- In the XIV-XVI centuries, meadows were located on the site of modern Valovaya Street, where at the beginning of the XVII century the cows of the tsarina-nun Marfa, the mother of Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich, were grazed. The area was crossed by the "staritsa" of the Moscow River, which was flooded with water in floods or heavy rains. From 1941 to 1992 - Lenin Square in memory of the arrival here from the Hills of the coffin with the body of V. I. Lenin. In 1992, it was named Paveletskaya Square after Paveletsky railway station, in front of which it is located.
