Now that's you represent your culture! No diss to the Marc Anthonys and Daddy Yankees of the world, but them and their fathers were influenced by the Bomba
I wouldn't even just say Afro Latino.... We have this thing called world of nations in my city. Each divided sections by Continent, Groups that represent each country put up tents and they sell merchandise and food and some have entertainment. We had a Bomba group perfom and midway through about 30 minutes in, I guess someone from the African section heard the music and got some the people from the African Continent section and they joined with us and danced. It just speaks to how rooted African culture is in Puerto Rico that Puerto Ricans can play and dance and the African peoples can join seamlessly and it was beautiful. I cried alittle
dadoggeth1 hahaha it is you..lol. That's that African drum bro us Puerto Ricans still have the drums and most of the carribean. It's infectious once the party starts much love !
I am born and raised in Puerto rico and this music hits my soul!! Such a beautiful thing that our African heritage is preserved and respected by our fellows African American as well. We are all brothers and sisters!
Go ahead and try that shit in some black neighborhood. They gonna kick you right out! Spanish people are considered white to them even if you look dark
You know what I love, that guy in the back dancing so passionately. He's clearly not Puerto Rican, he's African American and this is where we are similar, cause even though some of us are not as dark (I have very clear skin because our European heritage) we all have African blood running through our veins. This is beautiful! And that guy I just love him dancing and embracing the African in him :D
Man .... everytime that I see this video im humbled and truly appreciated that the most high allowed this experience to grace my life. 5 or 6 years later... one of happier times before this corona b.s....
I am puertorican and I love the way you embraced our African music. You are our brother and Africa is our mother. Now you have to visit the island to have the whole experience.
this is why the u.s. needs much more Boricua & Black flavor.... the biggest smile on my face, especially watching the young lady in the grey sweater & striped top towards the end ...nena, you KILLED it that was TREMENDO 💖💖
I was born in NYC and when you are outside of Puerto Rico we gain a perspective of our culture that gives us our awareness of what its like to be a Boricua. We have many forces in the U.S. that attempt to degrade our sense of humanity and Puerto Ricanness
How does this only have 64,500 views??? This is the type of stuff that the world needs to see and get up and move to!! This music heals!! This is epic!
That was Amazing 😉 I love my people and this is for people that say that we Puerto Rican don’t love our Africa ruts nena we have it in our blood just put any tambores and you ll see
That's the essence of my people right there, happy people! Then there's that other side of us ¯\(ツ)/¯. " Candela" 🔥. Estoy acostumbrado a ver esto en Loiza, Carolina o Juncos y las otras partes. Tremenda decision hacerlo en el metro ahi si que las "congas" suenan, bien echo Buya, esto es ser Boricua. Over 500 years with this......and it never gets old with any generation we present it to!
orgullo Boricua, I love it. I learned so much from this other video, check it out: ua-cam.com/video/nudQ0m5mSYM/v-deo.html here he talks about the instruments, they call it "barriles de bomba"
Wow ! I know a couple of the drummers in this video from my time spent going to see my then girlfriend , who lived in Chicago and was involved in this music Genre from Puerto Rico .That was over 15 years ago , amazing how time goes by so fast ...
💯Amazing what three drums can sounds like. You can't describe this. True blessings im in tears. Positive vibes inside and out GOD Bless from Brooklyn in Christ Jesus name.Amen💯🙏😃

Puerto Ricans are not diverse, I've been to Puerto Rico 13 times and they are black, even better. (Lightskin) They have non black people, but only a little.
Gabriel Valdes-Ramos actually in loiza, Puerto Rico is VERY rare that you see a white Puerto Rican that’s where out of the whole island there is the most African culture and BOMBA
@@alanisprado6595 I know the difference is that Loiza is darker skinned. But the majority of the island is still black and i hate when people say Loiza is the only black part of Puerto Rico.
Gabriel Valdes-Ramos true ! I’m a black Puerto Rican and my whole family including me are all dark skin and I was born in loiza but my family is from yabucoa and HUMACAO and the reason why we moved to loiza was to connect more to our African ancestry and to know more ab por culture besucase there is thousands of black Puerto Rican’s all over the island but If it wasn’t for Loiza our culture would be kind of lost ..
This is TRUE Puerto Rican music...Bomba and Plena reflect the African heritage of Puerto Rico.

Proud of my AfroRican Heritage. 👏❤
When those drums start it hits something so primal and essential to the DNA of anyone with Afro Latin roots. Beautiful

The majority of Puerto Ricans are black. They're not very dark tho, because they're also spainiard.
