Terry, I always knew that you were a nice lady but now that you said that since the candy was free you are going to donate it to a homelessness service organization, you have been elevated to an angel! Thank you! From Rising Tides Outreach. We serve the homeless of Atlantic City.

Cast the molten candy in silicone molds, maybe? You'll end up with a big flat side, but I'd imagine that's how Ring Pops are made.
Edit: Better idea, use the rotary thing they use to make candy hearts, but with a die set that's gem shaped.

One easier way to practice is with colored polymer clay. You can learn to make letters and all kinds of designs with the same techniques that they're using but the clay isn't hot and it is more forgiving. I've been making clay "canes" as they're called for years and was so surprised to see the same techniques used in this candy-making.

That took a lot of thinking to make that candy, but so fascinating. Would be pretty cool if you all could do it too. However more space & equipment might put a damper on that thought. I love their store location with the big windows/wall where people can watch from the outside. Love how people can "peek" into your work space form inside the store. Thank you for taking us along to see how do they do that. I find your candy making very fascinating and enjoy watching & laughing.

It's quite like making clay canes with Sculpey/Fimo, and making soap images with soap clay. White food colour is just titanium dioxide, usually. Probably the one that was banned. I use it in soap, there is water soluble and water soluble.

Black currant is one of my favorite flavours. It's a shame that the plant acts as a host for the white pine blister rust that threatened the timber industry. In 1911, the federal government banned the cultivation, sale, and transport of blackcurrants to protect the white pine otherwise it wouyld be more popular in the U.S.
