history continues to grow, which is excellent.
Odd that you should say that. In recent months I have heard several Camel tracks and l have thought...."Is this Hawkwind ? No, it is Renaissance. Or is it? No, wait up, it is probably Camel". And it was Camel.
One of my teenage years bands that I love(d). Bought every new album. Listen to the album The Snowgoose; a real classic album. The first five album are really good. Camel was quite popular in the Netherlands.
Hi Elok, Camel is included in a school of music refered to as Canterbury Progressive. David Sinclair, the guy you saw playing bass and singing was involved with at least 3 of those bands. My favorite was Hatfield and the North. I recommend, ' Son of There's No Place Like Homerton ', and ' Mumps ' by them.
I've never heard this band before. When I used to buy albums when I was younger I used to see a camel here and there but I never bought it or even looked at it. They jam. I listen to the Dixie Dregs w/ Steve Morse. Good pick Elok.
A very good progressive rock band, the guitar solos are always amazing, I got to see them twice in the 70s. You should try Genesis' "Selling England by the Pound" record with Peter Gabriel ...
Hello elok again. Effing brilliant. The mid to late 70s was the best time by far for jazz funk. Check out gato barbieri and the tunes europa and I want you live. He was my favourite saxophone player. I used to play this music at high school in los angeles. Hope you can react to my 2 gato barbieri suggestions. Lot's of love again from London josh.
Interesting choice Elok! I’m not familiar with this band, as my knowledge of British progressive rock only goes as deep as Jethro Tull, King Crimson, and Yes. They certainly treated the audience to a slick jazz rock jam here, and I’m glad you noticed the epic “guitar faces” being pulled by the dude on the Gibson EDS-1275. He reminded me of Robin Trower, who always looks like he has just swallowed a glass of vinegar when soloing! I look forward to seeing what you will be reacting to next! 🤘🏻
Dear Elok,
My name is Manuel Alayo. I am 57 years old. I saw them live in Spain, on December 2nd 1979. Thanks!!!
Camel are the best band I've ever seen. Bar none.
And I also can't always tell Pete Bardens from Andy Latimer despite being a fan for 50 years.
The bassist is Richard Sinclair, a VIP in Canterbury scene, member of Caravan and Hatfield & the North, among others.
Thanks !! I love Camel too .
Cheers from Argentina
Great band, great song, great reaction! 🖤

Great choice ❤👍😍 Thank you for this video ❤🙏 💖Camel is one of my the most favourite band 💖 Especially this song👍👍👍

Definitely! Their album moon madness is also a master piece.
THIS is it! THIS is the style of music which speaks to me. This and some Opera.
Wonderful! I love Camel! Great reaction! 😊🎶 Greetings from the Netherlands
Lucky to have seen most of their tours
Dear Elok,
Remember that Peter Bardens is the sole survivor. They were originally from Canterbury, England.
Actually, Pete Bardens is deceased. Andy Latimer has carried on the Camel name.
Thanks for the update!!!

@@gammaanteria Yes, Lunar Sea is fantastic, also featuring great use of synthesizers, courtesy of the late Peter Bardens.

Minor correction: Richard Sinclair, not David. A tremendous talent, I very much enjoyed him in Camel.
@@MrCherryJuice I must have been drunk😅
Dave plays keyboards Richard plays bass.
@@avantprog6902 Dave Sinclair was Richard's brother; they were together in Caravan. Even a sober fan could make that error. 😅
Try the track " Ice" live. You'll love it.

I'd recommend Night Meets Light, Assembly Line, or I'm Freaking Out for her.
Saw the Dregs and Steve Morse Band every time they came to LA since mid 80's.
parabens, queria ter uma filha como vc que entende de musica. continue assim, porque o mundo rock não pode acabar

I suscribe your channel thanks to this video. You are a good music listener ❤❤❤
Camel do a piece called God of Light Revisited, it is amazing; an early example of their work.
Super Band to Rock Sinfonic
