I really love the energy of Please, Please me - and John saying "All together now" to the crowd of busyness people at 4:11. Also funny knowing that they would make a silly song around that frase later 🙂
How does this not get heard for 60 years? Not complaining, I’m really glad to hear it. I was 3 years old when this was recorded. A bit older now. Listening to these recordings just confirms the obvious once again. Those four guys were a gift to mankind.
One of the absolute BEST live recordings of The Beatles! Really captures the freshness and excitement of the early years. I luv the naturalness of this recording.
@@pierre-marcbeaulieu5216 A few you can hear here on u-tube. In my own collection I have a few cd's from the Quarrymen, recorded in 1960. One is a double cd and it's called The Esher Tapes/Home Recordings. Mostly recorded at Paul's home with Stuart and some help of Paul's brother Michael.
Never knew this was even recorded,so for it to turn up is amazing. On a par with 'one offs' for the BBC like 'I'll be on my way' and 'Soldier of love'.....Many thanks Adam.
Extraordinary that we learnt from BBC Radio 4 today there's a tape of their set at Stowe School on 4th April 1963 - who'd have ever thought that one day there'd be existing tapes of CONSECUTIVE Beatles gigs, from this point in their career??!
You realize mister Mark Lewisohn has to track down the owner and interview him/her befor anyone from apple catches us all watching this? I keep thinking 'this is the end, now we have everything' and voila, here comes another treasure. And a big one because live beatles music without screaming fans, thumbs-up!
A very , very rare bass mistake! of Paul! A slipup to F instead of playing an E under "I can send it along.." interesting bass line in the end....to you, to you A E to Ab Eb awesome track!
wow, I was 12 and just getting in to guitar. Their later performances, as well as others, Chuck Berry, Duane Eddy, the Ventures etc. would mark the beginning of my lifetime of guitar playing. Wasn't as easy to learn the tunes then, we had to buy the record. lol
Thanks so much for posting this. Great quality and it really shows what a naturally talented, tight group they were! I would love to have been there to witness that! 👍
Great. You get the flavor of their interactions and friendship. And it is nice to hear the vocals. It almost sounds like there is a mic on the kick drum, but probably not.
HOLY MOLY, THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS!!!!!!!!! Fascinating: John makes a joke about Decca in the beginning (practically inaudible, but that's probably what George is laughing about). Also, interesting that Ringo doesn't play the syncopated accents at the end of the song! Perhaps this was one of those where he hadn't played it since the recording session and needed to re-familiarize himself with the arrangement. Also interesting how Paul is relaxed with singing a little bit on the intro of "Please Please Me" and giving little "yeahs" and stuff throughout. The audience ain't screaming, it's a bunch of murmuring men there to see them get their silver discs. (I believe this is when they received their silver discs for "Please Please Me".) FASCINATING! This could have been just another two versions of these songs and wouldn't have meant nearly as much if it was just another radio broadcast. WOW!!!!!!
What was the joke about decca? What john says? John did not bring the mouth organ for this occasion...interesting! Very nice performance and besides bbc we can hear no screaming from the audience...just press men doing their job
@@magneto6717 In the very beginning, when they're testing the microphones, they get a bit of feedback or have some kind of problem and John says something like "Who's on that mike?" He takes a beat and then adds: "Somebody from Decca." and you hear scattered laughter from the audience, obviously folks from EMI. Ha!
I love how the Beatles always were urging each other on to show enthusiasm with their little shouts and 'whoos!' They did this straight thru to the 1966 concerts.
John and Paul and George on harmony. It does not get any better than that!! All playing tight and George outstanding as usual understated as usual. Ehere less is more. Ringo stellar on those drums..But Lennon and McCartney pure magic!
Wow! What a great post! Much like the incredible BBC recordings, here they are live without the screaming as mentioned in a comment below; for a similar experience look up live in Paris 1964 (pre USA) right here on UA-cam
Amazing. It does make you wonder what else is out there. More importantly, what aging tapes will surface and what will be lost forever? Only time will tell…
everything they had live was present there. three singers. great writing. ringos drums were so steady and perfect even on the early tunes. george is so valuable. llennon mccartney well..just say their names.
What a great recording! Well done sir! Two weeks before this I was in the Carfax Assembly Rooms for the Beatles only performance in Oxford. Cost me six bob for the ticket! Are there any recordings of that concert I wonder (or photos inside the venue)?

Only a day or two before, they had played at a school in Buckinghamshire - another discovery (the tape from that night came to light just a few weeks ago). A year later they would be the hottest rock band on the planet!
Brilliant find. It's a shame the original recordings of Lend Me Your Comb, Carol and Soldier Of Love recorded in EMI's Manchester Square Theatre for Radio Luxembourg were lost.
@beatleman Gle1 You'd have to ask screwy Louie from up Manchester way. He stole them from the guy that stole them with the intent of returning the recordings to the rightfully owners. He played the originals for me before he got pinched.
Whoever found the tape of this special live performance; two words come to mind --- THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really love the energy of Please, Please me - and John saying "All together now" to the crowd of busyness people at 4:11. Also funny knowing that they would make a silly song around that frase later 🙂
I can't stop listening to this performance. It's so clean, melodic, and pure!
This is one of their -vocally- tightest performances. Audio quality is insane for a 63 show.
Actually, 1963 audios are better beacuse there were not as many screams as in 1964 USA tour.
How does this not get heard for 60 years? Not complaining, I’m really glad to hear it. I was 3 years old when this was recorded. A bit older now. Listening to these recordings just confirms the obvious once again. Those four guys were a gift to mankind.
That blend between John & Paul's vocals is not only captivating, it's mesmerizing. Love it, love it, love it !!!
Yes cuz they John and Paul is the best duo of all time

I’ve never heard a better performance of “From Me To You”. 😳
It is truly astonishing. They sound like the best version of their girl-group inspirations and more! Great rhythm, pure melodies, perfect harmonies.
This definitely must find his way on a future 'Please Please Me' Super Deluxe Edition!

A stunning addition to the growing collection of early Beatles live tapes!!!
Disconcerting to hear this early material performed live without the screaming! Great stuff!
Just amazing how good they were. Those harmonies are spot-on. What a gift this clip is!

Man what a great discovery. Thank you for sharing! Hearing these songs live without screaming is rare!
amazing find! They sound so relaxed even at this stage in their career. Pure charisma and talent. Thanks Adam!
Already done thousands of hours of live shows in UK and Germany in vastly more difficult environments
The fact things like this occasionally crop up gives me a little bit of hope for a 65UK tour tape 🤞🏻 maybe one day! It’s surely a grail!
Or even some of the 1964 UK dates…lots of songs done only on those tours as well

Never heard this before, thanks for post this rare performance audio. I wish i could see this performance video someday.
