I've been gaming the Lazrus wedges in black finish for almost 2 years. The 60 got worn down from bunker shots over about 6 months, another 6 months before the face turned almost entirely silver but the performance never dropped. The other two wedges that i have never used in a bunker but have hit hundreds of shots from chips to full pitches with both still have a near perfect finish, hardly scratched at all. These are great wedges.
@@mikebrown8149I have just bought the wedges and they’re amazing. They are so cheap you can afford to replace them every 2 years but they are great clubs. Highly recommend them.
@@mikebrown8149I’ve had mine for about 2.5 years and I use them almost daily and the black finish has started to come off but there is no effect on performance I still get tons of spin. Only thing is the grips they are getting pretty bad so I’m gonna replace them soon
I've had the black finish for a couple years now and they still perform the way they did when I bought them. The finish has worn down some but I love them. I paid $120 for the set when I bought them. Amazon also has silver if you don't want to deal with the finish wearing off
Excellent review. I personally purchased the black models in 52, 56, 60. I am falling deeply in love with them around the greens! I have noticed a large difference in feel between the 52 and my PW or AW from the main set. These "feel" so much better in terms of head weight... so much so, that I might gp back and get a 50 to replace my AW.
I have had the black version for 3 years now, I love them, after a while the paint does wear off on the bounce, the grooves are still in great shape, if you don't want to break the bank on a set of wedges you can not go wrong buying these..
Great review, Matt! I've had these for about a year now (chrome finish, still look great). Really like the performance and feel with these. I've gotten spin on some shots that have absolutely shocked me. I've also been pleasantly surprised with the grips and how well they've held up. Still good tacky feel which isn't what I would've expected. When I bought them I figured I'd be replacing the grips in the first few months, but the originals are still going strong!
I commented on a video you did about the Texan wedge set saying I nearly bought them, these were also a consideration so it’s so interesting to see you review them!
I’ve had the wedges since feb22, been playing golf for a year now and my short game saves my rounds, I’m so confident with my shot when they are in hand! I play with very old and used irons and woods (bar driver) and I’m looking to move up in my iron game, willing to review Lazrus irons/woods?
I have an older pair of Adam's Golf Tom Watson wedges. Mine are a 52° gap wedge and a 56° sand wedge. I've been thinking about trying the set of the Lazrus wedges because I don't have a 60° in my current wedges, and the Lazrus look good for the money. I would choose the black ones. Not a fan of the rainbow wedges, haha!
I also have these wedges in the standard steel color not black or rainbow great wedges for the money just be careful of the customs charges if ordering to canada from the us.$67 CAD was the cost of import and brokerage. Another great video Matt keep it up and you'll surpass Finch and Shiels...
I've put about a hundred rounds and tons of practice at chipping green on mine. I have the black wedges the paint on bounce and lower part of the face is fading but the milling and grooves are still near perfect. I did grind the heel of the 56 and 60 so I can open the face more. I have a set of SM7s that have sat in the garage all summer these are working that well for me. I'm a 9 hdcp so I'm not above trying cheaper options but take my game seriously enough that they wouldn't still be in the bag if they didn't work for me.
I've always been a fan of brands that use the same tech as big names but cost less due to not having pro sponsors to pay. For example, as an ice hockey goalie, one of the biggest best names in the game is Vaughn. I've used their pads and absolutely fell in love. That was when my parents bought them lmao. When I got old enough to buy my own, I went with a brand called Simmons, using the exact same tech, very similar styling, but didn't pay pro sponsors, so the cost was much much cheaper. And I loved Simmons. To this day, my favorite set I've ever owned. Vaughn, for 2 leg pads, a glove and blocker, looking at between $1700 and up to $2100. Simmons are the slightly cheaper/same, BUT, they're fully customizable, which can cost hundreds or more with Vaughn. I have bee skeptical of this wedge, even after Mr Short Game reviewed them. But your review convinced me. Getting them tonight!
I love my Lazarus wedges I also have the 72° wedge, I’ve reshafted them all to 125 S Hi-Rev 2.0 KBS and jumbo CP2 wraps. The spin and feel have been amazing!
I think the finish is cool in certain applications but I don't love it in golf. Mizuno also makes blue irons but I'd feel like I need to have a much better game to pull off something bold like that. Just bought the 52/56/60 set today in silver.
I bought the MD Superstrong STR30 wedges in 50, 56, 60 direct for £130 Forged and CNC milled faces. They look like normal wedges and they absolutely rip the ball.
I have one of their 4 hybrids and other than no adjustability I hit is just as well and as far as my Mizuno hybrid, but it cost $49. I guy I play with has these wedges and they stand up to my TM set.
Yes, Science! Excellent work there Matty. They do appear solid wedges. Probably not the wedges for me, I just received my set of Wilson’s, 5 months later. Plus I have them gapped at 50, 54, and 58°. Better matches my T100-s’. PW in that set is 44°. But these wedges do seem nice. If I was in the market for these lofts, I’d lean Kirkland Signature set of wedges. Costco has me hooked Man. My Costco putter will be here Friday. 🤣🥂
Love these clubs has changed my game a lot I just bought one of there hybrids and thinking about getting there irons would love a review about there irons
Last year had a hard time finding left handed wedges in different lofts. Paid 80$ Cdn on sale for the black set because they had them left handed. Happy with them, especially for the price.
Hi i am going to go for theae or Wilson. As a beginner these will work just fine. Lately even ebay is charging top $$$ for rusted thrashed wedges, you prolly have to regrip. (I hope my golf resutrects from the dead. 😂)
They look good value for £50 each. I got some second hand taylormade m-cgb irons for my son £260 look brand new thanks for the advice. Just need a couple of wedges and a driver now
Do their irons/hybrids/fw woods/putter too! They will send you free clubs to test if you contact them through their website and tell them of your channel
With my game [and my age] I could probably use these OK except for the 60-deg one; I cant use that amount of loft at all. And yeah, that jazzy colour version would NOT be my choice either. Cheers
Did you say alloy steel? Steel is an alloy, so they're alloy alloy. Try a soft metal, like lead (or gold) for the clubface- just a thin veneer. I doubt you'd lose much distance. Its softness would be compensated by a greater mass.
I’ve had these for a while now and get great results with them, however someone I played with questioned whether they are legal clubs or not. After a brief look online, they don’t appear to be legal. Could you confirm?
I don't think im a big fan of the look of the rainbow finish out of the box. As they wear down and start to have that raw silver with the rainbow accents on the less used parts of the face and back, I think it might look really cool actually! I really liked the look of the silver bounce of the 60° with the rainbow accents around it. Maybe it's just me 🤷♂️
*Orders rainbow finish *Acts surprised when they come in: “they it just looks a bit funky…. I mean it’s wild, it’s just a bit wild” yeah… lol that’s what you ordered
What is conveniently left out of this review is the extortionate amount of tax and duty you end up paying. Roughly 50%. You would actually be cheaper buying better quality clubs in sale in Uk.
I must’ve bought some defective ones because I thought they were the worst wedges I’ve ever had in my life. Zero sweet spot felt like I was hitting rocks.

Good to hear some feedback from someone who's used them for an extensive period
these wedges are awesome, i tried the black finish ones and ive had them for 6 months and they are slightly worn but have held up really well
You should have an average golfer try them. We all know a golf pro with the proper technique can make almost any wedge work. Nice review to be fair.
Fair point that's why I test them against another wedge to showcase performance regardless of swing

Had these for a month now and they are really good. Great stopping power with the grooves, and helping my short game immensely. Thanks Matt!
A great report Matt I would be OK with those colours which would brighten up my day, the way I play.
Can you do a budget wedge showdown? Lazarus, bombtech, Wilson Harmonized, Kirkland signature

I had the black and loved them, I gave that set to my mom and got the sliver exactly for the same reason to not see wear and color loss.
Awesome video! Would you be willing to try their 4 iron or other long irons?
You're not the only one to mention it so I might look in to this
I am with you on that finish, super encouraging that they stood up on spin and distance though
Been using the black ones for a couple of years, no complains, no face wear, only in the sole
I bought these a year and a half ago in the chrome finish and absolutely love them.
Distance was spot on and loved having the 3 wedge set in the bag

Lazrus claims they're legal. You can contact them from their website
Are these wedges legal? I saw a report they are not on the USGA or R&A Conforming club database?
It's called "oil can" finish...popular with mountain biking parts.
I don't think im a big fan of the look of the rainbow finish out of the box. I think even the premium wedge like Vokey are cast not forged.
$117 on amazon for 3 of these is amazing
Link?
Actually if you slide over on the listing in the middle there is a bunch of different choices and the rainbow is there
Rainbows are $157 for 3 take the chrome for $117 and oil burn them for free if you really want that look
I have a friend who plays these. He save a ton over the major brands.
They look like a great find 👌 I think they look nicer than the titleist wedges
More spin and more distance than the Titleist, at around a third of the cost? With a premium feel? Good lord, Lazrus.
Are these clubs illegal in club competition s?
What were the shafts and grips like?
Shaft were no name seemed okay, grips own branded I would say they may have a shorter shelf life from what I see with other grips like these
*Orders rainbow finish
*Acts surprised when they come in: “they it just looks a bit funky…. I mean it’s wild, it’s just a bit wild” yeah… lol that’s what you ordered
Seem to be a great bargain.
Looks like it’s missing a few grooves where you need them. . . .
Bit harsh critisizing the paint finish then showing a "premium" wedge covered in rusty pockmarks!
Are you aware that Lazarus uses this video as an ad on Facebook? Obviously edited down
What kind of shaft is in them? edit: nevermind, i see you answered that already. no name shaft and grips.
The grips say "Lazrus" on them but they feel great, pretty much just as good as golf pride velvet. They do seem a TAD smaller than GP standard though
PXG, awesome, screw Amazon.
It's a shame these aren't USGA legal here in the USA.
Really? I used them in several amateur tournaments
I wasn't aware of this? Is it because of the grooves?
I’ve never heard that, why are they not legal?
The company claims they are fully legal. It's an American company (out of Idaho) but the clubs are made in China
@@ikigai47 USGA has a searchable online database. If the club is listed in that database, it's legal. If it isn't in the database, it ain't.
Hey. It’s LAZRUS. Not LAZaRUS.
I feared this "oil slick" neo plating would become a thing in golf. It works for some stuff, but not golf thankyou..
