I've been a fan of cameo since the beginning , as a young teen in the mid 70's I've emulated the singing of tommy ,larry ,and still trying to perfect Aaron mills bass playing cameo is my all time favorite band .
I'm a Cameo fan from the beginning. Larry blackmon has always been my musical Hero since 76. I am a drummer who've always tried to emulate blackmon's drumming. Back in those days he was absolutely the best drummer in world. I love admire blackmon so much that my homies have always said that they think that I love Cameo more than Cameo does.lol.
I love Larry too. I was 14 in 1977 when I first heard Funk Funk on the radio. In 1989 I was working as a phone operator at the Bel Age hotel in West Hollywood and Larry called one day and I told him what a big fan of his I was. He was super cool. But for best drummer of the 70s funk era I gotta go with the Ohio Players drummer. You listen to the work he did on Skin Tight and I Want to be Free, he's hands down the best. Larry's drumming was solid and he did have great timing
@funkman70 Right, I couldn't remember his name... Thanks..! But you're right, the Ohio Players were definitely Larry's inspiration, even down to the signature "Oooowwww" that he got from Sugar Foot
I'm born and raised Akron Ohio 1960. Ohio players was my boys then came Cameo was originally the New York Players doing a tribute to the Ohio Players. They are just as bad ass as the Ohio Players. Check out the drummer on Its over now by Ohio Players. I'm a bass player.
Willie White yeah dude! I’m a huge LB fan also! Larry Blackmon is an exceptional front man, but Larry is an even better drummer! The ultimate Groove Master!
I don't care how billboard rates Cameo they are still America's favorite Funk and R&B band and for all of you haters if you want Cameo at it's best buy their greatest hits CD you will see what I'm talking about
Shake your pants, Cameoasis, she's strange, and single life..all good songs.. I guess Larry slowed down..but what the hell he's still the man..and that funky beat..we are so lucky to come up with all the great bands...
I'm just smiling because I'm the same age as Larry but he's not trying to move on stage. There still has to be some funk in the trunk. He created some masterpieces! Ride it out!! I jam with the band and even play ice hockey twice a week "yes' brotha's can du-dat-2 even into the late ages" wit dem young white boys! Keep that funk alive!! Funk is out, when they carry you in a box!!! LMFAO Cameo Ever!!
You know the old saying; "Once a drummer, ALWAYS a drummer." I'm still trying to figure out who was the drummer on "That kind of guy", somebody told me a while back it's a drum machine. Those off beat cymbal crashes near the end blow me away e'ry rip.

@Jihad El-Amin hes gotta be a vegan....larry has knee problems
I was more worried about the length of his tongue that he stuck out at me because i didn't get up and dance to Candy......
Oh, and that was in Croydon 10 or so years ago.
Vegan diet most likely.
Larry moves his hands like he's still drumming😊

What's up with Blackmon? He moves like he is sick or something. I think when artist get older, they should tour selectively.
