I’m 35 and he’s all I know when it comes to Detroit sports, along with George Blaha & Greg Kelser. WDIV has been amazing to watch growing up, I miss Carmen and Chuck on here too, the weather hasn’t been the same since Chuck retired. We all knew this day was coming but it’s so easy to get spoiled, because now what? I’m starting to see how my Grandparents might’ve felt when certain ppl retired from TV because this stings! But I’m glad he’s going to finally be able to get some rest and enjoy the fruits of his labor but we’re gonna miss you covering sports. Happy Retirement and thank you for everything, you made so many moments special for us.

Bernie I am only 24 but I have watched you and rod my entire life I started watching the news with my puppa he passed when I was 9 I then would wake up before school and watch it myself and walk to the bus stop now I have my own 2 kids and they got to enjoy my news family with me that has helped us all daily nightly you were always there

Hey, Bernie, as a kid in the 80s and 90s, you were my sportscaster of choice (Eli Zaret a close 2nd). I left Michigan in 1999 for the military and never moved back home. You look and sound the same as the last time I saw you in 1999. Your humor and grace are 2nd to none. Thanks for the memories, and enjoy a well-deserved retirement!

I actually remember watching Bernie for that Brief blip he was on in New York (1995-96 at WCBS), He was good--but sadly, the management decided to do a Mass Layoff of talent around that time...the station hasn't recovered SINCE
Wow, that was best goodbye I ever heard. They saved the best for last. Weekends at Bernie will be missed even though sometimes it was very corny. It was so good to see Carmen and Chuck. I didn't see Carmen with her wedding ring on. I know life happens but maybe it's something in the at wdiv.
