    I set Perfect Pearls with far less water. I learned from a (really old) Ranger video with Debbie Tlach to lightly spritz water in the air and waft the "pearled" cardstock through the mist. After 3 light sprays the Perfect Pearls are set, the cardstock is barely damp and no heat gun needed.

    • @awenbunny

      That's how i set mine too. just the tiniest mist.

      I’ve done that, too. It just needs a little water to set the gum Arabic so the powder doesn’t rub off the card.

    Everyone! Be careful when brushing off the excess please! It is such a fine powder that it goes into the air. Alexandra is standing so hopefully she is far enough away that she is not breathing it in. 💙 I watched a demo once where there was a bright light shining on the area and I was off to the side and could see the powder going right into the demonstrator's face. We have to respect all of these wonderful products as we enjoy using them. 💙

    I’ve been using Perfect Pearls for years. I made up a watercolour palette with them, using Tim Holtz’s palette. I put some Perfect Pearls powders in each section and then added a small amount of water, mixed it in and left it to dry. I now have dry pans to use like regular watercolours. I printed an acetate sheet to go inside the lid with the names of the colours so it lines up when the box is closed. My favourites are the dichroic ones that change colour according to the angle you look at them. I also mix some Perfect Pearls in water in a spritzer and spray a lovely shimmery background. I haven’t seen the layering technique before so that’s another one to add to my arsenal! So nice to see someone using these - they don’t feature much in people’s techniques, which I think is a shame, because they are so versatile. They are mixed with a soluble gum which sets them once you wet them - this makes them much easier to use than regular metallic powders.

      @@Pebblesmas My pleasure. Not my original idea (can’t remember who it was but I found it years ago online). You can also do the same thing with alcohol inks. Just drip the inks into the sections on the palette and let them dry. You reactivate them with a brush filled with alcohol - I think my brush is a Ranger alcohol ink brush? Again, can’t remember. Anyway, use it like a water brush. You can pick up the dried alcohol ink on the brush and paint with it. This gives you a lot more control than the usual method of applying alcohol inks. A while back I used this method to paint the sections of some butterflies I’d cut out of acetate - the result was brilliant. Have fun!

      @Pebblesmas 2 роки тому +1

      @@ShoshiPlatypus Hello, I don't have alcohol inks and not going to buy them ;-), but thx 4 that idea. But regarding the perfect pearls and the Tim Holtz pallet, after reading your comment, I found a video that said that after the perfect pearls (she put them in a china pallet) would dry up, you could not activate them anymore.... but you say you can reactivate them, right ? thanx 4 replying to my message, so nice to hear from you. Have a lovely day, greetings.

    Wonderful ideas! Thank you very much for inspiring me to dig out my perfect pearls from 2009/2010! Love making use of things I already have! Another idea is to use the Black Perfect Medium on the black paper when doing the lifting technique... the results are a deep, rich black quote! 😄😍😉

    I like to tap the brush over the surface and let the powder sprinkle onto the cardstock. I find it gives a softer edge when blending colours. I forget where I saw it done but it gives a more uniform coverage of powders and the where the colours come together is a nicer transition. Thanks for the reminder to get out my perfect pearls.

    I'm not even a minute in, but, know you read, so, wanted to share. I had never heard of perfect pearls, until about 5 or so years ago. I simply didn't pay attention. I felt stamping was cheating for a long time as an artist- I think, because it's Not MY image- I grabbed the starter set, and loved them, and bought a Big Set of PearlEx!! OOPS! So. I have All of this PearlEx, and it's Not Exactly what I had intended.
    Now... I use AND Love Both products. I just buy extra clear embossing powders, and make my own colors. However... I DO Love the versatility of perfect pearls. I thought I'd scored a massive set of perfect pearls- I'm just glad it wasn't "wasted money" lol... and, thank you in Advance for sharing your techniques.

    Hi. Thank you for the video. I had a couple of questions. I just tried this last week but it still rubs off some after spritzing it with water. Should I just use more water? I thought I put plenty as it is. I was trying not to over saturate it. And also, my paper was left with powder all over the paper besides my image even after trying to clean it off with a cloth. It’s not coming clean like yours. Any other suggestions? Thank you!

    • @HedgehogHollow
      @HedgehogHollow  4 роки тому +1

      Marilyn Garcia for the left over powder try an anti static tool. For the setting try more water. Even coating even one or two coats so you don’t over saturate and it runs. Hairspray works well too
