Humans: The blisteringly quick progression from "Wow, what is this!" to "Wow, what can I do with this!" to "Well, what else can I do with this" to "Welp, let's do something else now..."
How apropos for a bunch of bored humans watching some guy read a bunch of crazy internet stories for a little dose of entertainment or just to make the day go by a little quicker. Seriously though, love ya man, and what you do! Let the stories continue!
Oh, yeah, I can see why this is your favorite. it's pretty much true. Boredom and caffeine set the Enlightenment into motion, and it's been "Ad astrae!" ever since. Wouldn't want it to be any other way.
Oh my goodness, this is hilarious! And I love the notion that it was boredom, not conflict, that pushes our advancement. Boredom, curiosity, and a prediliction for efficiency. Instead of dumping knowledge because of how it was used or where it was gained, we just quietly adapt it to things less damaging.
Boredom is just the result of our greed for knowledge not being sated. In German, curiosity is called "Neugier", which is literally the greed ("Gier") for the new ("Neu").
Awesome story, I can absolutely understand why it's your favorite. Not to mention the second biggest driving force in humans : Lazyness. How can I avoid doing boring or strenous things. Who is willing to bet that those are the same humans as the ones in the Series about building bigger and bigger guns ?
I've never thought about it like this, but the more I think about it the more on point it seems to me... It's true, though war is the secondary driving force of our race. Someone gets bored and makes something and gains some coins, then we get even more bored and someone pokes someone else in the eye and boom even more stuff to play with!
My first introduction to your channel and HFY as a genre was your reading of First Contact. The first few chapters were the best. By chapter 200 it was dragging. I gave up before chapter 400.
Fantastic story love the channel but my favourite is “our attack was unfortunate” keep it up and thank you for making these stories available to someone who dose not read much (I can reed just fine I just don’t)
I understand why this is your favorite Story. I love it too. Honestly a little longer would be great but it’s nice how the tension and tempo works so well. Thank you for doing this for us I sincerely appreciate you and your Wife’s dedication and clear commitment to making it happen and high quality! God keep you both in his arms I ask in Jesus name ❤️🖖🏼🇺🇸
I remember this one. It is a very good story and completely on point. The only time I have noy been bored in the last 30 years or so is while being in combat.
I see why this is your favorite story. Here is a like and comment for the story, for entertaining me, to help your channel grow, to appease the great and powerful UA-cam algorithm demon, and get you the recognition you deserve.
This reminds me of a character in a Robert A. Heinlein novel that made the following statement (paraphrased): 'Nothing was ever invented by a man that likes to work! It's the lazy man. He's always looking for a way to make things easier.'
I can see why it's your favorite, mine is the Vid with "The Words of Bargaining" where a small child accidentally teaches an Avianlike Xeno how to tame a predator on their world. The Offer of Utreet is the story.
as a Dane, I can see a great similarity between this story and how our concept of "hygge" is sold to cultures outside of Scandinavia, especially the US.... and how much it is misunderstood...
UA-cam keeps trying to pull me away from this story. I have it set to loop at 2x speed but every time I turn off a monitor it turns off loop and I end up on a different video. I close chrome with the video playing on loop and when I reopen chrome it is on a completely different video. When I let it play on loop for hours it ends up just stopping for no reason. 10/10 love the story and the narration. Please continue to redo your older videos.
Three times was my limit! Thanks for your hard work. I wish I could support you in more than word only but I don't always have food on the table. Luckily I'm still fat* from older better times 😂 Edit: corrected fan to fat. I'm definitely a fan though! A fat one, I'm basically three fans!
I was thinking about the boredom and humanity when watching Jurassic World and they were talking about boring dinosaurs and needed more teeth in scarier dinos.
Yeah. This one makes sense. Necessity may be the Mother of Invention, but Boredom is almost definitely the Father Boredom is one of the fastest ways to get anyone into trouble, which often leads to the necessity to make something.
Pretty much. Though I would say that war does drive technological change because its really fast boredom. (that is the old stuff doesn't work as well as something new and shiny)
Greetings, Mentlegent! For the Rhyhtm that is Algo I can see why you like it. Of course, it's a lie, our advancement is in fact driven by war. But we'd just had one, and needed a break. Fighting a huge multi species empire wasn't something we wanted to do right then. Fortunately, they were afraid of us. Making them a cultural satellite will do nicely.
The Devil's hands are idle playthings... close enough. "Look what I can do!" "Betcha if I _____, _____ will happen." Advancement driven by boredom, "the Devil" drives technological advancement.
A true story, or at least a very clear explanation of human development, I understand your love for this story.
Humans: The blisteringly quick progression from "Wow, what is this!" to "Wow, what can I do with this!" to "Well, what else can I do with this" to "Welp, let's do something else now..."
For real! I remember being genuinely SHOOK! From vr- and now I just play it like nothing 💀
When I was in the army, we were told constantly that there's nothing more dangerous than a bored soldier.
Yes there is something dangerous. A butter bar with a map.
And then you learned about the board engineer 😅

This one speaks truth
Aliens: "How did you create, let alone contain, a Class 4 Singularity?! That should be impossible!"
Human: "Meh, didn't have nothin better to do."

RegalLegalEagle always makes such good stories
The drive to always improve things we have just created, to make them better than the previous design. Indeed, calling it boredom is accurate.
Oh, yeah, I can see why this is your favorite. it's pretty much true. Boredom and caffeine set the Enlightenment into motion, and it's been "Ad astrae!" ever since. Wouldn't want it to be any other way.
"What dating sites don't want you to know." 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Love this story! A different take on what makes humans "special".
It's simply the best!
The first story I heard you read was the care and feeding of humans you are the best narrator out there
You, Sir Squirrel, are the exception. No One could be bored with You. Great read on this story.

Human: I'm bored, so I wanna fight a god.
fighting god ? that's old news, i wanna fight existence itself then after that i wanna fight non existence.
