I already do most of the points shared in the video, but recently I've joined a running club and that is helping to push me during the hard sessions. Don't underestimate the social factor of running.
Treadmills have come a long way. Being a trail runner in New England, it can be very cold and icy in the winter. My treadmill with the IFit program makes the treadmill a joy instead of a chore, with many trainers to follow, beautiful cities and countryside to explore, and training tips/ motivation a plenty. While the trail runs are key, I know without question squeezing in the late night runs between 2 jobs and a husband would never have been possible without the treadmill, and I wouldn't have just run the most fun exhilarating marathon i could ever have imagined, 98% pain free!
What I am doing to become a better Runner? ... I have developed the habit of warming up before each run. Specially I aim to wake up the glutes with banded lateral walks, slow motion squats & I also aim to stretch the hip flexors with lunges & reverse Nordic curls.
I went through my closet and edited my run clothes, rediscovering some things I hadn’t worn for awhile and putting aside others to give away. Just like going to the shop but no expenditure involved.
I recently tackled the Goggins challenge as a personal challenge and found that format enjoyable. I’ve got a similar challenge on the calendar in a month and the build up to tackle the mileage has motivated me to train more often with more effort and variety.
Definitely agree that buying new kit helps get you excited about training. It’s horribly consumerist but it definitely works. I find the same thing with discovering new workout formats, or exploring new areas - it all just gives you something novel to look forward to and experiment with and prevents stagnation or boredom and loss of motivation.
I'm just focusing on building consistency. Getting out for a run 4 times a week. Not putting pressure on myself to get intervals or speed work done just get out run. If I feel like it I might push and do a threshold run but if I build the routine I hope that I can start to add specific sessions when I have a target in mind.
@@JasonFitzgerald not complaining, just wasn't what I expected, but like I said, I get it, and I'm sorry if that came across wrong! you can and should promote whatever you like and even especially whoever is paying for your support! I don't have to watch if I'm not interested ;-)
Great tips. In my opinion, I prefer to wear cotton than those dry fit shirts. I notice that I feel hotter wearing polyester and my armpits stink and that doesn't happen when wearing 100% cotton shirts.
I prefer merino wool type vests etc. It doesn't stink and you can wear them for more than one run before washing (seriously) I find synthetic tops last forever which though good for us probably isn't good for the environment.

i agree, find a positive community and stay competitive in good way
Ironically, my bedtime alarm went off whilst watching this video - good night!

I thought this was going to be running tips, not a commercial, lol, but I get it! Gotta get your paycheck from those sponsors ;-)
Only one is a sponsor, but I'd have recommended them anyway. Either way, they're still tips. Stop complaining!

Flip them inside out and soak them in some vinegar before tossing them into the wash
@@nichole2757 thanks for the tip

Compression socks after long runs
Why would anyone run in 100 degree weather?
There are a lot of adaptations your body will make when you expose yourself to extremes (in a safe way of course)
Because they live in arizona
Because he is David Goggins.
