  • 3 months of work in 14 minute time lapse. We dropped an hard sided pool down into the ground and built a retaining wall and topped it with a bench.

"Fantastic work! We tackled a similar project, albeit on a much smaller scale, and faced our own set of challenges, like not being able to fit a backhoe into a tight backyard. We dealt with unexpected hurdles-like our camera overheating every 10 minutes, delays in receiving supplies, and even a few mishaps with our footage. Despite ending the day with sore muscles and feeling a bit overheated, it was an incredibly rewarding experience. It’s a lot of hard work, but the results make it all worthwhile!"

Holy JESUS! You have some easy soil to dig. I get about 10” down through the topsoil and it’s rock hard hard pan. I literally have to use a roto hammer with a spade to plant a tree or shrub in my soil. My soil breaks in shale like plates. Good job my friend.

Yeah we defiantly do no denying that. Thank you! I grew up in Western WA on glacier deposit and we couldn't put a shovel into the ground without hitting rocks so I'm very appreciative of the place we live now. I put up over 400' of privacy fence (52 fence post all dug by hand) It never would have been possible with soil like yours or like what I grew up on.

Thank you! yeah I wanted to rent a mini backhoe but nothing was available for months. So I didn't have much of a choice. I had already made up my mind that it was going to get done and not much stops me when I get in that mode. Not sure if I'll ever attempt that again! but makes for a great story now.

@dbarrelbeatz2025 Thank You! I always try to look at it this way... In ground pools in my area start at 100K for the same size and this one with everything was 17K. So I saved at least 83K right? Kinda helps a little when thinking like that. Still sucks that everything is so dang expensive now days. Hope your able to do something for yourself soon, good luck!

Thank you! I've had this question a number of times since building it and I can give what I paid 2 years ago but I have no idea what inflation has done to the material cost now. The pool manufactures tend to run seasonal deals and I've seen the pool listed for less then what we paid. The pool was $6,000 (from The Pool Factory), the porcelain pavers were $2,500, Trex deck boards came to $1,000, concrete for all the post was about $350, lumber was $2,000. There was probably another $2000 in miscellaneous things like fasteners, electrical, new pool pump and sand filter, piping, tool rental, ect... I know the total came in around 15K and then we still had to find all the decor to put around it. Oh and of course my effort was priceless...lol! Hope this helps, Thanks again!

@DomT_1987 , Thank you! I ordered them off of Amazon. I also used the same ones on the side of the pool to light it up as well. Sort of unrelated, but did u track how much weight u lost while doing keto and digging?

    • @FoPar1969

At the peak of doing Keto and digging I was averaging a pound a day so I dropped 30 pounds in a month.
