    10:03 Conclusion
On the Pixel 8 Pro, the camera bar has been improved a bit with better ultrawide and telephoto cameras, and now it has this nicely textured matte glass. The display is now flat and can get up to 2400 nits of peak brightness, which I thought I wouldn’t notice but you can tell the screen is overall brighter in day to day use, it’s really nice to use. And the Pixel 8 Pro has the new Google Tensor G3 Chip which should make it faster than last year’s model.
Google’s major goal for the pixel line seems to be trying to make taking and editing photos and videos easy for the everyday person. And I think they do a great job of that. The camera hardware is fantastic, but the camera software and user experience has always been what’s impressed me most. The Pixel Camera introduces complex techniques that professional photographers and videographers know how to do but make it a single button press or one toggle switch away, and makes it easier for everyone to use without having to spend 15-30 minutes to learn how to do something.
But Google is pushing their Photo and Video AI features for this phone hard:
There’s audio magic eraser that removes background noise in videos you take. This is great for making your audio emphasize your voice instead of all the annoying stuff around you. Overall this feature is helpful for the average person to control how audio sounds from their videos.
Best Take scans a bunch of those photos and replaces people’s faces with a different one from one of the other similar images, so you can select the perfect one like, one of them smiling and looking at the camera
Then there’s Magic Editor which lets you replace entire objects with new ones, or move objects to different positions or increase their size anywhere on the image.
Google has also promised future AI features that are coming to the Pixel 8 Pro. And let me disclaimer this. I don’t believe in buying a device with the promise of future updates. Assume what you’re buying today, is what you’ll be working with until your next phone upgrade. Software and features can get delayed or never manifest at all. So let’s talk about those coming soon features then.
Video Boost is a feature that sends the video you took to google’s server for AI processing that can improve overall video quality. It takes time to process, but then automatically updates your phone with the processed video you took. This includes Night Sight video, which will improve the videos you take in low light environments. Lastly Google is implementing bard, their ChatGPT competitor, to Google Assistant, emails and I’m assuming other Google services. That’s a lot of features coming to the Pixel 8 Pro.
Google is promising 7 years of feature drops, software updates, and security updates. But Phones get used and worn down over time. You could accidentally crack the screen, or the battery just goes bad. So the chances that a phone lasts 7 years seemed unlikely. Thankfully Google is partnered with iFixit. And also sells genuine Google parts for Pixel repairs, and the prices aren’t ridiculous either. So there’s a good chance that Google could meet their promise of supporting the Pixel 8 lineup in software updates and have hardware repairs available through partners like ifixit to ensure your aging device stays out of the retirement home. But again, things about the future should be held with at least a little skepticism. So just be aware things can change. Google has been notorious for getting rid of services that they don’t see as viable right out of nowhere. And they do try to make things right with their customers, but it’s still annoying to have something promised, and for it to not pan out or meet expectations.

I've seen a bunch of ads for the AI features recently so it's nice to know that they are actually working well when they do work. I'm not in the market for a $1000+ phone but we get a pixel 8a in the future with similar AI features I'll highly consider it.

Nice decent phone but Casting Mirror cast does not work on Non Google devices such as FireStick or Roku.. I game and cast to my TV or friends TV. Also during the holidays I would have loved to be able to cast photos and video to families TV. Not everyone has a Chrome Cast and dont want to carry one everywhere. Samsung and even iPhone is able to cast to these devices.

The thermometer was probably included to take someone's temp when they're sick.

    • @JimmyTriesWorld

The thermometer is for surface temperature. The ones you use when you’re sick is for internal body temperature. I’ve tried measuring myself with it on skin. Very inaccurate for that purpose

Good reviews but what about data/bluetooth connectivity? Problem with the pixel is their weaker modem. Still a smart phone and needs to function like a phone. It isn't all about the camera. It needs to have great battery life, better charging speed and better reception. That's something the pixel lineup fall short on.

No issues with the Bluetooth and to be honest, I have better signal with the Pixel 8 Pro than my previous iPhone 13 pro. Have you tested the battery, it sounds like you had a bad experience with the battery of the Pixel. It is not at the iPhone Max level but it performs really well. I agree with the charging speed.

I have a Pixel mainly because I missed it when I switched back to the iPhone 6S 64 GB phone. When my phone battery died I went back to the GOOGLE PIXEL 6 and it did not integrate with my google home quite as efficiently as the iphone integrates with the Apple Home. At least it did no better at managing my google home as my iphone 6S did. In addition, I find the iphone 6S Camera superior to the Google Pixiel for macor photography like coins or jewellery detail. In fact when you get too close to your lense on the Pixel it asks you to back up. Therefore it is not good at getting good photos of coins. The iphone cameras are far supperior. So the next phone I buy will be back to iPhone and keep it as a spare for filming.

it seems like a decent phone in my short time using it, but yeah , a lot of the features do seem a bit hit and miss , and a percentage of them very gimmicky , but you have to give google points for trying.

If I was ever going to leave the Apple Garden it would be to a Google Pixel Pro smartphone.
Now to the life span of the device. Pundits just do not get normals as they are not normal. Normals keep devices for five or more years. We will see if Google keeps it's word this time and supports the new Google Pixel's for seven years.

    • @JimmyTriesWorld
