NoMachine didnt work for me it was slow over my local network all wired connections and so for local networks rustdesk is the way to go if you host your own relay and remeber to enable hardware encoding to the VM

Is nomachine running over SSH? Can I make it use a key instead of username/password?

It lags even more than Chrome Remote Desktop or Windows RDP...

Yea it's really not good. Very laggy. Poor picture quality when going from a 1080p display to a Surface display.

@@Cheddar-420 What? NX is the fastest protocol.

@@Termonia I was trying to use Fusion360 or Blender on my main PC shared to my Microsoft Surface 7+ so I could use a pen in these programs while harnessing the processing power of my desktop. Delay was significant and the resolution was horrible. 0 up-scaling.
This was actually one of the worst solutions I have tried as far as response time and precision. For any sort of design work this was unacceptable.
My use case is fairly niche, and it may be hardware compatibility.

WTH, on windows there is no place to set password, it just seems to be let everyone connect, WTF? The nice thing about VNC is that it doesn't require MS windows server client setup.

Nothing's really free. What's the catch with NoMachine?

It's proprietary, and is not free when it's for commercial use like in a business.

    Neat, but proprietary.
