- An epic metal cover of Ponyphonic's "The Moon Rises".
I loved Ponyphonic's work on this song, it's very dramatic and operatic, but I couldn't help thinking "this needs a wicked guitar solo in it". So I recorded a cover version, with a guitar solo. And then I decided to try singing it, because it's an incredibly fun song to sing (as almost all villainous songs are!).
This is also the first thing I've recorded since replacing the pickups in my guitar with DiMarzios, and also since getting a copy of EWQL's Symphonic Choirs, which is more fun than it has any right to be...
All lead vocals, guitars, bass, drum programming, orchestral programming and choir programming by me (The L-Train). Music written by Ponyphonic of course, and Luna / Nightmare Moon and MLP:FiM is owned by Hasbro.

What I especially love about this version is:
1) The metal cuts in as soon as Luna theoretically becomes Night Mare Moon
2) The final verse is repeated with a stronger version at the end.

Well, that was a brilliant idea of mine. I just listened to these epic songs in chronological order:
1: Come Little Children
2: The Moon Rises
3: Lullaby for a Princess
4: Luna's Response
I did the same with Discord. But I put all the songs together in one video :D Check it out if you want. I know, this is pretty cheap spam, but come on!
CrimsonEbonyTears Where does "Moonrise: A Symphonic Metal Opera" fit into that list? And do "Luna's Soliloquy" or "Luna's Lullaby, Celestia's Lament" fit into the list? Are there any I missed?

Yeah, I have since listened to those phenomenal pieces. The biggest one to deal with would be the insane masterpiece known to us as: Moonrise. Throughout it, it literally goes the journey from Luna's loneliness to her transformation in Nightmare Moon to her to her rebellion and banishment and finally to Celestia's mourning of her. That one really does encompass all of the journeys of the above pieces, save for the idea of "Luna's Response".

Indeed. As I said, it pretty much tells the whole story all in one song while the other songs focus and elaborate upon individual portions.

I've been saying for a while now that there needs to be more epic metal covers of MLP related songs. Electronic is great and all, but with the emotion involved in Metal I think it just fits it more. And the extreme metal side of things doesn't work that well. So very well done for making this!
His voice makes this extraordinarily better!

This is really ABSOLUTELY fantastic! The only negative side I'd say is when the guitar REALLY comes in and it actually left me straining to hear your voice over it, which is one problem I have with a lot of metal. I think it was really fantastic and I LOVED the ending like none other!
To be honest I thought that a woman would sing it...but after I heard this I am going to download this song to my collection of epic songs becuase of your smart and beatiful voice..

Wow. Just wow. The only cover that I liked of this song. At first I was very sceptical and more or less expected a joke or a parody... I mean, The Moon Rises? In metal?
You, however, delivered. Vocals were amazing, instrumental kept the feel of the original and it was awesome. Although, I believe if you stopped at 2:28 or somewhere at that point, it would have been even better.

Really Nice cover man! my only issue is the same issue i have with most covers tho, and thats just that no one seams to quite get the.... I don't know what to call it actually, lets call it the "Swing" of the lyrics that make the original song so good. It's just very very specific timing and holds of ponyphonics singing that made the lyrics PERFECTLY match the music.
For instance the line where its the most promenant. "When all... the world... is wraped in... an Etenral... Lullaby!" its also how he makes all the words flow into themselves.
Your Instrumentals tho, are REALLY epic, and the only problem with your singing is that I'm comparing it to Ponyphonic, which doesnt really count since he made the song.
