    I was a little boy when this aired. All Christmas shows when you're a small child has a way of warming you heart even the smell of a fresh cut Christmas tree has a way of sending a warm happy feeling through you're very soul. My mother and father are dead but boy does it make a person yearn to go back to a happy care free day. I had very loving hard working parents that made Christmas veery special . These happy tv shows were wonderful setting around watching with you're family. I am happy to be able to watch them again thank you for posting them.

      When watching these old classic sitcoms Christmas episodes, I often wonder what it was like for the actors to make a traditional Christmas show complete with cold and snow, etc. in Hollywood where it was a balmy 70 degrees and sunny! I mean, it makes US feel all good inside but for them, it must have felt SO fake!

    Thanks for putting this on here to see. TV today has so much foul language and it is nice to remember when it was okay to let kids watch whatever was on. Green Acres, the Beverly Hillbillies, Andy Griffith, I Love Lucy, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, and even a little later Adam 12 and Emergency all were shows kids could watch and not be exposed to filth. Thanks for posting this.

      Yeah I know . 2011 was without a doubt the worst . But we have to move on . I was lucky enough to meet someone . But still , she feels it as well , so many family members are gone . Even people we loved on TV and the movies are gone . I suppose I finally understand what the older people went through . I guess this is what you call life . I hope you're doing well . Good health and happiness to you .
      Great show wasn't it ? Yeah I still love trains ! Even planning a Lionel layout finally in my spare room ! lol

      and had an extended family network but there were a few older widows who were not invited over for xmas and now I see how terrible it was to overlook them . 2016 will be another bad one.

      We have and are still living thru a moral-spiritual holocaust. We can rebuild only thru the teaching and practice of virtues going forward, especially purity. Tall order but theoretically possible. Nostalgia alone won't help the coming generations. First the truthful negative, then the truthfully positive. Truth.

      @Queen of Cameroon Its not so much the fact that the mothers work. Its that most of this generation of mothers are crude slobs who don't know how to act themselves so how can they teach their children civility and manners and how to be a lady.

    I grew up watching this show, learning the customs of American life in the early 60's ♥ BOY, don't I miss it - even knowing now it was a well-made fantasy.

    • @jamesw1659
      @jamesw1659 4 роки тому +5

      It was not a fantasy, it was an idealized version of our lives then. People dressed that way, spoke that way, and behaved with a courtesy that young people today cannot even imagine. Find some pictures of ordinary people from the late 1950s or early 1960s on the street in any city. Notice how well-dressed they were. The average person had a lot more self-respect. People didn't swear out loud in public (well, not much...it wasn't acceptable). Men held doors for women and removed their hats when a lady entered an elevator with them, and they had enough manners to never wear those hats (or any hat) at the table. We have become incredibly sloppy and lazy in our manners toward others.

    When I first watched this series on tv in the mid-60s as a lad, it was paired (here on UK television) with another series which our whole family enjoyed: 'My Three Sons' (the *original* series - in black and white (like this one) - in that case, with the character BUB the granfather as the housekeeper). The two - 'Petticoat Junction' and 'My Three Sons' (also available for free viewing here on youtube): these made a nice neat little early evening hour of tv light comedy then. I recommend them both - for 're-watching'..
    and perhaps reminiscing?

    Can't recall seeing this show till 1980's. Grandpa got us our first TV set the year he passed in 1966. I was only 5 then. Dad never believed in TV.How can people be actual in a box? He was born in 1907 and was gradually believing in electronic as reality.

      Another show with old trains that I loved in the 1960's was The Wild Wild West

      Yes, Your correct . I think it was this show plus Green Acres, Mayberry RFD, Beverly Hillbillies, and If I'm not mistaken Andy Griffith show had a crossover show where Sam Drucker's general store played a role in it as well as The Munsters,,, I could be wrong on the last show ,the Munsters ,but I know I'm correct on the others.
