  • I really like my Airpods Pro 2. Like a lot. It’s my wireless earbuds of choice. But there’s a million different options now offered today with a bunch of different price points. And I’m not the type to always think this, but maybe there’s something that might fit me better that’s out there today.

    So let’s talk about each of them for all the different things I care about in a pair of earbuds. The Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds provide a snug fit, and with the little fins that stick out, it isolates outside noise really well. By far the most robust ear bud. But I will say, the touch functions on the earbuds are a tad sensitive and activates a little more often than I’d like. The Sony WF1000XM5s have these foam like eartips, and you have to make sure you push these buds deep into your ear to get a good seal. Or else the sound quality coming out of it isn’t great. But when it is in your ear properly, they sound great and it’s pretty comfortable. The Beats Studio buds+ feel kind of like airpods pro 2 in the ears. Relatively light and not the tightest fit, but it’s comfortable.
    When it comes to sound, the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Buds are fantastic. The sound is fuller than the other earbuds and it’s got nice bass to it. Absolutely fantastic. Then sharing second place the Airpods Pro 2 and Sony WF1000XM5. The Airpods Pro 2 provides a slightly more fuller sound but the Sony WF1000XM5s sound really clear. It’s really what you personally want here. What shocked me was that the Beats Studio buds+ sounded good.
    In Noise Canceling, the Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra Earbuds take the top spot again. Because they already make such a nice seal in your ear with the fins, their noise canceling does well with lower end frequencies. These would be great to use on public transit, or planes. But when the music is turned off, I can occasionally vaguely hear this high pitched hiss from time to time creep in. It’s quiet but noticeable. And it’s a little distracting. I don’t know if this is only due to my pair, but just keep that in mind. Sony WF1000XM5s without setting it up with the app, doesn’t perform great here, but does a lot better when you’re all set up. Once set up, the Sony’s do okay at lowering lower frequencies but are pretty good at handling the higher frequencies. Overall, I don’t think they do as good as the AirPods Pro 2 or the Bose but still pretty good. The Beats Studio Buds+ has good noise canceling as well. Not my favorite, because it seems to have the smallest impact on overall noise canceling. But it does work but against some of the best, the noise cancelling on these are what you expect. My main complaints though, is that to activate it you have to hold a physical button on the earbud, and when you do, you may push the bud deeper in your ear making it slightly uncomfortable but that’s a really minor complaint.
    The AirPods Pro 2 and Beats Studio Buds+ both earbuds made by apple, have integration directly into iOS. So you can go into settings, and they’ll pop up right there for you to configure what you need to do. It gets the job done. But the other earbuds take it a bit further. The Bose QuietComfort and Sony 1000XM5s both have apps that control firmware updates, eq settings, how the touch controls on the buds are configured, and adjusting noise canceling functions. I think the Bose app experience is a little prettier and easier to use and I like that you get full customizability on how much noise canceling you get. On the sony app, it kind of looks outdated and ugly UI-wise, but provides the most customizability of all the earbuds I tried. You can do a lot more with Sony’s though it might be a little more confusing if you’re not tech savvy and know what all of these different terms mean.

    Conclusion, they all have obvious dealbreakers, except the AirPods Pro that aren't exception in many categories, but are clearly the best allrounder.

    Have yet to find an in ear, earbud that will stay in my right ear when I do the shake test. For now have used Apple EarPods with added in ear, earhooks, and they do the job. Now the sponsor Shokz product looks like something that would work for me if I wish to go wireless.

      Get the comply foam ear tips for your AirPods Pro, and see if that does it for you.

    I'm sure you don't want to start a whole series on this, but there are often recommends for Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, and the Sennheiser Momentum 3 that may be worth checking out, at least before delving into some more expensive/less expensive tiers.

    I switched from the sony wf-1000xm4 to airpods pro 2 because the controls are so much better. Sonys controls only let you have one type of control per bud (only play/pause or only swith. Between noise cancelling modes) while airpods can control everything from both buds, which really helps when you're only wearing one. I recommend them whether you use ios or Android.

      I did the same. The controls are good but imo the ANC on APP2 has slight hiss and the sound quality isn't as good as xm4s.

    had the airpods 2 for a longgg while decided to try the nothing ear 1 first foray into anc and i was kinda disappointed had this hiss with anc it was mildly comfy but just not perfect fit then again for the price it was ok then decided to take the plunge airpods pro 2 and just cant go back honestly its super comfy, seal is adequate though the original tips tend to slip out more after a little sweat and oils but then i changed to comply which was great but the wear and tear and my different ear size doesnt make the consumable quite worth it since comply costs a fair chunk which sucks because it was even more comfy er. then i got the spinfit superfine in ML but again that ear size issue so i went with the large for both ears and fits great. minor issue it does lose some grip once it gets sweaty and oily but a quick wipe fixes it temporarily or alcohol wipes fixes it slightly longer but also stock is just grippyer and softer which it being so soft makes the ear sizing not matter too much for me just conforms better. another minor thing the seal isnt as good as foam comply but that makes sense i mean its foam i do miss how those fit though which they lasted longer

    The Bose Ultras are more comfortable and the sounds is better. The Sonys have much better sound but get a bit heavy after a while. Instead of the beats, which are not in the same level as these, you should have compared the Jabra 10. The Jabra 10s are awesome!

    Really appreciate this video! I’ve been debating replacing my gen 1 AirPods for the last year or so. Given the similarities of the price point, and how tied into the Apple ecosystem I am, I’m wondering if I’m best off just getting AirPods? It sounds silly but the iOS integration feels more important to me than a dedicated app given I know nothing about audio 😅

    • @JimmyTriesWorld
      @JimmyTriesWorld  6 місяців тому +1

      AirPods gen 3 aren't a bad option! There's definitely better sounding buds around for the price but let's face it, if sound quality is the end all, be all, we'd all be rocking full blown headphones all the time. AirPods sound good enough for most people and that iOS integration is soooo good.

    The APP2 aren’t perfect. I wish they had better battery life, were more repairable, had more customizable EQ settings that aren’t tied to the Apple Music app, and I wish they worked better with non-Apple devices, but for those trapped in Apple’s ecosystem they really are just the best all-rounder tws earbuds and it’s kind of annoying that that’s the case lol

    Your review seems really out of date since the AirPods Pro v2 have had a recent firmware update that you don’t mention which blows the competition out of the water. You mentioned nothing about what they now bring to the table. I’m sorry but your review was a huge thumbs down for me. I find the latest firmware stunning and totally unexpected. I never want to take them out of my ears now. They make my everyday listening experience to life less stressful and more refined. The competition can’t hold a candle to them. I have a number of high value top performing wireless and wired IEM’s and there are aspects of each that the EarPods Pro just trump now. I’m completely blown away beyond belief, I keep A/B’ing them and they sound technically more refined.
