I bought the album Power in the Darkness as a shy fourteen year old and played it until there were no grooves left...! Loved it, particularly this track and I still play regularly today, it really captures something that I can't put into words. I remember the late 80s when TRB reformed briefly and the sheer excitement of seeing them do a gig at the 100 Club, great night. Gawd bless yer Tom. Seen you play live so many times over all these years. I am a massive fan.
I'm only 17 and grew up listening to tom Robinson band and madness , grew up in classic cars and learning how to fix things , also went out every day on the bike and adventured around , got hammered on my 16th , my father raised me well
The soundtrack of a certain generation. The magic continues. Brilliant song writing, fabulous musicianship and excellent performance . Tom’s new CD ‘Power in the Darkness Live at the 100 Club’ is exceedingly good. If you enjoyed this you will enjoy the CD, download or vinyl recoding.
I looked up the references to people in the song but couldn't figure out who Nan Harris and Charlie Jones were. Can anyone enlighten me...are they people in TR's own life or are they public figures at the time? The song is a bit like Revolution Will Not Be Televised by Gil Scott Heron. There are a load of people or events mentioned that make the subject matter less familiar as time goes on even though the themes are no less relevant.
