Toxic weedkillers have been banned from gardens across France this month. Households are no longer allowed to stock, never mind use, the chemical compounds, which are deemed a danger to the environment. Industrial use, however, continues. The world's most popular weedkiller, glyphosate, is still being spread in huge quantities. Some people say it is a safe solution to supplying enough food to feed the world. Others say it is clearly a poison which should be prevented.

To all you people on this thread; There are tests available to determine if you have Glyphosate in your bodies. If you're concerned, you can send a urine, blood or hair sample to be tested for Glyphosate. If you have glyphosate in you, then you can decide whether to worry or not. Keep in mind, Glyphosate was first patented in 1950 as an industrial chelator, so it is safe to assume if it's in your body, it's binding minerals within your body. Do you not wonder if that has any effects on your health? Secondly, Glyphosate is an effective defoliant because it blocks the Shikimate pathway. While mammals themselves don't use the Shikimate pathway directly, the vast majority of the thousands of various organisms that live in your gut and help you digest your food and obtain nutrition from it do use the Shikimate pathway. So it's idiotic or insane to think having Glyphosate in your gut does nothing to affect your health or, for that matter, the health of butterflies, bees, frogs bugs in the soil, fungi in the soil that exist symbiotically with all plantlife that are also exposed to this chemical. When was the last time you saw a frog? How many bees you been seeing lately? I remember in 1975 when we drove across the U.S. out windshield got covered in bug splatters. Anyone had that experience lately? Where have all the animals gone? What happened to the Monarch butterfly? Also keep in mind, Bayer AG who bought out Monsanto is a descendant of organizations who were knowingly involved in atrocities during WWII.

There many companies even foreign companies producing and selling Glyphosate. Monsanto's patent on glyphosate ran out in 1999. Glyphosate is the safest Herbicide farmers have ever used even much safer than many of the highly toxic pesticides Organic growers use. Glyphosate does not and did control all weeds. Thank you Mrs Robin. The EU just decided to continue allowing it. Under pressure from the professional agricultural sector obviously. At least in France it is forbidden in my understanding, which is not the case in most European countries. I don’t live in France and am very carefully selecting the producers of what I consume, because I am very sensitive to toxics.
I don't trust someone who is this inaccurate with their statements. She is either grossly exaggerating or outright lying. The first thing she said was that it's the most toxic product created by man. It's absolutely wrong, and I don't think I need to elaborate. Second, she claimed "there's over 1000 studies" on the dangerous effects of glyphosate, which is totally incorrect as a quick scholar search will show you. She's not a scientist, nor does she apply and epistemology to her conclusions.
Most of the youtubes on glyphosate go back way more than a year. But the ongoing poisoning of our planet, its creatures and our species, continues.

Well not only does this mimic our hormones estrogen as well as mimic glycine. It kills our gut bacteria the same way it kills the plant via the Shikimate Pathway.

I am a paediatrician and this is not only linked to cancer. Autism which is affecting now 30% kids in UK, US and spreading world wide. The strict definition autism is currently rated at 3% in US but the wider neurodevelopmental spectrum is 30%. This rate is doubling every ten years. It is massive pandemic affecting our children and it is most likely caused by herbicides most noticeably Glyphosate.

my mother died of non-Hodgkins and dementia - she sprayed Round Up all around the house for weeds. Add sugar and saturated fat laden diet and no real exercise and she was gone in 8 years form diagnosis to death.

yes. organic certification can take 3 years after herbicide application in many cases. Bio remediation happens with many chemicals, some not so much.

Sorry, but eating organic is not enough to avoid glyphosate, first) because most organic have also some contamination 2) it is in water and air 3) it is in everything, paper (made of wheat), clothes (GMO cotton), clothes washed with contaminated water, vegetable oil made of sprayed produced, corn, canola, soy...

Our lawn was sprayed with glyphosate product two years ago by a new landscape company. The HOA didn’t notified homeowners and our dogs got sick . Majority the smaller dog like my 4 kg chihuahua who was sitting in that sprayed grass on that same day without knowing in it. On the same night she couldn’t breath , started throw up and got diarrhea. Till next morning when we run to ER with seizers it was late. Her lung and heart and airway got permanently damaged. She is on medication , need oxygen daily and inhaler. She can’t stay outside more than 10 min because of her lung function is only 10%. The landscape company told me over the phone that I shouldn’t worry because “ the chemical is harmless to dog only kill insets “. Just let me there is no chemical which harm only insect and not other habitat.
Glyphosate is never sprayed on lawns because it kills the grass. And the guy said it was used to kill bugs... So it just wasn't glyphosate... You made that up...

As far as herbicide resistance goes there are far more weeds resistant to ALS inhibitors than resistant to glyphosate.

@dsndicmsa The media isn't lying to the people. The person getting interviewed is. If you can't tell a guest speakers from the channel hosting them, then that's a problem. If you can't tell fact from opinion - that's a problem. Second, a lot of protests are based on the fake news being spread and not on the fact that fake news is being spread. I wouldn't be surprised if the people pressured the French government to ban glyphosate because of people like her and the fake news they spread.

Everybody who is invested in the subject knows, that you cannot strictly say that Glyphosate causes cancer. Cancer is multifactorial, caused by genetics, lifestyle and also from environment. With the same logic you can say that sugar causes cancer and it will be true, because as glyphosate it is one factor.
Not a single pesticide regulator or agency in the world has found glyphosate to be a carcinogen at the levels we are exposed to.
Spoken like a lawyer. So by this logic, you must still be sucking on cancer sticks since cigarettes are just a factor in getting lung cancer, right? Don't you want to reduce your chances of any pathology by reducing the factors you're exposed to? you gotta do better than this!
