Now you are finally using the right product!! You just need a crash corse on how not to use the gun!! hahahaha Jokes a part I miss you here to help on the new dream workshop!! 😘
Hey!! Thanks, we’re glad you like it; yeah… it’s quite the effort for a camper! Worth it? I’m not so sure in this application as we don’t need the strength of the robust nature of the techniques but it does look good!
Happy Holidays! So fun to see fellow Van builders with another common affliction: Aluminitus. Mine however are land yachts. A 1965 Sovereign and 1969 Safari -Airstreams. I’m looking forward to your sailboat project but wish you had more time to share more about this van build. So many great ideas and inspiration. I’ll be sure to check out your channel recommendations.
Hey fella! Thanks man, I’m glad you like the van! The boat will be cool when we start the refit as it’s all about new tech, reducing weight whilst still being practical and comfortable!! Should have something in there that you could use in an airstream! Those things are cool!
Always a struggle, I tend to put the mixing cup in a larger cup of warm water 5 mins before mixing and intermittently drip it in when required after the mix. When we filmed this YT was around 3° so temps were easily manageable with the west systems.
Over catalysed resin possibly? Mind you west does have a yellowy pinky tinge when in the pot. But it’s not noticeable on the job usually. You can go for a clear resin but you loose often some bonding properties.
Always a total pleasure watching your videos. I've said it before, but it remains true, it's like watching a true artist at work and seeing the masterpiece develop before your eyes. Wonderful viewing, the world doesn't exist when I watch these, totally absorbed. Thanks guys! Cheers 🍻🍻
Really enjoy your content. Fantastic to see the use of simple tools and well known techniques in the hands of a craftsman produce something a little special. All the best! Paul
Haha I used the west system to refinish my cedar strip canoes, I don’t remember the ratios maybe 5/1 but the guy in the shop didn’t tell me the push nozzles did that so I had to scrape off a lot of uncured resin after realizing two days later it was never going to harden happy memories😂. Can’t wait to see the finished van keep em coming and best of luck getting to the show.
Oh man… that’s a corker… we had something similar the other week where we made the shower tray and put the gardener from a different resin in the mix by mistake.. oooops. Mind you, I left it for two weeks and it worked! I wouldn’t even try to do that usually but for my own shower tray I have it a chance! Lucky!!! 😅😂
Cheers! The inspiration came from Spirit, they are a little more spacious and we can store more under there! Which in the van is really important for us!!
This is just stunning. The angles seem to create more room than it takes. BTW, I must have said before, but here you go again: you have the best music tracks on UA-cam. Excellent quality. Cheers and happy new year to you both and your friends and family. Twenty twenty five will be awesome.
Hey up bud! Yeah, we’re always kinda surprised with what we’ve squeezed in there! Just like the boats, loads of preparation and thoughts went into the layout! Glad you like the music choice, it’s takes a while to source but we feel it’s a big part of what we do! Roll on ‘25! All the best!!
Cheers for that, we’re working on that, fit done reason out renders sound different on YT so bear with us… we’re trying to sort it!!! Do k look at us know in the next one if you think it’s better - super valuable feedback, Cheers! 👍
West System, yes brilliant, been using it for over 25 years. The mixing is consistently reliable and it is to a recognized standard for the governments. We do use a more expensive resin in Carbon work for a higher performance in aviation.
Yeah mate, exactly the same here. We tend to use pro set for carbon, and a mix of other resins for different jobs but west 105 is a go to for general use 👍😀
No target weight to be honest. We will likely get her re-plated at some point. We just got the joinery all done and got her weighed in with all the tools still in the van. She came in at 3.1 so I’m pretty happy with that.
Yeah mate! Too easy 😀 To be honest a 3.5T would never have worked for us anyhow, we’re alerted carrying loads of gear! Last year we were probably over when she was empty…. Aside from the keel from our boat that is 😂. We just carry to much gear!
Hey, sorry man… yeah we’ve got a lot of missed opportunities 😂 I think there’s a kink in the description for you though! If you want to help us, just pop into Patreon, we can also help with more in depth questions there 👍❤️
@@SailHub haha ... i hear you, yet you are doing it. Never mind me, the armchair wise guy lol. Awesome content, great editting and fabricating. I love how you are able to catch your the fabricating road crossings and deliberations! very educational.
Would you use the pocket hole screws on a boat? I love the quick assembly but I'm trying to only use stainless screws (and so far sticking to torx heads).
Sure yeah, I use them for quick assembly before adding strength with an epoxy fillet. It means you can whip through a build. You could use traditional joints which is always fun but these days not many people want the expense.
Hi guys Great work, Just a heads up the music Is too loud for the level of the voice. Not too bad on a phone I guess, but watching on the tv have to Turn down the volume every Time music comes on. Same thing in the last video. Cheers keep up the good work.
Cheers for that. So difficult! On the numbers it’s pretty good but the problem with music that is not always professionally produced is the LUFS is not always where it should be for social use and we can’t easily adapt for bass treble etc. some systems are just louder in certain frequencies. Believe me! I’m working on it and I really appreciate the feedback - it helps a lot!
Hi again, I’ve just had a watch on UA-cam to see where the issue is and I can’t believe it. The sound is nothing like what we have on our render so I’m going to h e to do some research to see what is happening on upload. Thanks again for the feedback. 👍👊
@@SailHub Yep it happened to me before, and I didn't know about it. Everything sounded great in DaVinci and then on UA-cam music was way too loud. In my case one of the issues were the headphones I was using, a pair of flat studio Headphones helped. In DaVinci you can normalize audio for UA-cam specifically. Cheers. Fair winds.
As someone who knows how much renting a barn, buying posh ply, glue and tools costs….where’s the money coming from? I have for years wondered who buys spirit yachts, which are beautiful, but for multi millionaires only. I assume fund managers or retired company owners.
To be fair, I use it an awful lot. But when we’re filming Jenni and I are always communicating so it kinda gets left behind… not ideal but I can assure you that I usually do 👍 thanks for the concern 👍😊
Yeah, your right there. We have and we have trimmed the rest of the van with Sileather. It’s a great product and we are very happy with it. For the seats though, we want something which we won’t stick too when it’s hot and we are using what we can afford from a sale rail so to speak.

Very well done to you both, have a lovely time at the Bells and wishing you fair winds for the year ahead.
9:07 What about Epoxy Temp. When mixing?
The West 105 went yellow on me. Know why?
Hey Chris! Thanks mate! Next years set to be amazing for us, we can’t wait!!

I'm thrilled to see the finished project - will all this hard work not only pay off, but will it be seen?! I do hope so
Hey! Yeah I hope it’s worth it!
We will for sure do a video when we finish her and I do hope that we manage to exhibit some shows too!
Hi guys, love this build. Do you have a target kerbweight for the finished van? Quality usually comes in heavier so will you stay under the 3.5t?
No target weight to be honest. We will likely get her re-plated at some point.
We just got the joinery all done and got her weighed in with all the tools still in the van. She came in at 3.1 so I’m pretty happy with that.
@SailHub yeah it's no drama if you're old enough to have passed your driving test back when it automatically allowed C1 class 😁
Yeah mate! Too easy 😀

Hey, for sure we will be there.
Will cool to hear your progress man! Yeah, drop us an email and we can make that happen for sure!
How do you clean epoxy off brushes please mate? Acetone?
Yeah mate, acetone and leave brush in there in a sealed bottle 👍
@SailHub brill, thanks for the tip
👍👊 our pleasure!
Which screws are you using for the pocket holes?
I just use pan head wood screws. Cheap; simple and they work a treat.

Sure yeah, I use them for quick assembly before adding strength with an epoxy fillet. It means you can whip through a build. You could use traditional joints which is always fun but these days not many people want the expense.
P.s. you can still get pan head stainless screws easy enough, even with a torx head 👍
@@SailHub so we don't need to use the special shaped pocket hole screws? I thought they had a special shoulder/shank?
So long as the screw passes through your clearance hole tightly but without obstruction your all good 👍
@SailHub that's great. I'll put one of these on Jane's birthday present list 😍🤣
