If your Xbox One won't turn on all the way, but it's making a small noise when you touch the power button, chances are you just need to replace the power brick.
I tried everything else (like unplugging the power brick for 24+ hours), but changing the power brick on my Xbox One (originally purchased in 2014) was the only fix that made it work again.
EDIT: You may also want to try plugging your power brick into other outlets in your house as well, which may help with this issue

ALSO TRY THIS: I experienced same issue today and tried all the tricks but got nothing. To fix it, I removed the USB flash drive and then it powered right up.

Same problem.. I fixed it but relentlessly trying to turn it back on but once it's on... make sure to switch it to STANDBY MODE in the power settings! That why it never shuts down completely and it starts right up. Once you get it on SWITCH TO STANDBY MODE IN SYSTEM SETTINGS!

I had to factory reset my Xbox in order for the power brick to work properly. I ended up returning the power break to GameStop because I now belong to the PC master race…

Honestly mines does the noise thing too but what i do to fix it is uplug the power brixk and plug it somewhere else in my house then replug it back to where i want my xbox

Mine has the same Issue but does yours making like a small click sound when u try to turn it on when I try on my Xbox sounds like is about to turn on and then makes a small click sound

I got another powerbrick and I left it unplugged for like 10 minutes. I plugged everything in and the light is orange. I push the powerbutton on my xbox and it won't turn on at all. Light is orange but my xbox won't turn on at all it makes no noise.

Sort of an update: Mine started doing this again after my last post. It turned out, my Power A controller charging station was "confusing" my Xbox somehow and I plugged it into a different USB port( the one below) and tried turning on my Xbox after plugging just the cord in and it's going ok for now.
oh my god I was about to have a melt down this gave me such comfort and relief !! Ordering a new power supply cord asap 💯

Just had the same issue. I just unplugged the wire from the brick, and hit the power button until it completely died. Plugged back in, booted right up 🤷♂️

That means something was damaged inside your xbox. It could be internal power supply or motherboard. You can buy xbox1 parts online and fix it yourself or send it someone who will repair it or just buy a new one.

Mine makes the whole power up chime but isn't turning in the power brick's light is solid orange so is it still the power brick or something else?

Ay, I've been having the same problem but it wasn't tge power brick, it's anything that's plugged into the xbox. Just unplug anything that's plugged into it.
For me when I turn it on the ringtone doesn’t make the sound but the light shows my Xbox is fine but I’m just worried about it!

I don't know what the deal with mine is, I've had this exact same problem a few times but what i do is unplug the power supply from the wall and xbox until the LED turns off, then plug it back in until the LED goes from amber to white. After that it'll work just fine but it makes me wonder if the power supply is in the process of dying
I bought a new power brick and am still having the same problem.
TRY THIS FIRST : Same issue here, I unplugged power cord and hdmi from back of unit. Left unplugged for about 5 mins still the same. But…then I pressed the power and game eject button at the same time and it’s fine now. Tried this on another Xbox one with the same problem months ago and that fixed it too.

what i did when my power break wasn’t working was: I put it in the freezer for five days. I took it out and let it cooled off for six hours and it started working again.
Step 1. Pick up your Xbox
Step 2. Walk out the front door with it
Step 3. Open trash can lid
Step 4. Drop Xbox in trash and close lid
Step 5. Reflex on your mistake and go buy a PlayStation.
Step 6. Enjoy

my issue is I'm not exactly sure the kind of sound, but my xbox one will make like a buzzing or humming no lights on front & it does it randomly & only for a few mins then turns off I know about the instant on feature but I'm almost 100% certain I don't have that on.
Got this problem recently 2024 , weird the orange indicator doesnt start flashing. Kept thing it was inside the xbox.

Had this happen. New block didnt work. We took it apart and the power ribbon connecting to the front of the xbox where buttons are was loose. Removed and put the power ribbon back in place and good as new
This happens to me most of the Time and For me it was pretty easy to fix this problem. All I really needed to do was Just press the power button again After a few seconds.

Unfortunately that means your mother board or internal power supply was damaged in your Xbox1. You can try a soft reset but if u can't turn your xbox on its ultimately useless to try because if u can't get to the troubleshoot screen then you can't troubleshoot. Or you got another damaged powerbrick if u have another xbox or a friend or something with one you can try both powerbricks to see if there both at fault. If not that means something was damaged inside your xbox you could try replacing the broken part inside the console or getting it repaired at repair shop. Or buy a new one.
Thank you. This was a problem for me and you were correct. Saved me a lot of effort and my spare power brick solved the issue. Maybe I'll see if I can fix the busted fuse or whatever has gone wrong. I'm sure there's a UA-cam tutorial for that too. :)

Your best bet would be to test out unplugging your current power supply for a minute or more and then trying it out on a different outlet in your house. It may work, but not a high probability
If this doesn't work I will just get another power supply

The only way I can stop this is to turn off the Xbox completely (unplug cable). Is there any solution you can suggest to fix this problem?

Well I just waited 2 hours of my life taking it apart cleaning it puting it back together taken apart again 🤣 the only good thing about this is that now I can put LED's in it

You probably won't reply but mine lights up for a second then turns off. The power brick lights up white for a second as well. I don't know if it's the same issue or not, but it just happened like 10 hours ago and it turned off without warning

Ben Gean Nope. I did just test to see if switching out the wall plug from my 360 would work with my Xbox One power brick, but it did not fix the Xbox not turning on. And I just noticed that the Xbox 360 power brick is nearly identical, but it’s just a slightly bigger, and won’t connect/fit to my Xbox One. I didn’t even think to try that out.
One other thing I did notice is that my Xbox one needed to be connected straight thru to my wall electrical outlet. I ran into issues when I plugged my new power brick into my surge protector multi-port outlet. My surge protector is a little older, so that could be a reason as well. Hope this help!
@@LeeLechner I did the same think and realised my xbox1 powerbrick sounded like a maraca. Like sounded like something was loose behind the metal prongs inside of it. I think what happened was it had enough power to make it beep but not fully turn on because of that lose part.

Thank you. Bought another power supply (unfortunately 3rd party as can't get official ones anymore) off amazon and my original Xbox one lives again. First time anything Xbox has failed on me (except laser 2 or 3 times to read discs on xbox 360). Might look to fix my original Xbox power supply in the future.

To explain the Power Brick LED
Solid White - Quick Start/Turned On and Healthy
Solid Orange - Surge Mode/Unstable and Low Power Mode
Flashing Orange - Hardware Issue/ Faulty
No Light - Unplugged or Malfunctioning
This happend to a friend of mine recently and his Power Brick would show Solid Orange and then Turned Off when trying to Start Up the Xbox. He ended up buying a new one so if the same is happening to you... I recommend doing so as well
