@@jennb5884the taxpayers will absolutely be the ones paying these victims, but sadly, there won’t be a thing that tax payers can do about it. It’s been happening for decades & LE continues to blatantly violate rights. At least in this case someone in LE was actually held accountable & sent to prison for it! Most of the time, officers/deputies get to keep their jobs, or are allowed to resign & then hired on with another department!

It’s staggering, the amount of abuse he was comfortable with and inflicted on his detainees. Just by that alone you know EVERYONE was subjected to his abuse. The deputies were probably also part of the rampant abuse because they feared no reprisals from their bosses. I’m sure this goes way deeper than is being released

Thank you so much for covering this story. I'm a firm believer in transparency and accountability. Just because someone wears a badge doesn't give them the right to act outside the color of law. Transparency has become a movement with some serious momentum. It grows every day. Until police brutality caught my attention on the internet I had no idea there was so much corruption in law enforcement. I always heard the One bad Apple story but now that spend a couple hours each day riding down names of dirty officers that lost their jobs for planting drugs, forced sexual favors, disgusting use-of-force videos where people are cuffed and on the ground, no longer considered a threat but yet they're still being beaten mercilessly because the cops want to tune them up. I've seen people arrested for eating food in a parking lot. I've seen a kid beating because he was waiting for his dad to pick him up in front of the place where he works. So another video where a guy was beaten and arrested for going in his own car. I saw another Arkansas highway patrolman throw a pit maneuver on a pregnant woman driving a minivan after she complied by slowing down, putting on her blinker, and apparently she was looking for a safe place to pull over and the patrolman decided it wasn't fast enough so we flipped her car and almost killed her and her unborn child. This type of behavior is unacceptable and people are no longer going to put up with it. Every man woman and child that sees these videos has a right to call and voice their grievances and let the department know they are being watched and they will be held accountable.

18 months is a slap in the face to the people. The Sheriff still has his 8k monthly pension, he's going to a minimum security Camp Fed and he will be out way before his 18 months is up. If you want a deterrent he should have gotten the maximum time in general population.

It’s amazing how they want citizens to cooperate with them and help them out with tips or flat out telling them who committed a crime, but when one of their own is the criminal, instead of holding them accountable they tend to cover up for them, I really hope every last one of them that committed a crime, violated someone’s rights or used that badge and gun to intimidate or bully someone, gets everything they deserve when they get caught, they should get twice the sentence that a normal citizen would get, because these pos took an oath and I doubt if any of them actually keeps that oath

I'm sure he's not the only one, but it's good that they have taken steps to stopping those who are abusing their power, this is definitely not the reason that you were given it to abuse others, they're been punished enough just being in there without anyone else adding to it

The amount of time he received to be supervised (6 years) after his slap on the wrist 18 months sentence, should be actual prison time he serves. Those in his command staff should also have been charged and given jail time.
