I agree with this. I have been playing Runescape for 21 years and have done a lot of combat in those years and when Necro came out,it became my favorite combat style and that made me get a genesis shard for the 2 tier 95 necro weapons and I paid almost 2b for it a few days after they where released. Sadly I have to say that it is one of the worst items I have ever spend coins on and I simply can't see or fell any difference what so ever compared with the standart tier 95 necro weapons. I have the tier 95 necro armour set as well and 200mill xp in Necro and if there is any difference between the standart tier 95 necro weapons and the sharded ones(their stats do increase)the difference is so small that I can't detect it at all. Getting the tier 95 Necro weapons and armour was such a massive increase in power, like nothing else I have seen in the game in those 21 years of play,so seeing no different in power output when making the weapons tier 100,really pissed me off. I do own all the tier 95 weapons in the game and I am NOT going to spend any more shards on any of them and I strongly recommend people using their money on other upgrades instead of the genesis shards. I have to say though, that if the Genesis shards drops to around 400-500 mills, they might be worth it if you have lots of coins and more or less any other power upgrade in the game, but they are NOT worth more than 500 mills max. So the Genesis shards is yet another massive disappointment of an upgrade coming from Jagex and the boss should drop them in normal mode as well.
To be clear, when I say not noticeable, I'm not saying "I can't tell the difference, so it doesn't matter," I'm saying that most other upgrades will have differences that you can feel. You can feel critting more with Grimoire. You can feel upgrading from t92 to t95s because of their unique passives and specs. You can feel higher damage with Scripture of Amascut, especially against poisonable bosses. Anything under a 5% damage increase is going to be very difficult to feel a big difference, so as a content creator, it's hard for me to recommend something that costs 1.5b that you're not going to be able to feel because "technically its more damage."
just like ralph said. kinda crazy how people were freaking out over the last necro crit chance nerf where it was ~a 5% dps loss and then they realized. oh wait, i really could cannot notice a sub 1 second difference in kill times. now people are asking if they should spend ~1.5b for a 3% increase lmao. basically, go for it. its just like t99 curses which are ~2% more dps iirc. if you have money to spare, go for it. if you have to justify the cost to yourself, then no.
It does matter at Nakatra, but using a lord of bones will get you to 100% (which is also cheaper than shard). Also, Nakatra drops shard so, if you get one from Nakatra, it's totally fine to use it.
not sure if im the only one who want this but a guide on best in slot for every spec? i am necro spec atm and not too sure what upgrade to go for or what items even exsist in the game
@raphtheboygenius awesome cause I'm just getting back from a long break and now I'm lost lol I have bis for all styles now I just gotta remember how to use them and need help on my bars
This is great advice, completely agree with you. I'm planning on building best in slot for every style first and only then will I start working on shards. I also haven't made it to Vorago or AOD yet so that's also why it's low priority.
Honestly, I put the 1 shard I got from log towards necro, since that's all I really use anyways, and I'll just buy the other 6 (working on the assumption that there will be dw ranged t95 eventually) when I finish GReaper. Figure I won't have anything else to spend money on at that point anyways
To be clear, I think using a shard that you get as a drop is 100% worth it, especially for your main style. Buying a shard just feels REALLY bad since you're rarely getting that much.
@@raphtheboygenius 95% of it is from ge merching, and probably more than 112b since some items are worth more than their ge value. 112b is just total tradeable wealth evaluator value
@charlesdai6611 112b 95% GE flipping = you belong to the select minority that was able to get partyhats back in 2001 or made bank in the duel arena back in the day and have been flipping rares since then. Not something the majority of players csn ever achieve.
what does u think these shards will drop to eventually? I really dont think 1.6b atm for them is worth it. I'd say 800-1b is fair. Nothing more TBH.....
Tbh unless it drops to way less than Praesul Codex, I would just farm them yourself. I have all of the shards I need, so I have no plans on keeping tabs on the price unless I get another one from a Reaper Task.
I'm inclined to agree with this. There's 100% a world where every endgame account needs 7-8 shards (imagine if they come out with 2h Necro....) so even if they drop short-term, every time a new t95 comes into the game, it'll go right back up. My general philosophy on these types of items is to just farm them yourselves instead of buying it, but it's ultimately up to you how you decide to acquire one. I believe at this time, farming Nakatra is the second best money in the game, so unless you can consistently kill 2k Zamorak, you should just farm your own instead of buying it.
As someone who hasn't played RS3 in years. Hearing Seneric is 1mil is INSANE to me.

accuracy matters at HM nakatra also, i only have 91% accuracy with elders, omni guard and t95 prayers

A statitus warhammer brings the accuracy to 100% against aod, and the hammer costs 67m only😂
I got my shard 4th kc release week, I used it lol 😂yolo I’ve gotten 5 since and another at 15 kc
Its the only way , same thing i did to t95 necromancy set. Same old Jagex man , for 11 years of my career... 😂

And u dont need the shard for aod, just use the spec of statitus warhammer and your accuracy against aod is 100%
You released this vid the exact same day I bought the shard, sigh
It is still valuable for an account, it is just not as useful as some other upgrades for the amount of GP spent.
