This is NOT the televiaion age! This is the internet age. I'm 69 & done stay up late very often. I'd watch as much as I could, remember where I left off & watch it online the next day. On top of that, the first night I tried to watch the ABC coverage on TV (I don't have cable) but it was all pundits & only clips of a few speeches. I watched the entire convention online, at my leisure.
One of the unfortunate things that people a little bit older don't understand is that, Yes there are people who sit and wait for it live but in modern times we watch things when we want to watch them. I watched it when I woke up at 1:30 in the morning because I had the time and that's when I chose to watch it. That's how we watch things now when we want to watch them and how we want to watch them. The days of people sitting around the TV set at a certain time waiting for Tim Brokaw to come on is over so you really need to recalibrate.

Analysts are not the orchestrators of this convention. They have set the schedule to suit themselves. They are very aware of what they want to do and how. They are not just interested in tv viewership but also those who do not get their information from tv but other outlets that are later. Hi, Europe here. Prices here for basic food are so gone up, nevermind luxery is unafordable for me, the economic isn't easy... but we don't have to pay much for health care, abortion is legal, we have no schoolshootings, no abanded books and we are still free to do as we like as decent human beings. Though there is a war going on not that far away but Putin's empire seems to fall apart and that gives us hope for Europe. Cause hope is what we need and the economics - that is problematic worldwide - will find their way again on their feet. I know Democtrics understand this, some Republican's even too, now waiting for MAGA people to go cold turkey on their cool aid and your country will be big once again.

Analysts are not the orchestrators of this convention. They have set the schedule to suit themselves. They are very aware of what they want to do and how. They are not just interested in tv viewership but also those who do not get their information from tv but other outlets that are later. I even stayed up each day and have not watched a convention since 1988.
Agree that the scheduling with the DNC has been awful. I wish they would have canceled a few of the lesser known speakers and kept on schedule.
UA-cam makes the timing less impactful. I’ve been watching all the next day and I’m sure a lot of people do the same thing.
Trust me, people were more than willing to stay up later to watch the Obama’s speak. Everything about the DNC last night was electric!
You don't seem to understand that almost NOBODY WATCHES TV LIVE ANYMORE! We watch clips on UA-cam, but I'll tell you that everyone I know has had the convention on in realtime online and watched the whole thing because it makes us all feel better and connected in ways we haven't felt in more than a decade.
That is pretty concerning to me.
DVRs are used if you can't watch.

Them complaining about the run time is annoying. The east coast should not always determine when things are aired. Most people on the west coast don't get home from work until 9 pm est or later. By tge time they can sit and watch TV it's 11 est/8 pst.

Most people are probably watching it in clips on UA-cam anyway. Primetime is irrelevant when young people don’t watch live tv
In any political competition there must be what we call vacuum creation, people are still stuck on the electronics trying eager to listen to those speeches. The scheduling is deliberate
Prime time? What's that? If watching a speech live doesn't fit my schedule, I watch on youtube at my convenience. Not to mention the prime viewing hours for much of the country is earlier.

Hi, Europe here. Prices here for basic food are so gone up, nevermind luxery is unafordable for me, the economic isn't easy... but we don't have to pay much for health care, abortion is legal, we have no schoolshootings, no abanded books and we are still free to do as we like as decent human beings. Though there is a war going on not that far away but Putin's empire seems to fall apart and that gives us hope for Europe. Cause hope is what we need and the economics - that is problematic worldwide - will find their way again on their feet. I know Democtrics understand this, some Republican's even too, now waiting for MAGA people to go cold turkey on their cool aid and your country will be big once again.

I don't mind the timing, but I'm on the west coast. Plus, I've been mostly been watching the next-morning highlights, like these here. That said, everybody knows Hillary's a windbag. I went to the store; don't want to hear her or look at her. Most of the speeches, though, have been stellar. And wow, the music! Very fun convention.
Prime time doesn't matter. Lot's of people will watch it or portions of it the next day. You can't apply rules of 3/4 network broadcast antenna TV to this stuff anymore. 'Move into the current century. (P.S. I'm a 65 yr old boomer saying this).
Trump’s message has always been about “Feeling good about feeling bad”. That’s the basis of the negativity he pushes. Like my mother told me “some people are only happy when they’re miserable”.
